VideoCardz has discovered a new dual-fan "non-PRO" white variant—the Vastarmor RX 7700 XT Alloy White 12 GB. TPU's GPU database entry lists a release date of August 25—according to the VideoCardz report, Vastarmor has not settled on final pricing or an official launch date. The standard black (with small red accents) RX 7700 XT Alloy model did reach Chinese retailers last year—the pale variant is predicted to cost about the same, or demand a slight premium over the black version.

Specifications remain consistent across both—according to VideoCardz: "Vastarmor has verified that the card maintains a base clock of 1784 MHz, a game clock of 2276 MHz, and a boost clock that reaches up to 2600 MHz (an overclock of 2.2% for boost). Despite its compact size, measuring at 26.3 x 13.2 cm, the card demands three slots due to its thickness of 5.6 cm. Power-wise, it relies on standard 8-pin power connectors, installed in pairs." The factory-set overclocks are identical to the numbers designated to Vastarmor's RX 7700 XT Alloy PRO model, although their triple-fan design is slightly slimmer. The longer design accommodates a 90 mm fan, positioned between two 100 mm units.

This is a PCIe 5.0 consumer-grade controller, likely derived from its big sibling (YRS900).

According to InnoGrit presentation material, their new model is based on: "RISC-V instruction architecture, adopts a 4-channel PCIe 5.0 interface, is equipped with 8 NAND flash memory channels, supports NVMe 2.0 protocol, has an interface transmission rate of 2667MT/s, can be paired with 3D TLC/QLC, and supports a maximum capacity of up to 8 TB." Company representatives stated that the YRS820 controller is destined to be fitted on high-end consumer parts—the AI PC market segment is a key goal, since the YRS820 is able to: "accelerate data processing for specific applications and have high stability, consistency and security." cnBeta highlighted some anticipated performance figures: "YRS820 achieves sequential read 14 GB/s, sequential write 12 GB/s, random read and random write up to 2000K IOPs and 1500K IOPs respectively." InnoGrit did not reveal a release timetable, since their latest consumer-grade controller is going through a validation process. The company is currently collaborating with domestic NAND flash memory and DRAM manufacturers, as well as other industry bodies.

Especially with smaller nodes getting ever-increasing density requirements, it is becoming challenging to etch sub-10 nm designs using DUV tools. That is where Extreme Ultra Violet (EUV) tools from ASML come into play. With EUV, the wavelengths of the lithography printers are 14 times smaller than DUV, at only 13.5 nm, compared to 193 nm of ArF immersion DUV systems. This means that without EUV, SMIC has to look into alternatives like SAQP to increase the density of its nodes and, as a result, include more complications and possibly lower yields. As an example, Intel tried to use SAQP in its first 10 nm nodes to reduce reliance on EUV, which resulted in a series of delays and complications, eventually pushing Intel into EUV. While Huawei and SMIC may develop a more efficient solution for SAQP, the use of EUV is imminent as the regular DUV can not keep up with the increasing density of semiconductor nodes. Given that ASML can't ship its EUV machinery to China, Huawei is supposedly developing its own EUV machines, but will likely take a few more years to show.
