NVIDIA Announces GeForce 337.88 WHQL "Game Ready" Drivers

With summer upon us, and some sizzling hot PC games hitting the shelves, times call for the latest GPU drivers to deal with the games, especially with 4K Ultra HD entering the sub-$1000 consumer space. NVIDIA rolled out its GeForce 337.88 WHQL driver suite, which is the second of its kind to bear the name "Game Ready." It does so, because it ships with a huge amount of performance optimizations specific to games. The drivers also attempt to increase NVIDIA's competitiveness over AMD at higher display resolutions, namely 3840 x 2160 (UHD), and 2560 x 1440 (WQHD).

At UHD resolutions, NVIDIA promises performance gains of 10 percent or more, with Call of Duty: Ghosts, F1 2013, Hitman Absolution, Sniper Elite V2, DiRT 3, Just Cause 2, and Team Fortress 2. At WQHD, performance gains in excess of 10 percent are promised for Call of Duty: Ghosts, Sleeping Dogs, StarSwarm, Thief, World of Tanks, Hitman Absolution, Team Fortress 2, and Just Cause 2. The new drivers iron out compatibility issues with both MST and SST type Ultra HD monitors. SLI profiles are added or improved for thirteen titles, including Watch_Dogs, Windbourne, Daylight, Call of Duty: Online, and PlanetSide 2.

Finally, BF4 runs well without constant hiccups or stuttering using 660TI.

FWIW, I just happened to finally install & start playing Hitman Absolution for the first time yesterday. On my AMD FX-8350, Gigabyte Windforce 3X GeForce 770, 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600MHz (using whatever the recommended game settings were in GeForce Experience) I was averaging 41-45 FPS in the in-game benchmark. Today, after installing the new drivers, I am averaging 51-55 FPS. Not bad for a free 15-second update.

Will have to download it on my laptop to see how well or if it bumps my GTX 675m up a bit. Sounds like a nice driver set!
