MSI Intros Radeon RX 580 Armor MK2 Graphics Card

MSI today introduced its Radeon RX 580 Armor MK2 graphics card series, available in standard and OC variants. Both feature 8 GB of GDDR5 memory. The two cards feature the same Armor MK2 product design that the company debuted with the RX 570 Armor MK2 series, earlier this month. The standard variant offers out of the box clock speeds of 1353 MHz core, which is slightly higher than AMD-reference clocks of 1340 MHz. The OC variant tops that with 1366 MHz out of the box. Both variants leave the memory untouched at 8.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective).

The Armor MK2 series is positioned a notch above the original Arsenal-series Armor SKU, in featuring a pair of updated TorX 2.0 fans, red-colored accents in place of white on the cooler shroud, and the addition of a metal back-plate with red accents. It hence sits in between the Armor and Gaming series. TorX 2.0 fans feature double ball-bearings, and an improved fan blade design for higher air-flow, allowing MSI to lower the fan speeds, and with it, noise. The fans stay off when the GPU is idling. The PCB design is unchanged between the Armor MK2 and the original RX 580 Armor series. The company didn't reveal pricing.

MSI Announces Immerse GH60 GAMING Headset and Vigor GK40 Combo

MSI, leader in true gaming hardware, today announces the Immerse GH60 GAMING Headset, Vigor GK40 GAMING Keyboard and Vigor GK40 Combo to provide more choices for mainstream gamers who are looking for powerful weapons to conquer the battlefield.

Immerse GH60 GAMING Headset

Whether you're trying to hear the enemy's slightest movements or just looking to enjoy your favorite music in all its glory. The 3.5mm headphone jack doesn't only bring the convenience in PC games but also in mobile devices to communicate with friends. With ergonomic design, GH60's flexible headband and soft ear pads ensure a comfortable fit that distributes the weight of the headset evenly, while still fully enclosing the ears to isolate distracting noises. Two sets of ear pads are included to provide a choice between smooth leather or soft cloth, or to simply allow gamers to switch to a fresh pair.

MSI Intros the OPTIX MPG27CQ Monitor: 27", WQHD, 144 Hz, 1800R, VA Panel

MSI has added another monitor to its OPTIX lineup, in the form of the OPTIX MPG27CQ monitor. This one sports a VA-type 27" panel, which delivers its images in a crisp, WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. The usage of a VA panel means this monitor is able to deliver up to 144 Hz refresh rates with a 1 ms response time and 178/178 viewing angles, while sRGB and NTSC coverage stand at 115% and 100%, respectively.

Another thing to note is the monitor's rated brightness: at 400 cd/m², it isn't the best we've seen, but at least it holds its maximum brightness honorably, without adding any HDR-capable gimmicks, even though it's much more capable of that than some other monitors that have been recently announced. One of the more interesting thinks about this monitor, however, is the inclusion of SteelSeries' Game Sense technology, which should allow the bottom bezel led strips to react to your gaming conditions, such as ammo count, health, and other factors. Additionally for gamers, there's support for Adaptive Sync tech to smooth out the frame-rate and avoid tearing.

MSI Radeon RX 570 Armor MK2 Graphics Card Pictured

MSI is apparently working on a revised version of its dual-fan Armor design for AMD's cards, dropping the white and black color scheme and opting for a more AMD-basic black and red one. The new versions, tentatively dubbed the Armor MK2 graphics cards, are expected to trickle through MSI's AMD graphics card lineup slowly, starting with the RX 570 and RX 560 graphics cards in their OC versions. The new color scheme, even if used to exhaustion already, does a little more than the previous Armor iteration in conveying the image of an AMD graphics card (black and red, anyone?), and the Armor MK2 models should feature an additional color and design upgrade to the existing backplate.

MSI Intros Radeon RX Vega 64 Air Boost Graphics Card

MSI today rolled out its first quasi-custom design Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics card, the MSI RX Vega 64 Air Boost. This card combines an AMD reference-design (or at least close-to-reference) PCB, with a custom-design lateral-flow cooling solution by MSI. The lateral blower features a large base plate with a copper core; the base plate draws heat from the VRM, the copper core from the "Vega 10" MCM. The card ships with slightly overclocked speeds of 1272 MHz core, and 1575 MHz boost. Drawing power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the card puts out three DisplayPort 1.4 connectors, and an HDMI 2.0 port. The company didn't reveal pricing.

MSI Z170A Xpower Titanium Modded, Supports Intel Core i3-8350K

The seemingly impossible (as per Intel) has happened: an Intel Z170 motherboard was made to support Intel's latest Core i3-8350K. This news comes after various reports and counter reports went for and against this being actually viable, according to motherboard socket pin count and function allocation. That this happened not on a Z270 motherboard, but on a Z170, really does serve to open our eyes as customers to what sort of games might be being played by tech companies in product refreshes and new motherboard chipsets.

MSI Intros Optix MAG24C Curved Gaming Monitor

MSI today introduced the Optix MAG24C, a 24-inch curved gaming-grade monitor, which could be the company's most affordable. Its Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution may not be much to write home about in 2017, but bolstering it gaming-grade credentials are its 144 Hz refresh-rate, and 1 ms (GTG) response-time, and support for AMD FreeSync technology. It also features OSD crosshairs, FPS counters, and display presets specific to game genres.

The Optix MAG24C is based on a VA (vertical-alignment) display panel, with 1800R curvature, 178°/178° viewing-angles, 110% sRGB coverage, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 3,000:1 static contrast-ratio (with dynamic mega-contrast). Graphics Cards Vendors Increase Orders in Wake of Expected Mining Sales Increase

DigiTimes is reporting that graphics cards vendors and AIB (add-in board partners) to both AMD and NVIDIA are increasing their orders for GPUs. Citing sources from the upstream supply chain, the report says that the reason for this is an expected increase in sales due to higher demand for cryptocurrency mining workloads. Most cryptocurrencies are mined on GPUs today, and there are miners that leverage both AMD and NVIDIA's architectures for increased mining performance. Whereas before mining was somewhat of a strictly AMD business, NVIDIA's architectures have also been developed for in most recent cryptocurrency mining efforts, which means that no one manufacturer is the sole source of mining GPUs.

As such, and counting on continued economic support for current cryptocurrency pricing (or even increase), Asustek, Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI), TUL, Colorful and Galaxy Microsystems have increased their orders from respective manufacturing partners. Since graphics cards pricing has stabilized and even decreased somewhat in recent weeks from their selling points just some months ago, this might mean that we'll finally see some graphics card models from both AMD and NVIDIA finally being retailed for their MSRP again. However, demand for mining-efficient GPUs is expected to increase alongside cryptocurrency value, so don't take this increased supply for granted - demand could spike at any moment, and with little warning.
