EVGA Precision v1.9.0 Released

EVGA released an update for its Precision graphics card overclocking and monitoring software. Version 1.9.0 of EVGA Precision introduces a number of important changes compared to its older version, including performance and stability fixes related to the application's OSD features, a number of user interface (UI) related changes, and changes to the skin engine which reduces memory footprint.

EVGA Readies Stress Testing and Benchmark Application

EVGA is preparing a new software that tests the stability of the overclocking (as a stress-testing program), and a benchmark program rolled into one. The yet to be named software is another of EVGA's fleet of software the company has developed, as value added features for its graphics cards and motherboards. The software has two components: an artifacts scanner, and a benchmark. It involves rendering a high vertex 3D object which stresses the graphics card, similar to applications such as GPUTool or the classic ATI Tool. It will be out soon.

EVGA Dual LGA-1366 Motherboard Pictured with Chipset Cooling

EVGA showed of its almost-ready dual LGA-1366 high-end workstation motherboard at the ongoing CES event. The motherboard pictured sports a component cooling covering all its vital areas except for one of the CPUs' VRM areas, it gives a fair idea about what the final product could look like. The board itself was detailed earlier.

The chipset cooler design borrows heavily from single-slot graphics cards. A monolithic baseplate covers the northbridge Intel 5500(?), ICH10-class southbridge, and the two NVIDIA BR-03 bridge chips. The heatsink becomes taller over one of the CPU sockets' VRM area. Air is drawn in from the round intake, and pushed out near the expansion slots. the gaps between the expansion slots will do their part in directing the hot air away.

EVGA Announces its H55/H57 Express Motherboard Lineup

EVGA introduced its lineup of three motherboards based on the new Intel H55 Express and H57 Express chipsets. These motherboards feature LGA-1156 sockets to support all current LGA-1156 Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors. With the Intel Flexible Display Interface support, the boards let you make use of the integrated GPUs on some dual-core Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Pentium processors. Models include EVGA H57 (123-CD-E637-KR), EVGA H55 (123-CD-E635-KR), and EVGA H55V (111-CD-E630-TR), with the H55V being a micro-ATX model.

The EVGA H55 and EVGA H57 offer a little more than the chipset's feature-set, with Firewire, and additional storage controllers for IDE and two additional SATA 3 Gb/s ports. The two feature nearly identical board layouts with 5+1 phase CPU VRM, DVI and D-Sub for display connectivity, 8-channel audio, and a number of USB 2.0 ports. The EVGA H55 has one set of internal USB headers less, and does away with the PCI-Express x1 slots between the PCI-E 2.0 x16 and PCI-E x16 (x4) slots.

EVGA Dual LGA-1366 Motherboard Pictured

The recently surfaced high-end dual socket LGA-1366 motherboard is pictured in full, without its cooling assembly. The picture reveals quite a bit about EVGA's new monstrosity. To begin with, the motherboard is neither ATX, nor EATX in the truest sense. Like the recently announced X58 Classified 4-way SLI which was based on the "XL-ATX" form-factor, this motherboard seems to be 13.58 inches (344.93 mm) long, and about as wide as EATX (330 mm, 13 inches), or maybe a little more.

Each LGA-1366 socket is wired to six DDR3 DIMM slots for triple-channel memory, and is powered by an 8-phase digital-PWM circuit. Each socket further has a 3-phase power circuit for its DIMM slots. The CPU VRM for each socket takes input from an 8-pin ATX, and what appears to be a 6-pin +12V (PCI-E?) connector. The motherboard further takes power from a 6-pin PCI-E power connector apart from the usual 24-pin ATX power connector. Some of these inputs may be redundant and needed only for additional electrical stability to support competitive overclocking.

EVGA Prepares High-end Dual-LGA1366 Motherboard

EVGA is keeping up its streak of releasing high-end motherboards for processors based on the new Intel Nehalem architecture, with a new dual-socket monstrosity. Slated for CES 2010, not much about this high-end workstation motherboard has been revealed beyond the picture below. From the looks of it, probably EVGA is making a high-end, overclocker-friendly dual LGA-1366 motherboard based on the Intel 5500 "Tylersburg" chipset with the usual ICH10R southbridge. Existing LGA-1366 processors that support dual-socket operation which includes Xeon 5500 series may work on it. Probably, a future high-end Intel Core family CPU is released that is capable of dual-socket setups, too. The picture reveals two LGA-1366 sockets, each powered by an 8-phase digital PWM circuit. Each socket is wired to six DDR3 DIMM slots supporting triple-channel memory for that socket. More this CES.

EVGA Intros Entry-Level P55V Motherboard

EVGA expanded its lineup of socket LGA1156 motherboards, this time with the entry-level EVGA P55V. This micro-ATX motherboard provides the bare essentials for the platform, but surprisingly doesn't leave out PCI-Express external switching that provides two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots at dual x8 bandwidth, and with it, SLI support. The already lean PCB has a 4-phase (2+2) CPU VRM, with four DDR3 DIMM slots next to it. Expansion slots include two PCI-E x16 (x16, NC, or x8, x8 depending on how they're populated), and two PCI-E x1. One out of the six SATA 3 Gbps ports from the P55 PCH is assigned as an eSATA port, it neighbours the 8-channel audio connector cluster, four USB 2.0 ports, and an RJ-45 for the gigabit Ethernet. It is priced at US $120.

EVGA Announces GeForce GTX 275 Co-op Graphics Accelerator

EVGA's Halloween offering, the mystical graphics accelerator with two different GPUs - each handing one kind of task - is official. Behold the EVGA GTX 275 Co-op PhysX accelerator. This unique graphics accelerator uses an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 GPU to handle the primary task of graphics processing, while offloads GPGPU related tasks, such as game physics acceleration using the company's PhysX technology, to a second GeForce GTS 250 GPU. While the GTX 275 component has 896 MB of GDDR3 memory across its usual 448-bit wide interface, the GTS 250 has 512 MB of it across its 256-bit wide interface, 1280 MB total on board (though not the total amount of memory available to a 3D application).

While not intended to be a true dual-GPU accelerator in essence that the two GPUs work in tandem to render graphics, the design ensures that the GeForce GTX 275 works with zero overhead from processing PhysX. The two GPUs are not part of an SLI multi-GPU array. With the provision of two SLI fingers, users can pair up to three of these in a 3-way SLI array. It is logically possible to pair this with other normal GeForce GTX 275 accelerators as well.

EVGA Releases SLI Enhancement Patch v18 (10.22.09)

Staying ahead of NVIDIA and its own series of similar software, EVGA released the 18th edition of its SLI Enhancement Patch. The SLI Enhancement Patch is a piece of software that adds SLI profiles of usually new games to the NVIDIA GeForce driver. SLI profiles optimize help applications take advantage multiple NVIDIA GPUs installed in an SLI setup. Version 18 of the software is based on NVIDIA GeForce 191.07 drivers. EVGA and NVIDIA Design Unique Multi-GPU Graphics Accelerator

EVGA and NVIDIA are readying a unique multi-GPU graphics accelerator this Halloween, slated for October 30. To celebrate its launch, the two have organized a launch party for 300 lucky participants who will go to the NVIDIA Plaza in Santa Clara, CA and witness the launch of the new GeForce product. The accelerator packs two GPUs: a G200b, and a G92b. That's right, a GeForce GTX 200 series GPU, with a GeForce GTS 250 GPU. This is perhaps the first graphics accelerator to pack two entirely different GPUs. How it works, however, is interesting: the G200b GPU handles graphics, while the G92b is dedicated to PhysX processing. EVGA Precision and GPU Voltage Tuner Updated

EVGA released timely updates to two of its frontline performance control software utilities, the Precision overclocking and monitoring tool, and GPU Voltage Tuner. Version 1.8.1 of the EVGA Precision adds support for newer NVIDIA GPUs, an updated OSD component, among other interface updates that enhance usability. The following are details as listed by EVGA:
  • Added NVIDIA GeForce G210, GT220 and GT240 series graphics cards support.
  • EVGA On-Screen Display Server has been updated to version 3.5.0. Floating injection address hooking technology, which has been introduced in the previous version, is now disabled by default and can be enabled via the "Stealth mode" option in the server's properties.
  • Added hotkeys cross-links checking, Precision no longer allows defining the same hotkey for two different actions at the same time.

LGA-1156 CPU and Motherboard US Pricing Surfaces

Ahead of a formal launch, pricing of socket LGA-1156 processors, an untimely leak from Newegg.com that was updating its site, spilled pricing details of a broad range of socket LGA-1156 processors and motherboards. These prices give us an indication of what prices will finally look like, in the US market, and more or less match speculated prices doing rounds for quite some time now.

To begin with, Intel Core i5 750, Core i7 models 860 and 870 are priced at $209.99, $299.99, and $579, respectively, close to the 1000 unit prices that surfaced weeks ahead. At $209.99, the 2.66 GHz Core i5 750 will be highly competitive with AMD's Phenom II X4 BE offerings in that price range. The 2.80 GHz Core i7 860 is expected to perform on par, or better than the Core i7 920, while being priced a notch higher. The Core i7 870 2.93 GHz only holds premium value at $579, since it ends up being the fastest socket LGA-1156 processor money can buy.

EVGA Also Unveils X58 Classified 4-Way SLI Motherboard

EVGA Rolls out 4-way SLI Compatible GeForce GTX 285 Accelerator

ASUS stirred up the enthusiast community recently with its dual-GeForce GTX 285 accelerator that for the first time, lets four fully-loaded G200b GPUs function in quad-SLI. Perhaps responding to it, EVGA rolled out the EVGA GeForce GTX 285 Classified (01G-P3-1190-AR), the first single-GPU GeForce accelerator to support 4-way SLI (or Quad-SLI). With a small but significant number of SLI-compatible motherboards with four PCI-Express x16 slots already out there, EVGA hopes to cash in with its newest product.

The GeForce GTX 285 Classified sticks to reference NVIDIA clock speeds of 648/1242 MHz (core/memory), while leaving it to the user to overclock it, by providing a number of design enhancements. It also sticks to having 1 GB of memory. To begin with, this card features a full 8-phase digital-PWM power design, and makes use of high-grade components such as film capacitors. EVGA Releases SLI Enhancement Patch v16 (08.25.09)

EVGA released its 16th iteration of the SLI Enhancement Patch, a piece of software that adds SLI profiles of usually new games to the NVIDIA GeForce driver. SLI profiles are application-specific bits of software that let the application take advantage of two or more NVIDIA GPUs in SLI, or on dual-GPU cards. v16 (08.25.09) is based on GeForce 190.62 drivers, and enables SLI support for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood Demo, apart from the numerous new game titles the driver brings in support for, including Wolfenstein Multiplayer, Allods: Online, Battlefield 1943, BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams, Cities XL, Death to Spies: Moment of Truth, Empire: Time of Troubles, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Mini Ninjas, Risen, Saboteur, Star Wars Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and Tales of Monkey Island. EVGA's P55 Motherboard Lineup Detailed

Although not as old as someone like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, or DFI, in the motherboards scene, EVGA's recent motherboards have shown the company has very quickly matured and can look other companies in the eye, when it comes to enthusiast-grade motherboards for DIY system builders. Recently, the EVGA P55 FTW aka 132-LF-E657 earned some media coverage. The rest of the lineup, top to bottom, includes: P55 Classified 200, P55 FTW 200 (141-LF-E658-KR), P55 SLI (132-LF-E655-KR), P55 LE (123-LF-E653-KR), and the P55 Micro (121-LF-E652-KR).

The P55 Classified 200, and P55 FTW 200 carry nForce 200 bridge chips that make 3-way SLI possible, and faster. While not much is known about the Classified, it intends to roof the lineup with every enthusiast-grade feature available. One of the distinct features include a "Show Volt" panel, that eliminates the need for a multi-meter to physically read voltages. An LED display on the NE corner of the board displays voltages, as the probes connect to various voltage readout points. The P55 FTW 200 features four PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots in all, to support 3-way SLI. It electrical lane arrangement is detailed in the slide below. Like the Classified 200 and P55 FTW, this one supports the EVbot (discussed later).

NVIDIA SLI Technology Now Licensed For INTEL Core i7 And Core i5 Platforms

NVIDIA Corporation today announced that Intel Corporation, and the world's other leading motherboard manufacturers, including ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte, and MSI, have all licensed NVIDIA SLI technology for inclusion on their Intel P55 Express Chipset-based motherboards designed for the upcoming Intel Core i7 and i5 processor in the LGA1156 socket. As a result, customers who purchase a validated P55-based motherboard and Core i7 or Core i5 processor when available can equip their PCs with any combination of NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, including Quad SLI, for the ultimate visual computing experience.

"NVIDIA SLI technology is a perfect complement to the processing prowess of our new Core i7 and Intel DP55KG desktop board," said Clem Russo, VP and General Manager of Intel Client Board Division at Intel Corporation. "NVIDIA and Intel share a combined passion for furthering the PC as the definitive platform for gaming, and this combination will surely be attractive to anyone building or purchasing a brand new PC this fall."

EVGA Expands GTX 295 CO-OP Lineup with Superclocked and FTW Variants

EVGA expanded its GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP (single PCB) lineup with two factory-overclocked models, the GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP Superclocked (model: 017-P3-1296-AR) and GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP FTW (017-P3-1298-AR). Both accelerators have identical packaging and design (the reference NVIDIA design), and feature two GT200 GPUs with 240 shader processors each, and memory sub-systems of 896 MB, 448-bit GDDR3.

The Superclocked model traditionally has a mild level of factory-overclocked speeds: 602/1296/2052 MHz (core/shader/memory), as against the reference speeds of 576/1246/2016 MHz. The FTW ("for the win", in gamer jargon), sports the top level of factory-overclocked speeds, at 684/1476/2160 MHz (core/shader/memory). Both are listed on EVGA online store. The GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP Superclocked is priced at US $519.99, while the GeForce GTX 295 CO-OP FTW asks for $559.99.

EVGA's Enthusiast Platform for LGA-1156 Processors Detailed

EVGA seems to have found its roots in Intel's 5-series chipset due to lack of chipsets from NVIDIA that support the latest Intel processors. In the process, EVGA gets to make Intel 5-series motherboards brandishing SLI support, as well as some pretty impressive enthusiast-grade features. With the X58 Classified series, EVGA took on the mighty ASUS to give out a full-featured motherboard for overclocking LGA-1366 processors. It looks like the company is working on another motherboard with similar credentials for LGA-1156 socket processors, based on the Intel P55/P57 chipset.

EVGA Intros InterView 1700 Dual-Panel Display

EVGA keeps growing its visual-computing product lineup by the day, and has made its first major product in the PC display a reality. The InterView 1700 is a dual-panel display that holds two LCD panels side-by-side. The two panels are suspended on a central frame with joints that allow them to individually turn 180 degrees, and fold 90 degrees, so the viewer can customise the viewing experience. What's more, the frame itself bends 180 degrees.

Each panel is 17 inch widescreen LCD, with native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, response time of 8 m, and 500:1 static contrast ratio. The central frame holds a 1.3 megapixel web-cam built in. It takes input from dual-link DVI and HDMI. At US $650, the EVGA InterView 1700 is targeted at financial analysts, accountants, scientific installations, medical imaging, and other professionals.
