Sony has today added to its INZONE gaming gear range with the INZONE M10S - a 27-inch OLED gaming monitor that is changing the game with super high 480 Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms response time and QHD resolution. Co-developed with leading esports team Fnatic, the INZONE M10S is designed to be tournament ready thanks to a 24.5-inch playing mode and new FPS Pro modes.

Sony is also introducing the INZONE M9 II - an update to its 4K HDR gaming monitor with backlight scanning added to improve motion clarity.

LG Electronics USA announced today pricing and availability of two new models to its LG UltraGear gaming monitor lineup - the 45-inch LG UltraGear GR75DC and the 45-inch LG UltraGear GR65DC. The GR65DC is available to purchase for $799.99 now at LG.com and LG-authorized retailers. For a limited time, customers shopping on LG.com can preorder the LG UltraGear GR75DC for $899.99 and receive an UltraGear GP9 gaming speaker ($399 ARV) along with free expedited shipping.

The newest LG UltraGear models feature a 45-inch 32:9 Ultrawide Dual QHD screen - providing what is the equivalent of two 24-inch 16:9 QHD displays on one monitor at the same time. Engineered for multi-tasking, the built in PBP (picture by picture) and PIP (picture in picture) features allow users to play console games while simultaneously streaming content on an ultra-wide screen.

There's no shortage of ultra wide 38-inch panels in the market, but InnoLux is hoping that there's a market for a 38-inch 4K panel in the more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The panel is based on InnoLux Azimuthal Anchoring Switch technology, also known as AAS, which is an IPS like panel type. The panel supports up to 144 Hz refresh rate, as well as a 5 ms grey to grey response time, in other words, very similar to smaller 4K IPS based displays.

Other features include support for HDR 600—which seems to be slowly replacing HDR 400 as the standard in the mid-range gaming monitor space—and support for 98 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. For those wanting some more tangible measurements, the active area of the panel measures 841 x 473 mm (rounded to nearest full digit), suggesting it's a full 20 centimeters wider and roughly 15 centimeters taller than your average 27-inch 4K display panel.

IGZO or Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide is a type of semiconducting material that has been used in displays by Sharp since 2012, although mainly for mobile devices courtesy of being more power efficient compared to standard IPS panels. There doesn't seem to have been much interest by other players in the display industry to use the material, although there have been other IGZO based display panels in the past. However, at Touch Taiwan, InnoLux showed off no less than two new display panels relying on IGZO, both targeting gamers. Both panels measure 27-inches and support HDR 600. The 2560 x 1440 model is capable of a massive 480 Hz, a refresh rate that was only possible using TN panels to date.

The second display panel offers 3840 x 2160 resolution at 240 Hz, which isn't unique on the market, but as these IGZO panels are based around IPS rather than VA technology, they shouldn't suffer from the dreaded ghosting that many VA panels suffer from. InnoLux was very sparse on other technology details, but both panels have a 98 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and the QHD display has a grey to grey response time of 3 ms, whereas the 4K variant is a bit higher at 5 ms. Both panels looked stunning and this might be what many gamers have been waiting for, at least as a stop gap before OLED displays become more affordable.

For those that find a 270 Hz refresh rate a bit on the laggy side when gaming at 2560 x 1440, ASUS has updated its ROG Strix series of monitors with the XG27AQMR model. The R on the end of the model name denotes the higher refresh rate, as well as support for DisplayHDR 600 over the previous model in the series. Although the two monitors are said to be using a Fast IPS panel, the new model has a 1 ms Grey to Grey response time, whereas the older model is rated at 0.5 ms.

All the gaming features you'd expect to find are of course included, such are FreeSync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatibility, ELMB which can be combined with FreeSync and various other ASUS specific features such as GameFast Input technology and GameVisual. The inputs haven't changed from the previous model in the series either, which means there's one DP 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as a USB-B input and two USB-A ports, all supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, or 5 Gbps. The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment. No word on pricing, but the previous model retails for around US$650, so we'd expect a small price premium on top of that for the higher refresh rate and improved HDR support.

Samsung Electronics today announced the global launch of Odyssey Neo G7 (Model name: G70NC), the company's first flat Mini-LED model, adding a new form factor to the industry-leading Odyssey lineup. The new monitor delivers a large screen designed to give gamers a more comprehensive range of vision and details—inviting them to the worlds of their games with lifelike picture quality.

The metoric rise of Hisense as a consumer electronics giant is attributable to its cost-effective smart TVs and home appliances, but with the 2023 International CES, the company stated it intention to dominate the gaming monitor and home cinema markets. The company showed off a wealth of conventional-sized and large-format gaming displays based on cutting-edge tech such as Mini-LED illuminated Fast IPS. The new G7H is a new line of planar 25-inch and 27-inch gaming monitors that feature just that—a Fast IPS panel with 576 min-LED backlit illumination diodes, 170 Hz refresh-rate with 1 ms response time, 1440p resolution, DisplayHDR 600 certification, and 97% coverage of DCI-P3, along with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

The U7K is technically a 43-inch TV that Hisense wants to market as a large format gaming monitor, although it does pack the entire set of the company's smart TV features. The display offers 4K Ultra HD resolution a Mini-LED illuminated Quantum Dot panel, 144 Hz refresh-rate, Dolby Vision Atmos, and 1,000 nits maximum brightness. Hisense also unveiled its Laser TV home projectors ranging for projection sizes ranging between 65-inch to 150-inch, featuring a triple-laser light source, 107% BT.2020 coverage, 1,600 ANSI lumens brightness, 4K Ultra HD native resolution, and Dolby Atmos. Its in-built 2.1 speaker set has been sourced from JBL by Harman. The projector supports both Chromecast (in-built), and Apple AirPlay.

For those of you that find a 4K monitor to lack in resolution, but 8K being a bit too pricey, Dell announced a 6K option at CES in the shape of the 32-inch U3224KB monitor. The IPS Black panel features a 6144 x 3456 pixel resolution with 178 degree viewing angles, a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and it's also VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified. As this is a professional monitor, it offers a colour gamut that meets 99 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space, as well as 100 percent of the sRGB and Rec. 709 standards.

On the connectivity side, it supports Thunderbolt 4, with one input and one throughput, which includes 140 W power delivery, the highest we've seen to date from a monitor. It also has a pair of additional pop-out front facing USB-C ports, which can deliver 15 W of power, as well as a USB-A port, all of which are able to deliver data speeds of up to 10 Gbps and four rear mounted USB-A ports. Display inputs consist of one HDMI 2.1, one mini DP 2.1, one USB-C with unknown DisplayPort standard support, as well as one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports. Finally the U3224KB also features an RJ45 jack for Ethernet connectivity.
