EVGA Unveils ROBOCLOCKER - Extreme, Semi-Closed Loop LN2 Cooling Solution

EVGA today announced a new development achieved by its engineering teams and in-house overclockers Vince "KINGPIN" Lucido and Illya "TiN" Tsemenko. The new solution, dubbed the ROBOCLOCKER, aims to allow for greater efficiency and ease-of-use in extreme cooling solutions using liquid nitrogen, by providing a basis for a semi-closed loop.

EVGA says this new extreme cooling solution allowed KINGPIN and TiN to break 5 new 3DMark World Records, thus paving the way for future World Record overclocking setups. You can watch a video demonstrating the ROBOCLOCKER in action after the break.

EVGA Announces Automatic Extension to New PSU Warranties For a Limited Time

EVGA today announced that they're starting a special, limited-time promotion on most of its PSU line-up. The offer, which lasts from tomorrow, June 5th, until December 31st 2018, will see the warranty period on specific families of EVGA PSUs automatically extended to up to 12 years of Limited Warranty. EVGA says this is a testament on their confidence in their own PSUs and their ability to withstand continuous usage throughout the years.

There are some tiers to this "automatic" warranty extension, however. Namely, different power supply families will see varying increases in their warranty periods - a way of acknowledging different longevity and quality of more expensive, more premium PSUs as well. As it stands, EVGA's -L Suffix graphics cards will see an upgrade to 4 Year Limited Warranty; -K Suffix PSUs to a 5 Year Limited Warranty; -V Suffix will be upgraded to a 7 Year Limited Warranty; -Y Suffix to 9 years; and finally, -X suffix will see the biggest increase to the maximum 12 years Limited Warranty. The increase amounts to 2 additional years of coverage period for each suffix of power supplies, but leaves out some PSUs in EVGA's catalog - namely -BR, -RX, and -RB suffixes. So pay good attention to what PSU you're buying if you're counting on getting an extended warranty for this critical component of your new - or revamped - build.

EVGA Says Goodbye to Driver DVDs

Jacob Freeman, Global Product Management Director at EVGA, has confirmed via a Tweet that future EVGA motherboards (H370 Stinger included) will no longer come with a driver DVD. Instead, the consumer will receive a sleek 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive with all the necessary drivers and software. While some users might argue that it's good practice to get the latest drivers from the motherboard support page, you still need to install the network driver to access the internet after a fresh Windows installation. EVGA's decision is a well thought-out one as not all system builders include an optical drive in their builds or want to spend $15 on one just to install a driver. The included flash drive is re-writeable, so users can store other things on it if desired. Jacob commented that the cost of including a standard 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive is about twenty times that of an old-school DVD. Nevertheless, EVGA motherboard prices will not increase to cover the cost.

EVGA Intros GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Elite in Two New Color Variants

EVGA today introduced two new color variants of its GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Elite Gaming graphics card. These include the Green (model: 11G-P4-6693-K4), and blue (11G-P4-6693-K3). EVGA colored the aluminium frame-type cooler shroud with anodized blue or green paint. That's all there is to these variants, which are priced on par with the regular model that has a silver shroud color. The factory-overclocked cards ship with clock speeds of 1556 MHz base, 1670 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 11 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory. Both new variants are priced the same, at USD $949.99, on EVGA web-store.

EVGA Removes Guest RMA Option - Register Your Card for RMA

EVGA in a potentially controversial move, removed the "Guest RMA" option from its aftersales support. The option allowed consumers to return their DOA or broken graphics cards back to EVGA for replacements, without having to register their products with EVGA (thereby giving their data to the company). Consumers now have to register their products, which entails creating an EVGA membership (volunteering information such as your name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address). Only after creating an account, and registering your product, will you be able to file a standard RMA request with EVGA, a graphics card vendor which otherwise built a reputation of having the best product warranty, RMA, and upgrade policies in the industry.

EVGA Intros CLC 120 CL11 Liquid CPU Cooler

EVGA today introduced the CLC 120 CL11 all-in-one, closed-loop, liquid CPU cooler (model: 400-HY-CL11-V1). The cooler is based on an all new pump-block design that appears to be more cost-effective than the rounded-square pump-block EVGA uses on its original CLC series coolers. It lacks RGB LED lighting, but offers "improved coolant flow-rate, and higher surface-area for heat dissipation," according to EVGA. Taking advantage of the higher coolant pressure, EVGA deployed a slightly thicker radiator, which is 30 mm thick compared to the 27 mm thickness of the original's radiator.

This is a bi-metal liquid cooler, in that the block is made of copper, while the radiator is made of aluminium. The company still backs it with a 5-year warranty. The block supports only Intel sockets, including LGA2066, LGA2011(v3), and LGA115x. The other area of cost-cutting appears to be the included fan. It has a simpler impeller design than the one EVGA includes with the CLC 120, and only has 2/3rds its maximum airflow. The "Teflon nano bearing" makes way for simpler sleeve bearing; speeds range up to 1,800 RPM (the original spins up to 2,400 RPM), and maximum airflow is 58.87 CFM (against 74.87 CFM of the original). Available now, the EVGA CLC 120 CL11 is priced at USD $59.99, $30 cheaper than the original CLC 120.

Imitation is The Sincerest Form of Flattery... That Colorful Can Show EVGA?

As I was scouring the Internet and usual places for news stories to share on our beloved TechPowerUp!, I came across an unsuspecting link that triggered my "Oh no, they didn't" sensors. The story title, as posted on Reddit: "Chinese brand Colorful's "about" page is literally copied and pasted from EVGA's." I was torn, right there and then, by the "Oh no they didn't" reaction and a slight pinprick towards the "Of course they did" catharsis. And then I went to the "About" sites for both companies. I read, re-read, and re-re-read each company's "About Us" statement. The result was a warm, fuzzy feeling of incredulity and laughter.

Not only did Colorful copy and paste EVGA's About page, they... Introduced some grammatical and spelling errors as well. I believe I know how this might have happened: an intern at Colorful, tasked with thinking up a glorious, customer-centric "About Us" page, got tired of his company's policy of not allowing workers to play PUBG on the company computers and graphics cards (remember, Colorful dominates this PUBG market). As a way to get back at Colorful, he devised a devious way of getting revenge: subjecting Colorful to the Internet's scrutiny. His tools: copy, paste, and some strategically placed deletes and extra letters to add insult to injury. If I were a Colorful customer, I'd start claiming my "24/7 tech service, 90 day Step-Up program". Just don't go over to the headquarters mentioned in Colorful's "About Us" page. The EVGA employees you encounter there might not find your move very amusing. We, however, do. Oh yes we do.

EVGA Enters Gaming Peripherals Foray with Z10 Gaming Keyboard

EVGA Announces GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FTW Ultra Silent Graphics Card

EVGA debuted a new graphics card sub-brand, the FTW Ultra Silent, with a new custom-design GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card, the EVGA GTX 1070 Ti Ultra Silent FTW. This 3-slot thick card has a chunkier aluminium fin-stack heatsink, and has a higher fan cutoff threshold than other cards from EVGA, such as the GTX 1070 Ti FTW2. So the card's fans stay off not just when the GPU is idling, but also when it's under load, until it reaches a higher temperature threshold.

As with every other GTX 1070 Ti card launched till date, the card ships with NVIDIA reference clock speeds of 1607 MHz core, 1683 MHz GPU Boost, and 8.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. It draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power inputs, and display connectors include three DP and one each of HDMI and DVI. The card is sold out on EVGA's online store, where it was priced USD $499.

EVGA Z370 Micro Motherboard Starts Selling

EVGA's premium micro-ATX motherboard based on Intel Z370 chipset, the Z370 Micro, started selling at USD $179.99. The board was announced alongside the rest of the company's Z370 lineup, earlier this October. Designed for enthusiast-grade micro-ATX builds, the EVGA Z370 micro features a standard 240 mm x 240 mm PCB, but with cutouts for the angled 24-pin ATX and 6-pin PCIe power inputs. Besides the two, it draws power from an 8-pin EPS and 4-pin ATX power connectors, conditioning it for the CPU with a 10-phase VRM. The CPU socket features 150% higher gold content in the pins. The LGA1151 socket is wired to two reinforced DDR4 DIMM slots, supporting up to 32 GB of dual-channel memory, and two reinforced PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/NC or x8/x8), with SLI support. An x4 slot makes for the rest of the expansion.

Storage connectivity includes two 32 Gb/s M.2 slots (from which one is occupied with the WLAN card), and six SATA 6 Gb/s ports. Eight USB 3.0 ports, and a number of USB 2.0 ports make for the USB connectivity. Network connectivity includes an Intel-made WLAN card with 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1. The lone 1 GbE interface is driven by an Intel i219-V controller. A Realtek ALC1220 CODEC drives the 8-channel HD audio. Overclocker-friendly features include dual-BIOS with manual switching, POST debug 7-seg display, angled case-fan headers, onboard POST speaker, and power/reset buttons.

EVGA today introduced its flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti K|ngp|n Hydro Copper (model: 11G-P4-6799), tuned by the legendary overclocker Vince "K|ngp|n" Lucido himself. The card features the choicest VRM components, binned "GP102" ASIC and GDDR5X memory chips, to support not just the highest overclocking headroom among EVGA's lineup, but also its highest factory-overclocked speeds of 1582 MHz core, 1695 MHz GPU Boost, and 11.00 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory clocks.

The card is intended to be plumbed to your own liquid-cooling loop, and comes with an all-copper, full-coverage water-block. EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Graphics Cards Pictures Out in the Wild

The GTX 1070 Ti is likely one of the worst kept secrets in recent history of graphics cards launches - whether by accident or design, only NVIDIA fully knows. Now, it's EVGA's lineup of graphics cards based on this overpowered version of the GTX 1070 graphics card that has surfaced. No less than four different models have been pictured, which still likely don't represent the entirety of EVGA's lineup for this particular piece of GP-104 silicon.

Besides a simple, blower-type design, akin to today's leak of ASUS's GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Turbo Edition, EVGA will be launching at least three different SKUs with their signature ICX cooler design series, with varying levels of customization on the PCB and power delivery designs.

EVGA Caught Sending Golden Samples of the SuperNova B3 to JonnyGuru

An Overclock.net member, "shilka", posted late last month over the failure of power protection in EVGA's SuperNova B3 power supplies, specifically the 450 and 850 W models. This adds to the concerns first raised by Tom's Hardware, one of whose review units created fireworks. Normally, for a product that has been on the market for some time, as the B3 series has, one could chalk up such incidents to a faulty batch. But it appears that might not be the case, considering JonnyGuru also reviewed EVGA's B3 and did not encounter any fire hazards.

It has subsequently emerged that the sample provided by EVGA to JonnyGuru was manufactured by Super Flower, whose Leadex platform is well known for its performance and high quality. Aris of Tom's Hardware (and TechPowerUp), however, bought their review sample from a retail outlet. The manufacturing of the latter had been outsourced to RSY, with (in this case) a resulting decline in build quality. It remains unclear whether Super Flower outsourced its production, or if EVGA is using multiple suppliers or switched manufacturers all together. Regardless, lesser quality PSUs would appear to be in stores in comparison to what was reviewed at JonnyGuru, arguably the most influential review site for PSUs.

EVGA Introduces Z370 Series Motherboards

EVGA has announced three new enthusiast motherboards based on Intel's Z370 Express chipset. These boards support Intel's brand new eighth generation processors, including the powerful i7 8700K. All three boards feature metal-reinforced PCI Express and memory slots, NVIDIA SLI support, and M.2 slots. Also included are Gigabit NICs from either Intel or Killer, multiple headers for RGB lighting, and unique cutouts in the boards to make cable routing easier.

The Z370 Series comes in three models: the full ATX Z370 Classified K and Z370 FTW, and the Z370 Micro in the micro ATX form factor. All three are clad in a black and gray color scheme, leaving color accents and lighting styles up to the user. VRM and southbridge heat sinks will keep overclocked systems cool, with the two larger boards sporting gray heat sink and I/O covers with RGB lighting that can be synced with the onboard headers. All three boards have 100% solid state capacitors, and DUAL switchable onboard BIOS chips, which should make for hassle-free overclocking.
