In addition to launching the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, NVIDIA could adjust prices of two of its key high-end SKUs to make them competitive with AMD's lineup. Prices of the GeForce GTX 780, which is currently priced at $649.99, and retails for as low as $620, could be slashed down to $499.99. The $399 GeForce GTX 770, which is losing ground to the Radeon R9 280X, which is $100 cheaper than it, could see its price slashed down to $329.99. The GeForce GTX 780 Ti could become NVIDIA's fastest single-GPU product, faster than even the GTX TITAN, and could occupy a $699.99 price-point. We're not sure if NVIDIA will continue to manufacture GTX TITAN. In addition, buyers of GTX 780 and GTX 770 will receive two things, a game bundle and a discount coupon for NVIDIA Shield. The bundle includes Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The discount coupon for NVIDIA Shield will shave a cool $100 off its $299.99 price.

If at $549.99, AMD's Radeon R9 290X trumps the $650 GeForce GTX 780, and $1000 GeForce GTX TITAN, the Radeon R9 290 (non-X) could make NVIDIA's offerings look even worse. AMD could give the R9 290 a starting price of $449.99, $100 cheaper than the R9 290X. All you stand to lose between the two are 256 stream processors, 16 TMUs, and a slightly lower GPU clock speed, of 946 MHz, according to leaked specifications. Late last week, a handful benchmarks of the R9 290 were leaked to the web, which showed the chip to be highly competitive, and sometimes even faster, than the GTX 780, at $200 lower the price. Arabic publication DarkLord Tech posted a handful more benchmark results to show just that.

Given that Radeon R9 290X trades blows with the $1000 GeForce GTX TITAN at just 55 percent its price, the GeForce GTX 780 Ti, which NVIDIA teased just ahead of AMD's launch, had to be one of two things - cheaper than the GTX 780, or faster than the GTX TITAN, or end up a futile maneuver for NVIDIA. It turns out the chip will be the latter. Leaked 3DMark 11 scores posted on XtremeSystem claim that the GTX 780 Ti will be at least 5 percent faster than the GTX TITAN in the test, and so NVIDIA is aiming to make the chip a faster alternative to the GTX TITAN. What remains to be seen is if displaces the $1000 GTX TITAN, or the $650 GTX 780 from the product stack.

If these performance numbers posted by credible reviewers at OCUK hold up, then AMD could have a second, more affordable graphics card for you, which outperforms NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 780, at least in synthetic benchmarks. In a brief performance run that spans synthetic tests, which included Unigine Heaven 3.0 at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, with normal level of tessellation; 3DMark 11 (performance preset) and 3DMark Fire Strike (both Normal and Extreme); the card we believe to be R9 290 (name blurred out in the graphs) is consistently faster than the GeForce GTX 780 reference, in the same bench.

Based on the same 28 nm "Hawaii" silicon as the Radeon R9 290X, the R9 290 is its more affordable sibling, featuring 2,560 Graphics CoreNext stream processors, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and a 512-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 4 GB of memory. It features clock speeds of 947 MHz (core), and 5.00 GHz (memory, GDDR5-effective). There's no word on pricing, but it could be available from the 31st of October, 2013.

With benchmarks of the Radeon R9 290X doing rounds, it's getting increasingly clear that NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 780 won't remain competitive with the Radeon R9 290X for too long; and the R9 290X isn't competitive with the GeForce GTX TITAN enough to warrant a price-cut for the $999.99 SKU. NVIDIA's solution to the tangle is a newer SKU that replaces the GTX 780 from its current $649.99 price-point, which trades blows with the R9 290X. Called GeForce GTX 780 Ti, the SKU could be an overclocked GTX 780, or one that ships with a few more CUDA cores. NVIDIA didn't reveal any technical specifications, other than posting a teaser picture CGI render. To quote NVIDIA on this, "Stay tuned for details."

Here are results from the first formal review of the Radeon R9 290X, AMD's next-generation flagship single-GPU graphics card. Posted by Chinese publication PCOnline.com.cn, the it sees the R9 290X pitted against the GeForce GTX TITAN, and GeForce GTX 780. An out-of-place fourth member of the comparison is the $299 Radeon R9 280X. The tests present some extremely interesting results. Overall, the Radeon R9 290X is faster than the GeForce GTX 780, and trades blows, or in some cases, surpasses the GeForce GTX TITAN. The R9 290X performs extremely well in 3DMark: FireStrike, and beats both NVIDIA cards at Metro: Last Light. In other tests, its half way between the GTX 780 and GTX TITAN, leaning closer to the latter in some tests. Power consumption, on the other hand, could either dampen the deal, or be a downright dealbreaker. We'll leave you with the results.More results follow.

The company is also expected to introduce price-cuts across its entire lineup, to make it competitive with AMD's. NVIDIA could tap into its existing GK104 and GK106 silicons to carve out the two new SKUs ranging between $149.99 and $249.99. The idea here would be to topple Radeon R9 270X. Price-cuts could be directed at the likes of GeForce GTX 760 and GTX 770, to make them competitive with the Radeon R9 280X, while in anticipation of the $599 pricing of the R9 290X, NVIDIA could rethink pricing of its $650 GeForce GTX 780, and $1000 GTX TITAN.

Leadtek rolled out the GeForce GTX 780 Hurricane III graphics card. The card combines a reference-design NVIDIA PCB with the company's homebrew Hurricane III cooling solution, which facilitates a small factory overclock, of 876 MHz core, and 928 MHz GPU Boost, compared to 863/900 MHz NVIDIA reference clock speeds. The memory is left untouched at 6.00 GHz. The cooler uses a large aluminium fin stack, to which heat drawn directly from the GPU is fed by a number of copper heat pipes, and ventilated by three fans, two of which are 74 mm, and one (center) 85 mm. Power is drawn by a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe connectors. Slated to 20th September, the card is expected to be priced on-par with reference-design cards.

TechPowerUp announced the latest update to GPU-Z, the popular graphics hardware information, monitoring and diagnostics utility. Ahead of its launch, pictures of MSI's GeForce GTX 780 Lightning graphics cards were leaked to the web by HardwareZone (now redacted), and reposted by WCCFTech. Pictures reveal never before seen PCB and cooler designs. To begin with, MSI is using a brand new cooling solution called TriFrozr. It combines a large compound dual fin-stack heatsink, to which heat is fed by seven 8 mm-thick heat pipes, with an array of three fans, two larger 100 mm ones on the edges, and a smaller 70 mm one in the center. The fans feature independent control system, which lets you tweak speeds of individual fans, over software. An LED-lit badge doubles up as a GPU load indicator. A swanky back-plate lines the reverse side.

Under this elaborate cooling solution is a brute of a PCB. Drawing power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the custom-design PCB by MSI features a 20-phase digital PWM voltage regulation, which use a combination of high current chokes, International Rectifier PowIRstage, DirectFET chips, tantalum capacitors, and MSI's GPU Reactor module that cuts out electrical noise. The GPU is wired to 7 GT/s rated Elpida-branded memory chips, and three (that's right, three) GPU BIOS ROMs. One stores a failsafe reference BIOS, another factory-OC air BIOS, and one that primes the GPU for liquid-nitrogen cooling-assisted overclocking. MSI is expected to launch the GTX 780 Lightning on August 28, 2013, priced around $800.

What was once retailing for $1,100-1,200, is now down to $699.99. Prices of the card on American retailer Newegg.com, are ranging between $699.99 to $789.99, with two AIBs capturing the $729.99 and $749.99 price points, along the way. With the right kind of CrossFire profiles, a Radeon HD 7990 can offer frame-rates rivaled only by GTX Titan and GTX 690. Then there are also AMD's recent CrossFire micro-stuttering fix, and eight Never Settle games with realistic resale value of $100 to account for. These prices should also give GeForce GTX 780 buyers second thoughts.

Multi-GPU liquid-cooling setups can be tricky business, and if not done well, could look ugly. To address this, Koolance launched the CNT-VDBx series of connecting blocks for multi-GPU setups running GeForce GTX 780 or GeForce GTX Titan graphics cards, with the company's VID-NXTTN full-coverage block. These connector-blocks each relay coolant in "parallel" over multiple graphics cards, while looking good. The connecting blocks are little more than metal tubing covered by acetal tops to match full-coverage blocks. These blocks are sold in pairs, for 2-point (two card, CNT-VDB1), 2-point over 3 slots (two card, CNT-VDB2), 3-point (three card, CNT-VDB3), and 4-point (four card, CNT-VDB4) variants, priced at $39.49, $42.49, $50.99, and $59.99, respectively.

Inno3D expanded its GeForce GTX 780 lineup with two additions, taking the count to four; the iChill Black GTX 780 Accelero Hybrid, the iChill GTX 780 HerculeZ 3000 X3 Ultra, iChill GTX 780 HerculeZ 2000 OC, and GTX 780 NVIDIA-reference. The iChill Black GTX 780 Accelero Hybrid, is practically identical to the company's iChill Black GTX TITAN Accelero Hybrid, combining an NVIDIA-reference PCB with Arctic's Accelero Hybrid closed-loop liquid cooling solution. The cooler uses a liquid cooling block to cool the GPU, and a fan-heatsink to cool other components, like the memory and VRM. With lack of memory chips on the reverse side of the PCB, we imagine the card to lack a back-plate.

The iChill Black GTX 780 Accelero Hybrid ships with factory-overclocked speeds of 1020 MHz core, 1059 MHz GPU Boost, and 6280 MHz (GDDR5-effective) memory; compared to NVIDIA reference speeds of 863 MHz core, 900 MHz GPU Boost, and 6008 MHz memory. Inno3D claims this to be the fastest GTX 780 card out-of-the-box that money can buy. Moving on, the company also unveiled the air-cooled iChill GTX 780 HerculeZ 3000 X3 Ultra. Redundant-sounding naming aside, the card features the same beefy HerculeZ 3000 cooling solution featured on several others of the company's products. It ships with factory-overclocked speeds of 1006 MHz core, 1046 MHz GPU Boost, and 6200 MHz memory. Both these cards are claimed by the company to be as fast, or faster, than a GeForce GTX TITAN, out of the box. The company didn't reveal pricing.
