Cherry Announces the MX Board 9.0

Cherry, makers of the Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switches, and keyboards under its own brand, today announced the MX Board 9.0, a high-end mechanical gaming keyboard featuring Cherry MX RGB switches. Measuring 500 mm x 220 mm x 65 mm (LxDxH), the keyboard comes in variants featuring RGB-lit Cherry MX Blue, MX Brown, and MX Red switches. The Cherry MX Board 9.0 is characterized by an inward-curving design that makes keys along the top easier to reach, an overall asymmetric design, and a large rotary multi-function dial. Cherry didn't announce pricing or availability.

ASUS ROG Claymore Gaming Keyboard Pictured

Here are some of the first pictures of ASUS' upcoming flagship gaming keyboard, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Claymore. This RGB LED-lit mechanical keyboard features a detachable NUM pad, so you get the convenience of the NUM pad at home, and the portability of a shorter 80-key keyboard when out on LANs. The detachable NUM pad provides two additional conveniences, a vertical multi-function scroll-wheel (volume control by default), and an additional USB 3.0 port. The company did not provide details such as the switch manufacturer, or the electronics at play, but you can bet that the lighting management will be care of the ASUS Aura suite.

Cougar Intros the Ultimus RGB Mechanical Keyboard

Cougar introduced the Ultimus RGB, a mechanical gaming keyboard with a standard 104-key set. The company did not mention the make of the switches. The keyboard is characterized by a steel top panel, with its keys in a standard layout. The keys feature RGB multi-color LED illumination, with the ability to set colors for individual keys, as well as setting up lighting zones and effects. The underlying electronics of the Ultimus RGB need no drivers, and feature N-key rollover over USB, 1000 Hz polling rate, and support for standardized Windows hotkeys. The keyboard measures 180 mm x 445 mm x 40 mm (DxWxH). The company didn't reveal pricing information.

Ozone unveiled a colorful new variant of its compact Strike Battle mechanical gaming keyboard, the Strike Battle Spectra. The keyboard features multi-color RGB LED key backlit illumination. The keyboard features a compact 80-key layout that does away with the num-pad, and features Cherry MX RGB switches. Also featured are 30 macro keys (using a function key activation), 64 KB of onboard memory to store the lighting and macro profiles, and electronics with anti-ghosting capability.

EpicGear Unveils Defiant White RGB Mechanical Keyboard

EpicGear unveiled the White RGB variant of its Defiant mechanical keyboard. This keyboard combines a black rubberized palm-rest with a matte bright white face-plate, and slightly off-white keys that have Cherry MX RGB switches under them. Each key can be made to light up in a different color. The keyboard features a simple 104-key set, with Function key enabling more media keys, but also includes a mouse scroll-wheel that acts like a volume control, and which you can push to mute/unmute. The company also showed off a gunmetal trim of this keyboard.

G.Skill Unveils RipJaws KM770 and KM570 MX Keyboards

G.Skill unveiled two new additions to its RipJaws gaming keyboard lineup, the KM770 and the KM550 MX (pictured in that order). The KM770 offers RGB lighting though Cherry MX RGB keys, Full NKRO with 100% anti-ghosting, the ability to reprogram every single key, dedicated media and macro keys, and an LED volume display. The KM550, on the other hand, features a simpler layout, with media keys bound to the Function key, and a single reddish orange key illumination. This keyboard comes in a variety of Cherry MX switch options.

Cougar Also Unveils the Ultimus and Attack X3 RGB Keyboards

Cougar brought two new mechanical gaming keyboards to the Computex floor, the Ultimus and Attack X3 RGB. The Ultimus features a simple and elegant design with an aluminium face-plate, a simple 104-key layout with Function key enabling various system macros, full N-key rollover in USB mode, and RGB LED lighting along its Cherry MX mechanical switches. The more familiar looking Attack X3 RGB is just a variant of the Attack X3, featuring RGB LED back-lighting the the keys. Not much else has changed from the original.

AZiO Unveils the MGK Alpha Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

AZiO unveiled the MGK Alpha, a high-end backlit mechanical keyboard. Away from the RGB madness, the MGK Alpha features elegant white LED back-lighting, a magnetic detachable palm-rest, a volume-control scrollwheel, an anodized-aluminium faceplate with brushed finish; and an anodized side-mesh. You get five programmable macro keys, and you can use the Function key to set even more macros using the included software. The keyboard allows hot-switching between three profiles programmed directly into it.

GIGABYTE XK-700 Xtreme Gaming Keyboard Pictured

GIGABYTE showed off its latest Xtreme Gaming keyboard, the XK-700, nearly completing its brand purism. This board features a minimalist design with an frosty aluminium front panel, a simple 104-key layout with a handful of macros and multimedia function keys, but underneath is a mechanical switch-set (brand currently unknown), with RGB LED lighting that not just lights up the key characters in different colors, but also puts up up a groovy light show as light from the elevated keys fall onto the aluminium panel.
