CHERRY, the market leader and expert in mechanical switches in keyboards, is announcing the MX Low Profile RGB. This shallow switch features a brand-new design and combines the well-known characteristics of the MX switch with a low profile. This allows the implementation of mechanical keys in a much more compact format, making the CHERRY MX Low Profile RGB suitable not only for use in notebooks but also for building unusually thin high-end keyboards.

The CHERRY MX Low Profile RGB is the first truly new development in mechanical switches in more than 30 years. The company's R&D department has invested a lot of time and effort in achieving a total height of only 11.9 millimeters without compromising on characteristics and quality. The MX Low Profile RGB is about 35 percent shallower than the standard MX switches, and thanks to its unique design it can be used just as easily for mechanical keyboards in high-end notebooks as for unusually thin mechanical desktop keyboards. The new CHERRY switch was fully developed and built in Germany, its the "Made in Germany" seal representing the best product quality and the highest manufacturing precision.

We visited AZiO's booth to get a sneak peek of their upcoming products. First up, we got a glimpse of their Atom, Aventa, and Bluetooth Retro Classic mice. The AZiO Atom is an ambidextrous RGB gaming mouse which is available in black or white. It boasts a 280-degree surround RGB lighting system with onboard control. The Atom features an anti-slip surface finish to provide users with a better grip and a Pixart 3360 optical sensor for dead-accurate precision. The Aventa, on the other hand, sports a more aeronautic exterior with a Zinc alloy exoskeletal frame complemented by an ergonomic hand grip. Both the scroll wheel and 3D logo possess RGB backlighting. The Aventa utilizes the exact same sensor as the Atom. Lastly, the Retro Classic is built with a metal frame with bolts and makes use of a refined leather and plastic interchangeable surface.

AZiO also had some interesting keyboards on display as well. The MGK Ultra is the company's latest RGB backlit gaming mechanical keyboard. It's available with Cherry MX Blue, Red, Brown, or Silver switches. This keyboard features a full RGB backlit control which doesn't require the use of software. The lighting is separated into two independent zones. The interchangeable top plate is made of bulletproof Kevlar and exotic carbon fiber material, and the spacious palm rest is magnetic. An integrated USB 3.0 hub and audio ports are also present on the keyboard.

HyperX gave the Alloy Elite mechanical gaming keyboard it launched last July, the RGB LED treatment, with the new HyperX Alloy Elite RGB. The keyboards retain the feature-set of the original Alloy Elite, but come with RGB LED-illuminated Cherry MX Red, MX Brown, or MX Blue switches. The RGB LED illumination, along with macros, is controlled via the new HyperX NGenuity software. Available from a little later this week, the new HyperX Alloy Elite RGB is priced at USD $169.99.

Cherry themselves have provided a Developer Page with guides and how-to tutorials, explaining what exactly goes on a Cherry switch and how to put them together. Whether individually or in a set, CHERRY is offering customers a choice between MX Red, Black, Blue, Brown, Green, Clear, Silent Black, Silent Red, and Speed switches. The developer kits contain a full set of 110 switches, which will let users create their own keyboards in the extended layout. For Cherry's developer kits, you'll have to exclusively go through Reichelt Elektronik, whereas switch kits can also be purchased from Arrow Electronics and Greendich Enterprise. The developer kits will be available for €40.

ASUS today rolled out the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Horus GK2000 RGB mechanical gaming keyboard. A revision of the Horus GK2000 the company launched back in early-2016 with red LED lighting, the Horus GK2000 RGB, as its name suggests, updates the original with RGB LED lighting. The lighting can be controlled by ASUS Aura Sync RGB software, with which you can set color, brightness, and lighting patterns for each individual key. The keyboard features Cherry MX RGB series switches, with 16.8 million-color RGB diodes. ASUS bumped up the keyboard's onboard storage to 8 MB, to locally store not just your macros, but also your lighting settings. Available now, the ASUS ROG Horus GK2000 RGB is expected to be priced at USD $199.

Cooler Master, a Taipei-based leader in designing and manufacturing computer components and peripherals announces the MasterSet MS120, a gaming keyboard with mem-chanical clicky switches paired with a mouse that has high quality Omron switches and ALPS encoder scroll wheel. ErgoDox EZ is a startup company that sells a pre-assembled ErgoDox, two-piece ergonomic keyboard. Wetook a look at the "Shine" variant earlier this year, and were left impressed by it despite the high price tag. At the time, the only switch options came from Gateron since Cherry was not able to satisfy the needs of smaller companies and Kailh still had a question mark regarding quality control. Six months on, things have changed drastically to where they now offer switch options of only Cherry and Kailh including the (still rare) Cherry MX Silent Red and the new Kailh Speed switches- a direct response to the Cherry MX Speed (silver) but with their own unique take on them.

The new Kailh Speed switches come in four options named Copper, Silver, Gold and Thick Gold with shorter actuation distances as expected but now with the option of tactile and clicky switches as well. MSI today introduced the GK-701 RGB mechanical gaming keyboard. Built with a standard 104-keyset, the GK701 RGB features Cherry MX Speed Silver mechanical switches with RGB LED lighting, which can be controlled using MSI Mystic Light RGB software. You get hotkeys that set LED lighting and color from across a 16.7 million color palette on-the-fly, as well as some groovy lighting effect presets. The keyboard also offers multimedia hotkeys, and macro keys. The keyboard is rated for up to 50 million key presses per key. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Cherry, makers of the popular Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switches, which also sells its own line of gaming keyboards under the MX Board brand, introduced the MX Board 1.0 TKL (tenkeyless). The keyboard is further available in three variants based on switch model (MX Red, MX Blue, and MX Brown); and two sub-variants based on switch type (linear-push, and pressure-point). The MX Board 1.0 TKL features a compact design, with a matte black ABS body, measuring 370 mm x 150 mm x 25 mm (WxDxH), weighing 730 g. It features an 87-keyset, and as a tenkeyless keyboard, it lacks the NUM pad. The keys feature white LED illumination. The company didn't reveal pricing.

G.Skill expanded its RipJaws line of gaming peripherals with new KM560 and KM560 MX mechanical gaming keyboards; MX530 and MX570 gaming mice. Positioned a notch below the company's flagship RipJaws KM570 RGB keyboard, the KM560 is a compact "tenkeyless" keyboard (lacks a NUM pad). It comes in three variants, the KM560 (standard), the KM560 MX, and the KM560 RGB. What sets the three apart is the lighting. The standard KM560 lacks any back-light illumination, the KM560 MX features red LED lighting, while the KM560 RGB, as its name suggests, features multi-color RGB LED lighting. The three further come in color variants of black and white, each.

The RipJaws KM560 series keyboard features Cherry MX mechanical switches, although G.Skill didn't mention which kind. Its electronics offer full NKRO (n-key rollover), registering any number of simultaneous button presses, with an active anti-ghosting feature. Besides on-the-fly macro recording, the included software lets you set macros, and on the RGB variant, it also lets you set color for each key, and add lighting profiles. The RipJaws MX530 is the company's new value-segment gaming mouse, providing all the essentials from the company's lineup, including a metal-finish body, a 3,500 dpi sensor, Omron-made main button-switches, RGB LED lighting for the logo and scroll-wheel insert, and a total of 6 programmable buttons. The MX560 is its bigger sibling, with a more precise 7,200 dpi sensor, an LED diffuser that lights up your mousepad, and onboard memory to store your button maps and LED preferences.

Cooler Master took to the stage on Computex 2017 showcasing its solutions for every gamer's needs, from the RGB-crazed one to the serious, twitch-shooter.

On to keyboards first, we have the Cooler Master Masterkeys PRO L RGB, which manages to fit both Cherry MX switches and a full RGB solution that can radiate 16.7 million colors. There's also on-the-fly macros and profile support, with the Fn key getting a whole lot of love. All in a sleek, minimalistic design, if you ignore the screaming LEDs. The Masterkeys PRO S is essentially the same, but lacking the number pad. The Masterkeys S, on the other hand, eschews the RGB lighting, lacks profile support and on-the-fly switching, and also ditches the number pad. The minimalistic design is somewhat destroyed by the bright, screaming, angry red WASD keys, but there's no denying you'll be hard-pressed to confuse them with other, non life-saving movement keys.

However, that isn't to say it doesn't sport some sort of lighting: it features blue LEDs, with three lighting modes available (full keyboard, with a breathing mode and four variable levels of brightness; numerical pad only; WASD and arrow keys only).

The keyboard features an all-black design, with an aluminum top panel that extends out and down at a slight angle. The upper right side of the keyboard features the usual notification lights, and the F keys double as media and volume controls, including brightness, Windows lock, and more. It also features n-key rollover, though there is no macro support (and no accompanying software). The two versions of the RK-9300 list for $99, but both are available for $85 on Amazon (Blue switches and Brown switches) and Newegg (Blue switches and Brown switches).

Tesoro, at its 2017 International CES booth, unveiled am unnamed new slim mechanical keyboard. The keyboard comes with a maximum thickness of 12 mm (including keys). Such keyboards were only possible with membrane-type keys. Tesoro's keyboard gives you the tactile feedback and durability you'd expect from mechanical switches. The prototype shown at CES has a common 104-keyset with media shortcuts being enabled through function keys. The company didn't mention the maker of its switches beyond mentioning "blue," so it could be either Cherry MX Blue, or Kailh Blue. Tesoro will give this keyboard a few more finishing touches before rolling it out in Q2, 2017.

When you think of gaming peripheral combos, you often imagine a pack of three entry-level peripherals (keyboard, mouse, headset), which come at a passable bargain together, but which you wouldn't buy in parts. EpicGear is out to change that perception with its new .50Cal gaming set. AZiO appears to be cashing in on the new hip trend of old-school typewriter keycaps. The company unveiled its new high-end mechanical gaming keyboard, the Armato, and while most would expect it to accompany with an RGB LED lit variant; AZiO dedicated a variant to classic typewriter keycaps, called the Armato Classic Edition. It's not just keycaps that set the two apart. The Armato uses Cherry MX Brown switches, while the Armato Classic Edition features Kailh Blue switches, for more tactile feedback. Both keyboards are characterized by a standard 104-key layout with locally stored macro profiles, and a rotary volume control wheel. The Armato comes with red LED back-lighting, while its Classic Edition variant comes with white LED lighting. Both keyboards feature large firm palm-rests.

CHERRY, the specialist for computer input devices, has unveiled the MX Board Silent at CES 2017. This new keyboard is based on the G80-3000, which has proven itself over the years to be precise as well as reliable. Even though Corsair has already launched a K95 RGB Keyboard, the company apparently wasn't convinced that that was the best of what they could achieve; as such, Corsair has announced what they deem to be "the true successor to the K70: the K95 RGB Platinum.

This version features 8 MB of on-board memory to let owners save up to three profiles for lighting and macros, so that they are carried with your keyboard and you don't have to fiddle with the settings yet again if you change computers. There are now only 6 macro keys located on the left side of the keyboard, a step-down from the 18 offered in the previous K95 - but evey main key is now re-assignable, which means that you can do the same amount of work, without having those extra 12 keys taking up space and increasing the keyboard length . In terms of the ever-present lighting features, the K95 RGB Platinum features a lighting zone called LightEdge, which is located along the top edge of the keyboard. It's essentially a long strip of light created by 16 RGB LEDs, and you can program its lighting patterns and colors separately from the rest of the keyboard.
