The Witcher 4's Director Talks About Unreal Engine 5 Tech Demo Running at 60 FPS on PS5

We at CD Projekt Red are collaborating with Epic Games to push open-world game design further than ever before, and we wanted to share our progress with the gaming community through The Witcher 4 Unreal Engine 5 Tech Demo—a showcase of how we're bringing more life, depth, and reactivity to the Continent than ever before. This isn't gameplay of The Witcher 4, but we still wanted to incorporate CD Projekt Red's signature storytelling into the tech demo, showing our new protagonist Ciri in the midst of a dangerous monster contract. We also reveal the never-before-seen region of Kovir, a rugged land where cities are built on trade and keep a careful distance from the military conflicts that plague the rest of the north.

But the focus of this tech demo is just that—tech—and we were proud to show it live on stage, running at 60 frames per second on a PlayStation 5. The tools highlighted won't just power The Witcher 4, but will also be shared with the wider video game development community through Unreal Engine 5. The tech we're creating with Epic will benefit the entire industry, ultimately bringing a better experience to players.

ADATA XPG Project INFINITY Exhibited at Computex - High Performance DDR5 UDIMM Built for AI

ADATA's XPG sub-brand is best known for producing gaming hardware, but Project INFINITY signals a significant diversification. Two demonstration sample DDR5 UDIMMs were mounted on an open plan build, at the company's Computex booth. Despite bearing XPG branding and gaming-oriented aesthetics, these memory modules are not wholly related to a freshly presented Lancer Neon DDR5 product line. Instead, ADATA has deemed Project INFINITY worthy of inclusion in their "AI Revolution" portfolio.

Impressive credentials are outlined in PR material: "XPG pushes overclocking to new heights with memory solutions that blend extreme performance, bold design, and sustainable materials. Project INFINITY delivers up to 9200 MT/s with 48 GB capacity per module, featuring RGB lighting and an infinity mirror heatsink for a stunning visual effect. For professional workloads." According to an accompanying placard, XPG's bare build utilizes an ultra-expensive ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero mainboard foundation. Intel's Arrow Lake-S flagship CPU—Core Ultra 9 285K—drives the Project INFINITY-centric PC system. Appropriately, the XPG team has selected an ADATA Mars 980 BLADE Gen 5 M.2 SSD, for ultra-fast storage purposes. Hopefully, additional/refined Project INFINITY examples will turn up in the near future.

Splitgate 2 Exec Developer Discusses Importance of Playtesting - Open Beta Starts May 22

Six years ago, developer 1047 Games released the free-to-play Splitgate, an arena-based first-person shooter that allowed players to place portals around maps, adding a fresh strategic layer. Now Splitgate 2 is set to double down on this unique idea with bigger maps, a new class-based system, and the introduction of The Lab, a player-facing version of the team's map creator. Ahead of the open beta opening up on May 22, we sat down with Ian Proulx, CEO and co-founder of 1047 Games, to talk about Splitgate 2's new mechanics and how community feedback and rigorous playtests are helping deliver a sequel that hits the right notes.

Making a sequel to a free-to-play shooter in 2025
When asked how the team is doing in the weeks leading up to the open beta, Proulx's response was succinct and to the point: "It's definitely a bit of a crazy time for us." Splitgate had a team of around 15 people. In contrast, there are about 200 developers working fulltime on Splitgate 2, plus 50 or so outsourced contributors. "We've definitely put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that we have a process that works versus the first game, where everybody was doing a little bit of everything all the time," Proulx added.

Labyrinth Of The Demon King Out Now on PC & Consoles

Hello everyone! It's finally time—the gates have opened to the Labyrinth Of The Demon King. The game is out now, and to celebrate we've debuted a brand-new launch trailer (see below). Labyrinth Of The Demon King has been an incredible labor of love by the developer—J. R. Hudepohl—and we've extremely excited to finally be able to share it with everyone. The game is out now on Steam, GOG, Switch, PS4 + PS5, and Xbox platforms—there's a 20% discount which will be active for the first 2 weeks.

We'd also like to thank PC Gamer for their glowing review of the game: 81/100! For a first time developer, this is a remarkable achievement. As a reminder, demo save data will not carry over to the main game. We've added a section on the main steam page as a reminder for this for new users as well. Thank you all for your tremendous support, and we hope you enjoy the game! If you do (and we certainly hope you do!) be sure to leave a review—it helps us and the developer a lot. You'll hear from us (Top Hat Studios) again soon—until then, enjoy all the Labyrinth Of The Demon King has to offer! Thank you all again for your support for during development; it feels unreal that the game is finally releasing.

MicroProse to Publish Afterconflict, a Ruthlessly Authentic Cold War Military Simulation

MicroProse is proud to announce that it will publish Afterconflict, a brutally realistic Cold War-era tactical FPS set in an alternate late-stage World War III. Developed with military simulation purists in mind, Afterconflict puts players into the boots of NATO and Warsaw Pact soldiers locked in unforgiving battle across the scarred landscapes of a divided Europe.

As a first taste of the game's meticulous realism, a new Tech Demo is now available on Steam. Players can try their hand at the game's Firing Range—though mastering even basic shooting mechanics won't come easy. Every bullet counts, and every weapon demands respect, with authentic ballistics, damage modeling, reloading, and wear mechanics that leave no room for run-and-gun shortcuts. The advanced dynamic lighting will also dramatically affect visibility and performance.

EA's Battlefield Team Will Welcome More "Labs" Public Participation This Month

In February, we announced Battlefield Labs as our most ambitious community collaboration in franchise history to validate the future of Battlefield. Today, we'll update you on our initial learnings and how we'll continue to scale testing into the future.

Across our four initial play sessions with a small group of core Battlefield players across Europe and North America, we've completed thousands of hours of gameplay, had hundreds of thousands of player spawns, and seen over a million environmental objects destroyed, including walls, windows, crates, and buildings your squad crashed the helicopter into.

Bandai Namco Announces Battle Train Publication Deal - Steam Demo Available Now

While we initially set out to self-publish Battle Train, our goal is to make the best game possible. We've had many opportunities cross our paths, and one such opportunity felt too good to pass up. That said, we're proud to announce that we're now working with Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. to bring Battle Train to more folks in a couple of exciting ways. You've probably heard of Bandai Namco Entertainment. They've been around about as long as our entire industry and are known as the publishers behind everything from PAC-MAN to Elden Ring to Katamari Damacy (AKA, the silliest game with the best game soundtrack ever made).

Look, we know Battle Train is good. Our friends and family know Battle Train is good. But getting word to the general gaming community has been an uphill battle for us, so having Bandai Namco Entertainment on board to help increase our visibility is awesome… but while marketing is crucial, this news is about more than just marketing. With Bandai Namco Entertainment's support, we were able to extend development and add more to the game, polish the heck out of it, and really make this game sing. We're really pleased with the results. We've added extra cards, extra trains, extra trinkets, and extra time making sure Battle Train is an amazing gaming experience. ALSO, we're not just releasing on PC!!! We'll be bringing the ludicrous action of Battle Train to the Nintendo Switch as well! Surprise!!!

Pigeons at Play & Devolver Digital Reveal "Mycopunk" - Steam Demo Available Now

Hey everyone! Here we are announcing Mycopunk. It's a game. There's a lot of cool stuff in it. We could tell you all about it, but that's a lot of work. So you should stop reading and go play the DEMO. In case you've decided to keep reading (why??) let's take a look at some of the things in Mycopunk that we're most excited about. Mycopunk was born from our desire for a fun (FUN) co-op FPS that makes players want to keep coming back without any of that FOMO shit. This mostly manifested in three ways: shooting stuff is fun, progression is interesting, and [REDACTED].

Weapons
If you've played the demo you'll know your weapons feel good to shoot and carving up enemies is fun. If you disagree, come tell us to our face in the Mycopunk discord. Most of us don't bite. Some weapons are what you'd expect. The SMG is an SMG. It shoots bullets. But from the beginning we wanted to have some really weird, cool ass weapons. One of our favorites is the Swarm Launcher—it launches a swarm (no way) of pellets that hover above the ground and will dive down on enemies when you release the trigger. Some of the Swarm Launcher's upgrades let it do some really cool stuff, but we'll get to that later. We have four guns for you to play around with in this demo, and on release you'll have many more. Those guns are SECRET. For now…

NVIDIA Releases 108 GB UE5 Path‑Tracing Demo "Zorah"

Today, NVIDIA made its tech demo Zorah, A New Era of Rendering, available as a free 108 GB download. Built for Unreal Engine 5, Zorah shows off the sheer power of the new Blackwell architecture, led by the GeForce RTX 5090 and its neural rendering capabilities. After debuting the first version at CES 2025 and refining it at GDC, the company has now opened the doors for anyone with a fast connection and enough storage to explore it firsthand. Downloading the project takes about 15 minutes on a Gigabit link, after which you can fire up Unreal Engine 5 (available from the Epic Games Store) and dive straight into the demo. Once it's running, you'll find yourself in a scene built from nearly 500 million triangles, more than 30,000 materials, over 2,000 particle lights, and 1,500 textures. All of that horsepower would grind any GPU to a halt without NVIDIA's suite of neural tricks.

At the core of Zorah's performance are features like DLSS 4 with frame generation, a Transformer‑based AI model, and the full set of RTX Neural Shaders. These small neural networks run right inside the shaders, creating textures, materials, lighting volumes, and even hair detail in real time. Supporting tools such as RTX Texture Filter, Neural Material networks, Neural Texture Compression, Character Rendering, Neural Faces, Neural Hair, and Mega Geometry help round out the package, delivering visuals that look every bit as rich as big‑budget CGI. That level of efficiency shows how neural rendering can boost image quality and interactivity without hogging resources. NVIDIA hopes developers will experiment with these new tools and push game graphics into what the company calls a new era. If you have a modern RTX 5090 rig and a bit of patience, you can see that future for yourself. Click here to start the 108 GB download.

ARC Raiders Tech Test 2 Coming to PC & Consoles on April 30

Raiders! On Wednesday, April 30th, we're kicking off the ARC Raiders Tech Test 2, where invited playtesters on Steam, Epic Games Store, and consoles will be able to experience the deadly exploits of the Rust Belt, for five full days. This will be our largest test of ARC Raiders to date, for the first time also including players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store. The purpose of the test is to see how the game performs in a live environment across all launch platforms and gather key insights and feedback from players like you. This time around, you're free to share or stream gameplay capture and tell the world of your experience in ARC Raiders—in other words, the playtest is not confidential.

So, what can I expect?
For those who may need a refresher: ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, where little remains of the world we know today. On the surface, threats are everywhere: ARC machines loom high in the skies and lurk in the shadowy corners of abandoned spaceports and run-down warehouses. You'll encounter everything from roaming rollbots to multi-legged behemoths, and the choice will be yours—team up to defeat them, or risk combat with your fellow Raiders if you'd rather keep the spoils for yourself. While the line between friend and foe is razor thin on the surface, in Speranza, you'll find refuge. The Traders there are ready to supply you with quests and gear. You can also craft equipment in your Raider Den, such as advanced weapon mods or unique gadgets. With every level gained on the surface, you can invest your experience into a branching skill tree.

TDK Demonstrates the World's First "Spin Photo Detector" Capable of 10X Data Transmission Speeds

TDK Corporation announces that it has developed the world's first "Spin Photo Detector," a photo-spintronic conversion element combining optical, electronic, and magnetic elements that can respond at an ultra-high speed of 20 picoseconds (20 × 10⁻¹² s) using light with a wavelength of 800 nm - more than 10X faster than conventional semiconductor-based photo detectors. This new device is expected to be a key driver for implementing photoelectric conversion technology that boosts data transmission and data processing speed, particularly in AI applications, while simultaneously reducing power consumption.

Transferring mass amounts of data at higher speeds and with lower power consumption is an inevitable need as AI evolves. To process data and make calculations, data is currently transferred between CPU/GPU chips as well as from and to memory by electrical signals. Therefore, there is an increasing need for optical communication and optical interconnects, which offer high speeds that do not decrease with interconnect distance. Photoelectronic conversion technology is also gaining global interest as a very compact fusion of both optical and electronic elements.

SaxonQ & Quantum Machines Enabled First-ever Live Demo of Application on Mobile Quantum Platform

SaxonQ, developer of the first mobile quantum computer, and Quantum Machines, the leading provider of advanced hybrid quantum-classical control solutions, announced today a milestone demonstration of real-time quantum computing on SaxonQ's mobile quantum computer at Hannover Messe 2025. The live demonstrations included a quantum chemical calculation of H₂ energy levels and basic real-time image recognition, marking the first time anyone has shown such applications running on a portable room-temperature quantum computer publicly, demonstrate the potential of mobile quantum computing outside laboratory conditions.

"Developing a mobile quantum computer that runs in real-world environments—without cryogenic cooling and powered by a simple wall plug—is a challenge that requires the best available control technology. Quantum Machines provides exactly that. This successful demonstration proves that we can run reliable quantum operations on-site. It's an exciting step toward bringing quantum computing to industrial applications," says Dr. Frank Schlichting, CEO of SaxonQ.
