NVIDIA Announces GeForce 337.88 WHQL "Game Ready" Drivers

With summer upon us, and some sizzling hot PC games hitting the shelves, times call for the latest GPU drivers to deal with the games, especially with 4K Ultra HD entering the sub-$1000 consumer space. NVIDIA rolled out its GeForce 337.88 WHQL driver suite, which is the second of its kind to bear the name "Game Ready." It does so, because it ships with a huge amount of performance optimizations specific to games. The drivers also attempt to increase NVIDIA's competitiveness over AMD at higher display resolutions, namely 3840 x 2160 (UHD), and 2560 x 1440 (WQHD).

At UHD resolutions, NVIDIA promises performance gains of 10 percent or more, with Call of Duty: Ghosts, F1 2013, Hitman Absolution, Sniper Elite V2, DiRT 3, Just Cause 2, and Team Fortress 2. At WQHD, performance gains in excess of 10 percent are promised for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Sleeping Dogs, StarSwarm, Thief, World of Tanks, Hitman Absolution, Team Fortress 2, and Just Cause 2. The new drivers iron out compatibility issues with both MST and SST type Ultra HD monitors. SLI profiles are added or improved for thirteen titles, including Watch_Dogs, Windbourne, Daylight, Call of Duty: Online, and PlanetSide 2.

EVGA Releases SLI Enhancement Patch

EVGA today announced a new piece of value-added feature for its customers: the EVGA SLI Enhancement. The feature forms as a part of NVIDIA Forceware drivers that has an expanded SLI profiles list. To make full use of two or more GPUs teamed in an SLI setup, games and 3D applications need "SLI profiles". The general Forceware driver isn't necessarily in tune with the frequency at which new games are released. EVGA has taken the initiative to release SLI profiles for games before NVIDIA does.

The company released the first release of the SLI Enhancement (version: 02.11.09), which is based on NVIDIA Forceware 182.05 driver suite, and supports the entire range of graphics products EVGA currently sells. When installed, the software intends to boost performance in SLI setups for Burnout Paradise and Necrovision Demo (DX10 Mode), apart from all the applications Forceware 182.05 already has profiles for. The software is exclusive for registered EVGA customers. Visit this page for more.

NVIDIA Releases Graphics Plus Power Pack #2

NVIDIA adopted the marketing strategy of Graphics Plus, meaning that they intend to show their products as something more than just graphics hardware. The introduction of the CUDA GPGPU platform, and the subsequent introduction of GPU-acceleration physics in the form of NVIDIA PhysX helped the cause. The company released the Power Pack software delivery system back in August, which served as a mode for delivering not only system drivers, but also related content such as free games, technology demos, game demos, free software and software trials. The user can choose what to download, by customizing the Power Pack.

NVIDIA released Power Pack #2, the second major iteration, consisting of changes to the list of things that can be downloaded. The pack now includes Warmonger (full free game) with two new levels: Tombstone & Asylum. It includes three new tech demos, a PhysX accelerated screensaver, and most notably, trial versions of Power Director 7, TMPGENC XPRESS 4.6.2.266 and Badaboom media converter, all of which take advantage of GPU acceleration. Apart from these, the usual contents of Power Pack #1 are also included. At any point in time, the Power Pack includes the latest system drivers of NVIDIA Forceware, and PhysX system software. SLI Performance Previewed on X58 with GTX260 216SP and Forceware 180.32

Expreview has got its hands on the NVIDIA Forceware Beta Driver 180.32 and used it to setup and enable SLI with two Galaxy GTX260-216, on an Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard. The cards scored a 3DMark Vantage score of P21623, compared against a single card score of P10920 gives an approximate 98% increase. Currently it is only possible to enable SLI officially on NVIDIA based chipsets, only AMD's equivalent Crossfire system works on Intel chipsets. It is evident that the 180 series of Forceware drivers from NVIDIA (dubbed Big Bang II) not only brings multi-monitor SLI support, but also paves the way to enabling SLI on the Intel X58 Chipset. In another article, Expreview have also mentioned that the beta driver 180.42, will be officially released from NVIDIA later on today, with the final version set for November 17th this year, coinciding with the launch of Intel's Core i7 and X58.

NVIDIA 180 Series Driver with Multi-Monitor SLI Support Previewed

VR-Zone has posted a preview of NVIDIA's 180.10 drivers also known as the "Big Bang II" that will bring multi-monitor SLI support for GeForce owners. The VR article shows what this driver will offer in terms of SLI with multi monitor support and the performance effects of implementing multiple monitors in SLI mode. NVIDIA was supposed to publish the "Big Bang II" driver in September, but that never happened.
