Australia Installs First Room-Temperature Diamond Quantum Computer

Quantum computing is an upcoming acceleration aiding classical computational methods to achieve monumental speed-ups at a few select problems. Unlike classical computers, quantum systems usually require sub-ambient cooling to make them work. At Quantum Brilliance, an Australian-Germany startup company, researchers have been developing quantum accelerators based on diamonds. Today, we got the world's first installation of room-temperature on-premises quantum computers at Australia's Pawsey Supercomputing Centre. While we don't have much information about the computational capability of the system, we know that it is paired with HPE Setonix, Pawsey's HPE Cray EX supercomputer.

In a brief YouTube video shared by Pawsey, it is highlighted that the benefits of using quantum accelerators are real, and they are figuring out ways to integrate it with the center's hardware and software stack for better usage. Meanwhile, Quantum Brilliance diamond accelerators are still a black box of some sort as the technology is known to the startup and its collaborating Australian universities. All we know is that the company is harnessing nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamonds, which supposedly have the longest coherence time of any room temperature quantum state. This translates to a qubit that can operate anywhere a classical computer can.

ID-Cooling Intros PinkFlow Diamond Edition AIO CPU Cooler

ID-Cooling today introduced the PinkFlow Diamond Edition, an all-in-one liquid CPU cooler that has a pink+white aesthetic. The star attraction here is the RGB-illuminated ornament on top of the pump-block, which shimmers like a diamond with the LEDs underneath. White Nylon-sleeved tubing connects this to a 240 mm x 120 mm radiator that's completely white, including the fins.

Each of the two included 120 mm fans features a white frame with pink impeller, with addressable RGB LED diffusers along the bore of the frame. The fans turn at speeds ranging between 900 to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 55.2 CFM of airflow, with up to 2.13 mm H₂O static pressure. Among the CPU socket types supported include AM4, LGA1200, LGA115x, and LGA2066. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Diamond Multimedia Announces V-Stream VS300M Wireless HDMI Kit with 150 Feet Range

Diamong Multimedia announced the V-Stream VS300M wireless HDMI set. As we continue to stay safe at home due to the Covid-19 coronavirus, it is becoming more important than ever to keep ourselves entertained and connected to our friends, family and colleagues. However, we can become overwhelmed when the kids are home from school and both parents are working from home. That is why we can use the peace and quiet that comes from having our own rooms to work, watch TV or simply to relax. Laptops, cable set-top boxes, DVD, Blu-Ray players, PCs, tablets or any other source with an HDMI output, can be connected to your TV. And we all know that the go-to way to achieve this is with a wired connection through the use of HDMI cables. HDMI transmits real-time video and audio through a single cable. However, if you'd rather not be literally chained to your TV with a physical, wired connection, there are ways to connect your device to a TV, and stream video and audio wirelessly. Diamond Multimedia offers a solution to do just that - to cut the HDMI wires and go wireless HDMI.

The beauty of wireless HDMI is, of course, the lack of cluttering up your living room, office, classroom or anywhere you watch and enjoy streaming from your laptop to a TV. That de-cluttering is essential to creating a more pleasant and stress-free atmosphere. When watching TV from a PC/laptop or other source, seeing a cable running from a coffee table to an entertainment center and constantly having to avoid tripping over it, is a huge hassle. In addition, we can increase this powerful ability to wirelessly stream from one HDMI source. As a result, we have the convenience of wireless streaming to TWO rooms with Diamond Wireless HDMI devices.

It also comes with MIMO, 2T2R for 802.11b/g/n for 2.4GHz band and 2T2R for 802.11a/n for 5GHz band. This second-generation device is even easier to set up and has a new LED signal indicator and it can extend the wireless range as far as 30 meters.

Unlike ordinary Wi-Fi repeaters that require an external power supply adapter, WR600NSI's wall-plugged design empowers users to plug it directly into any available power outlet. The WR600NSI can take an existing 802.11n wireless signal, repeat it and send it to a longer range where it would have been too far for the router or access point to reach. It is designed with RSSI -- Received Signal Strength Indicators -- to determine the strength of the signal it receives from the router so that it can be placed in the optimal location, a new function that the first generation model did not have. The WR600NSI acts as a Wireless Bridge Device by receiving wireless signal from your home wireless network and converting to wired Ethernet connections for non-wireless devices such as Internet-ready HDTV, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, and media players.

Diamond Responds to Faulty Supply Issue, Claims Only 188 units Faulty

It was earlier reported (as early as yesterday), that Diamond Multimedia may have sold thousands of defective graphics cards through OEM / OEI channels. Diamond, on its part has responded to the original report, saying that only 188 units were defective in reality, not thousands, as alleged.

Bruce Zaman, CEO for Diamond responded to the TG Daily article, saying that only 188 units out of the thousands shipped were found with defects, and that the figures put up by an engineer at Alienware were incorrect as it was later found. Those were the figures and data the original report on this whole controversy was built on. Zaman said that not the hardware problem in itself, but the time it took the engineer to fix the issue was the reason why it lost Alienware as a customer. Zaman added, that the engineer was fired, for not only playing a key role in the whole controversy, but also for allegedly providing the company with false credentials.

Diamond Multimedia Faces Flack for Faulty Radeon HD 3800 Products

There are two ways you get a gaming PC. You either shop for all its components and build it yourself, or buy one pre-buit from a company in the business of selling them. Alienware is one such company. One of the differences between the two modes of getting a gaming PC is that if you find that a component is faulty, within a period, you could return the faulty part to the retailer for a replacement. With pre-built PCs, the whole unit has to be sent to a service center, for them to diagnose the fault and replace parts.

Diamond Multimedia, popular for its ATI graphics accelerators have allegedly pumped anywhere between 15,000 and 20,000 defective graphics cards using the Radeon HD 3800 series SKUs between the months of January and July, 2008, through OEM channels. As as a report from TG Daily finds out, it may be more of a case specific to Diamond and its manufacturing sources, particularly Info-Tek Corporation (ITC). Alienware has alleged that a disturbingly high amount of graphics card related failures have been noticed with its products. The system builder found failure rates of more than 10% with HD 3870 X2 cards, more than 2% with 3870 models and almost 8% for 3850 versions. Problems included random crashes and artifacts. These problems may have been caused because of the cards lacking power-management features (for the HD 3850), resistors with wrong values (for HD 3870). The source of the problems may have been traced to ITC, one of the manufacturers that has contracts with Diamond. Diamond itself is also to blame, since clearly its product testing, quality assurance teams have been sleeping on the job. This just might cost Diamond its supply contract with Alienware.
