GELID at Computex 2023: New Stella and Silent Series Fans, TIMs, Company's First AIO Lineup

GELID at the 2023 Computex showcased its most recent product announcements. The lineup begins with the Stella Infinity, Stella Frost, and Zodiac case fans in the 120 mm form-factor. The Stella Infinity gets its name from an infinity mirror on its impeller hub. The fan features as many as 24 ARGB LEDs, lined not just along the bore of the frame, but also the hub of the impeller. It turns at speeds ranging between 500 to 1,600 RPM, pushing up to 70 CFM of airflow, at up to 35 dBA noise output. It uses hydro-dynamic bearings. The Stella Frost is essentially the same fan, but with a white frame, translucent impeller, and the outer ARGB diffuser being made of acrylic that mimics the appearance of ice. The Zodiac is a more cost-effective case fan that covers the essentials, including the hydro-dynamic bearing, one set of ARGB LEDs (at the impeller hub), high static pressure, 700 to 1600 RPM, pushing up to 65.5 CFM of airflow, 1.47 mm H₂O static pressure, and 35 dBA maximum noise.

We now move on to the Silent 12 PWM Black and Silent 14 PWM Black. These fans feature vibration-absorbing fan mounts, an impeller profile optimized for low noise, with fairly high performance. The Silent 14 PWM Black (140 mm) does 750 to 1,500 RPM, pushing up to 78.5 CFM of airflow, at a maximum noise output of just 20 dBA. The Silent 12 PWM Black (120 mm) does 750 to 1,600 RPM, pushing up to 64.5 CFM of airflow, at a maximum noise output of 25.5 dBA. There's a cheaper variant of these fans, the Silent 12 Black and Silent 14 Black, which use 3-pin DC power inputs. GELID showed off an assortment of products, including the GC-4 thermal compound, and its more powerful GC-Extreme TIM that offers 8.5 W/mK conductivity; the LGA1700 CPU Protection Brace, IceCap and IceCap Pro M.2 NVMe SSD coolers, Nexus Premium headset stand, and IceRock DDR memory heatspreaders. The star attraction was GELID's first foray into liquid cooling, with the Liquid 360, Liquid 240, and Liquid 120 all-in-one closed, loop CPU coolers. These feature Zodiac fans, a pump-block with an infinity mirror, and a 7-segment display that reads out coolant temperature.

Batch of Arctic Liquid Freezer II Coolers Have Design Flaw, Company Announces Free Service

Since its launch in 2019, the Liquid Freezer II series has won countless awards and become a popular product in the hardware community. Because ARCTIC is committed to serving this community with honesty and transparency, it is our duty to inform you of a potential issue. During ARCTIC's routine quality checks, we found a potential issue with certain Liquid Freezer II units. Which products are potentially affected? Affected products first went on sale in May 2021.

In certain units, the gaskets were not sufficiently vulcanized causing a chemical reaction to occur between the copper cold plate and the gasket. This reaction may lead to sulfur residue and copper plate deposits. If this has happened, it can lead to a reduction in cooling performance and potential loss of cooling liquid. The chemical reaction and degeneration of the gasket is a slow process and can occur within the 6-year warranty period. Thus, there is no reason to panic. We recommend that all affected coolers are serviced as soon as possible.

LIAN LI 2022 Digital Expo 2.0 Reveals Exciting New Prototypes and Updates

LIAN LI Industrial Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of aluminium chassis and PC accessories, premieres the LIAN LI 2022 DIGITAL EXPO 2.0 at 9 am EST on YouTube (here). AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT LC Edition GPU Goes on Sale in India, Costs Over 3000 USD

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Liquid Cooled (LC) edition is not officially available for the DIY market, as the card is exclusive to OEMs and system integrators, who can use the card in any of their selected systems, given the availability of course. In other words, the card is almost impossible to purchase on its own, unless it is from someone who removed it from a PC. However, it seems like a few retailers in India have been able to get their hands on a few of these cards and offer consumers to buy them individually without the need to purchase a whole system. Of course, you can expect this to come with a premium. Currently, retailers are offering the card at the price tag of around 223,020 rupees, which translates to 3,007 USD. We are not sure if any EU or American retailers will get their hands on just the card to compare prices.

ARCTIC Announces Liquid Freezer II 240 RGB and 240 A-RGB AIO CPU Coolers

Alphacool Introduces Four New Extremely Large Radiators

Alphacool introduces four new extremely large radiators. The first two radiators are for 180 or 200 mm fans and are a thickness of 86 mm. The 200 and 400 mm NexXxoS Monsta radiators offer a huge cooling surface. Both radiators have 7x standard G1/4" ports. 6 of the ports are for inlet/outlet and the 7th port is located at the end chamber and can only be used for filling, draining, or bleeding the radiator. The fin density has been reduced from 16 to 12 FPI to allow the use of lower static pressure fans and lower RPMs.

The new Nova 1080 UT60 radiator is a thicker version of the Nova 1080 XT45 radiator. The enormous cooling surface is comparable to three 360 mm UT60 radiators. This makes it easy to cool more than 1000 W of excess heat with extremely quiet to silent spinning fans. This is equivalent to a 64 core AMD Threadripper of the latest generation and at least two GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards.

Microsoft Tests New Liquid Cooling System for The Data Center

Microsoft employees are trialing a novel new immersive cooling system for their data center servers involving boiling liquid. Microsoft has looked to this two-phase closed-loop system as a solution to increasing power requirements from components. The cooling system features large vats where servers are submerged in a specially designed fluid from 3M which is harmless to electronics and boils at just 50°C (122°F). The heat from the servers is transferred to the fluid which boils and carries the heat away without any risk of overheating. The vats each contain a condenser that comes in contact with the gas cooling it down into a liquid and falling back into the loop. Microsoft claims that this new cooling approach will improve efficiency and sustainability through increased utilization of resources.
