Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is an Incredibly Versatile Dual-Screen Convertible PC: A Walkthrough

It's a laptop, but it can be anything—the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i has the conventional shape of a clamshell notebook, except that there's a second touchscreen where you'd expect the keyboard an trackpad to be. You get a folio-type silicone keyboard with physical keys that provide tactile feedback, or you can pull up an on-screen keyboard on either screen and type with haptic feedback. As a Yoga product, the hinge turns 360°, and at 180° it can become a dual-screen setup. The possibilities are endless.

Under the hood is an Intel Core i7 U-series "Raptor Lake-U" 15 W 2P+8E SoC with 16 GB LPDDR5X memory; NVMe Gen 4 SSD, integrated Iris Xe graphics, and an 80 WHr battery. Each of the two 13.3-inch touchscreens has a 16:10 aspect-ratio and 1920 x 1200 resolution. Comms include Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2 (a 5G modem would be incredible).

Intel Finally Reveals its Software Defined Silicon as Intel On Demand

Back in September 2021, reports about Intel working on something called SDSi or software defined silicon, started to appear. Now, over a year later, the company has finally launched its SDSi products under the Intel On Demand branding. Back then, we speculated about what features Intel would put behind a paywall and although we were somewhat off track, Intel has put some specific "instructions" behind the paywall on the supported Xeon processors. Specifically, some CPUs will have Quick Assist, Dynamic Load Balancer and Data Streaming Accelerator available as an On Demand feature. Additionally, Intel is also putting its Software Guard Extensions and In-Memory Analytics Accelerator behind the same pay wall.

It appears that these features will be offered as-a-service offering from some of Intel's service partners, but there's also a "one-time activation of select CPU accelerators and security features" according to the Intel On Demand website. It's unclear which Xeon SKUs will get Intel On Demand, but according to The Register, it'll be the upcoming Sapphire Rapids based Xeon processors which should be the first parts affected. Intel has listed partners like HP, Lenovo and SuperMicro, among others, that are involved with the Intel On Demand program. It will still be possible to buy next gen Xeon CPUs that are fully feature enabled like today, but it's unclear if the Intel On Demand Xeon SKUs will offer some kind of cost benefits to companies that don't need the additional features that are behind the paywall.

Intel Confirm Alder Lake UEFI/BIOS Source Code Leak

Intel Alder Lake source code for BIOS/UEFI building and optimization has been leaked in a massive 6 GB leak that appeared on 4chan and GitHub. While this number may seem small, it is a colossal codebase, given that the regular code files take up small space. We assume that the documentation is bundled there as well, however, we can not check ourselves as the repository has been taken down. Tom's Hardware has contacted an Intel representative to talk about the code leak and the rep issued a statement for the website.
Intel SpokespersonOur proprietary UEFI code appears to have been leaked by a third party. We do not believe this exposes any new security vulnerabilities as we do not rely on obfuscation of information as a security measure. This code is covered under our bug bounty program within the Project Circuit Breaker campaign, and we encourage any researchers who may identify potential vulnerabilities to bring them our attention through this program. We are reaching out to both customers and the security research community to keep them informed of this situation.

Lenovo Legion Prebuilt with 4-slot RTX 4090 Leaked

Here's the first picture of a Lenovo Legion prebuilt gaming desktop with what is allegedly an OEM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 "Ada" graphics card designed by Lenovo. The card features a mammoth 4-slot air-based triple-fan cooling solution, and draws power from a single 12+4 pin ATX 12VHPWR connector that's capable of delivering up to 600 W of power with +100% excursions (spikes). The card is installed on a custom motherboard by Lenovo which is Socket LGA1700, and likely features a 12th- or 13th Gen Intel Core processor, cooled by a liquid AIO CLC. Take this leak with a grain of salt, though. The "90" in the masked out "GeForce RTX 4090" logo has a different typeface from the one we're seeing on leaked RTX 4090 retail boxes from the likes of ZOTAC and GIGABYTE.

Lenovo Unveils New Consumer IdeaPads and Tabs for 2023

Today's consumers need more out of their personal technology to thrive in the world of hybrid work and learning. While portability and mobility are key, the other side of this reality is that the hybrid worker and student are spending less time in offices and classrooms, and more time at home. This evolving consumer behavior has inspired Lenovo's new personal devices designed for the modern family, including Lenovo's first 16-inch Chromebook, the new Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Chromebook, and two new additions to its premium Lenovo Tab P11 tablet lineup: the Lenovo Tab P11 (2nd Gen) and the decked-out Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen).

The sudden switch to remote work and learning two years ago quickly increased people's reliance on technology, but it also ushered in a new and improved wave of remote everything - fitness, concerts, cinema, cooking, even dance parties. People learned to do everything they used to go out for, right in their own homes using their technology. Signs point to those behaviors persisting past the pandemic as consumers plan to spend more time on hobbies like home improvement and many expressing intentions of cooking at home more.

Experience the Future with the Next-generation 16-inch ThinkPad X1 Fold

Today, Lenovo announced the next-generation ThinkPad X1 Fold that redefines the foldable PC category that Lenovo created in 2020. The new ThinkPad X1 Fold is designed to offer full PC performance with a larger screen area, while maintaining the ultra-portability that the original ground-breaking device offered. As the world's lightest 16-inch commercial laptop device, this next generation delivers a versatile, powerful and portable device - with a sleeker and thinner design that can be comfortably used as a primary PC. Improving on a category-defining PC is not easy, but Lenovo's done just that. Through a combination of customer feedback and end user insights, the innovative design features a 22% larger 16-inch folding OLED display, 25% thinner chassis, and thinner bezels all around to produce a premium, streamlined look and feel that extends to the aluminium frame and a back cover made from 100% recycled woven performance fabric.

When building a next-gen device, there's the advantage of learning from a solid base of customer experience and a groundswell of user input. This insight has served Lenovo well in defining four primary areas where the experience must be flawless: performance, keyboard, display and design.

Peratech's Force-Enabled Keyboard Used in Latest Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 Gaming Notebooks

Peratech, a leading innovator in tactile-based user interfaces for high-performance electronics, has announced that its full-range, force-sensing technology will be in the latest Lenovo Legion 7i and 7 (16", 7) gaming laptops' W-A-S-D keys. Integrated into Lenovo Legion's high-performance premium gaming laptops, Peratech's Force Keyboard and Hydra user interface software deliver a more immersive, engaging gaming experience.

Unlike other gaming laptops that have added force function to the W, A, S, D keys, Peratech's full-analog response enables players to engage with games on a much more intuitive, physical level by extending the simple on/off switch of a standard key to unleash the full range of force in real-world interaction. Jim Thomas, Peratech CCO shared, "Imagine driving down your local highway and your accelerator is restricted to just 2 options, 'off' or 'full speed.' Reality-based physics calls for acceleration dependent on how hard you press on the gas pedal, or how hard you turn the steering wheel. This is the difference Peratech intelligent tactile sensing makes."

Lenovo Announces ThinkStation P360 Ultra Desktop Workstation

Today, Lenovo is introducing the ThinkStation P360 Ultra, which rounds out its portfolio of desktop workstations, to deliver unmatched performance in a never-before-seen form factor. Its chassis is less than 4L in total volume yet still boasts 12th Gen Intel Core processors and support for up to NVIDIA RTX A5000 mobile professional graphics so users can experience tower-like performance. Within this new form factor, the ThinkStation P360 Ultra outperforms previous generation small form factor desktop workstations by more than 50%.

Desktop workstations are known for their extreme levels of power and performance - built to run the most sophisticated CAD and BIM applications, deliver compute-intensive virtual and mixed reality experiences with ease, seamlessly render medical images or rich digital entertainment content, and accelerate time to insights through analysis of vast, massive datasets in real-time. However, a new era of hybrid work is here to stay and workstation professionals now need innovative and versatile technologies that can accommodate their ever-changing, and oftentimes smaller, workspaces without any compromise.

The already-launched Arc mobile GPUs are already being installed on gaming notebooks in production, but Intel blames COVID and the supply-chain crisis in East Asia for delays. Intel maintains a Summer 2022 launch timeline for desktop Arc graphics cards, and stated that the company will launch entry-level Arc 3-series discrete GPUs first, as OEM-exclusives in Q2-2022, followed by retail availability exclusively in China, with general worldwide availability expected "later this Summer."
