Varmilo, a renowned Chinese keyboard manufacturer, is adding a PUBG-inspired keyboard to their already exotic lineup. The new Chicken Dinner mechanical keyboard certainly upholds the company's reputation for uniqueness. It features a distinctive multi-colored theme and high-quality dye-sublimated PBT keycaps. And just to put the icing on the cake, Varmilo replaced the number keys and some of the function keys with the corresponding PUBG in-game key bindings. German switch maker Cherry officially announced their MX Low Profile RGB switches at CES 2018 a few days ago. Ducky Channel also seized this opportunity to promote their upcoming Ducky Blade Air mechanical keyboard which features the new low profile switches. EVGA is on the prowl for its share of the gaming peripherals market, with the new Z10 mechanical gaming keyboard (model: 801-ZT-N101-KR). Built with a solid aluminium body with a metal top-panel, and ABS back, the keyboard is characterized by its tiny LCD display (a la Logitech G15), which can be used to display a whole range of information, including game OSD, live data from EVGA Precision, keyboard macro mapping on-the-fly, etc. In addition to a standard 104-keyset, the Z10 has 7 cleverly positioned macro keys, and media shortcut keys. The keyboard will be available with Kailh Red and Brown switches, the one on display had Brown ones.

At its CES presentation, Tesoro also showed off its new Gram TKL keyboard. This is a tenkeyless (TKL) variant of the original Gram Spectrum (and not the newer Gram SE Spectrum). A tenkeyless keyboard lacks the NUM pad. The lack of the NUM pad shaves a good 12 cm from its width. Like the Gram Spectrum, it features Tesoro's in-house Agile mechanical switches (in red or white flavors), with 3.5 mm key travel, and 1.5 mm actuation, and 16.7 million-color RGB LED illumination. The rest of its feature-set is identical to that of the Gram Spectrum. Tesoro plans to launch the Gram TKL some time in the first half of 2018, but has not decided upon its pricing, yet. There's also the possibility of a white (body color) variant.

Tesoro had a few tricks up its sleeve at CES, and we spotted its latest gaming gear beginning with the now finalized Tesoro Gram XS keyboard. This keyboard retains the essential design of the Gram SPECTRUM, but is compacted in every dimension. Its frame is as thin as possible, the keycaps are flattened (chiclet-type), the overall body is thin (at just 14 mm), and yet it offers the linear or tactile/clicky feedback of conventional mechanical keyboards. The magic happens thanks to the all new TTC low profile mechanical switches that Tesoro say they were involved in the development of. GIGABYTE introduced the Aorus K9 Optical gaming keyboard. As its name suggests, this is a variant of the Aorus K9 mechanical keyboard, featuring optical switches. The keyboard is also splash-proof, chatter-proof, and feature a floating key design, in which the keys aren't entrenched into the frame, making them tougher to clean. The electronics provide N-key rollover and anti-ghosting. The keyboard features 16.8 million-color RGB multi-color back-lighting, which can be controlled with GIGABYTE RGB Fusion software. Sharkoon expands the lineup within their SKILLER series and introduces another keyboard with mechanical switches from Kailh: The Sharkoon SKILLER MECH SGK3 is the big brother of the recently released SGK2, which came without a number block. The new SGK3 is just as robust and offers, in addition to a number block, customizable RGB illumination with up to 16.8 million colors for the keys plus a gaming software with included macro manager.

Typical for the SKILLER MECH, the SGK3 utilizes the proven switches from Kailh. As usual, customers have the choice between blue, brown and red switches. The MantisTek GK2 is a popular 104-key mechanical keyboard that costs around $49.99. It has all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a keyboard aimed at gamers. It even comes with a keylogger, free of charge. Our colleagues from Tom's Hardware reported a rather disturbing story around this particular model. With the amount of stuff you can do on gaming keyboards nowadays, the majority comes with some kind of software for user customization. The MantisTek GK2 is no different. However, there have been multiple reports from owners claiming that the keyboard's software is actually a front to steal your valuable information.

Apparently, the keyboard's "Cloud Driver" is the culprit responsible for sending user information to a pair of IP addresses linked to Alibaba servers. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean Alibaba is stealing your data. Since the company also sells cloud services, it's quite possible that someone is using Alibaba servers to pull off the heist. After analyzing the software's online activity, users have discovered that the data being sent also included key presses. If you're one of the unlucky owners, it's recommended that you uninstall the software entirely. Make sure you block the CMS.exe executable and MantisTek Cloud Driver with your firewall as well.

The keyboard is one of the most basic and most used input devices that exist. It's also very useful in the virtual reality realm, since many applications require user input. For this same reason, Logitech has been working alongside HTC to develop a virtual keyboard for VR users. Their efforts have given fruits, and Logitech has officially announced their Bridge SDK. Users are required to purchase a Bridge developers kit which costs $150. The kit comes with a Logitech G gaming keyboard, a small accessory to attach the Vive Tracker to the keyboard, and the necessary software. As you may notice, the Vive Tracker is purchased separately, so that will set you back another $99.

Once everything is hooked up, the Bridge software will position a virtual keyboard over the physical one. Users can then see their hands and type on the keyboard without having to take off their VR headset. The only catch is that you must use the Logitech keyboard as models from other manufacturers aren't supported. However, Logitech does allow users to customize the virtual keyboard to some extent. They can change the keyboard's appearance, the font's size and colors, or highlight and hide the different keys.
