Official: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series Laptop Pre-orders Start on February 25

Earlier today, NVIDIA happily declared that: "GeForce RTX 50-series laptop pre-orders start February 25 from OEMs." A March launch window was mentioned during the company's official unveiling of its "Blackwell" GPU architecture at CES 2025. Mobile variants of the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti are expected to ship with laptops next month. GeForce RTX 5070 Mobile-equipped devices are due in April. As reported by VideoCardz, a Finnish retailer's webstore has confirmed the February 25 pre-order start date. The Gigantti.fi site lists several new ASUS ROG Zephyrus and Strix laptops; configured with the latest Intel Core Ultra 200HX or AMD "Strix Point/Fire Range" mobile APUs, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series discrete graphics solutions. The most expensive option is listed with a €5499 price point—interested buyers are looking at a spec that includes a 16-inch OLED screen, Core Ultra 9-285H processor, 32 GB LPDDR5X RAM, 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD, and a GeForce RTX 5090 32 GB mobile GPU. At the time of writing, Gigantti's "cheapest" option is a €2999 ROG Strix 16 model; sporting a Ryzen 9 9955HX APU and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 12 GB Mobile GPU.

NVIDIA disclosed official MSRPs during last month's CES presentation: $2199 for RTX 5090, $2199 for RTX 5080, $1599 for RTX 5070 Ti, and $1299 for the RTX 5070. Western press outlets have scouted North American online retail outlets. Tom's Hardware observed (ASUS and HP) price ranges starting at $1800. The most expensive offering came in at $4200; an ultra high-end ROG Strix Scar 18 laptop featuring a GeForce RTX 5090 Mobile GPU and an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU. Team Green's upcoming launch partners include Acer, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Mechrevo, MSI and Razer. NVIDIA seems to have extra GeForce RTX 50-series announcements in the pipeline—they recommend that potential buyers: "stay tuned for more details!"

AMD Plans Aggressive Price Competition with Radeon RX 9000 Series

According to ITHome, AMD is preparing to disrupt its competition with aggressive pricing for its upcoming RX 9000 series. The RX 9070 XT, built on the RDNA 4 architecture, is expected to launch at $599, positioning it directly against NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti, which carries a $749 price tag. With this competitive pricing, AMD aims to revitalize its market position following lower-than-expected sales of the RX 7000 series, causing it to lose some market share. The upcoming RX 9070 XT features the Navi 48 core running at 2.97 GHz, complemented by 16 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit bus. Architecture's enhanced AI upscaling capabilities, already demonstrated in the PlayStation 5 Pro, could offer compelling performance advantages over current-generation cards. The base RX 9070 model is anticipated to debut at $499, creating a focused attack on multiple market segments, including NVIDIA's RTX 5070, priced at $549.

AMD reportedly plans to accelerate the end-of-life timeline for its RX 7800 XT, currently priced at $479. Sources from IT Home suggest production ceased as early as January, months ahead of the planned initial third-quarter 2025 termination. This accelerated timeline suggests AMD's confidence in the RX 9000 series' ability to deliver superior price-to-performance metrics. The March 2025 launch window for the RX 9000 series arrives at a critical point in the GPU market, as NVIDIA rolls out its Blackwell-based RTX 50 series. AMD's aggressive pricing strategy and the architectural improvements in RDNA 4 positions the company to challenge NVIDIA's market dominance, at least in the $500-$600 price range. This competitive positioning could trigger NVIDIA price adjustments, potentially benefiting consumers who have faced consistently high GPU prices in recent years.

February 20 Launch Date of GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Confirmed by MSI

MSI France posted a countdown timer on its regional website for the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which winds down to February 20, 2025, 3 PM CET. This is our first confirmation that NVIDIA's third graphics card from the RTX 50-series "Blackwell" will be launching next week. MSI already has product pages of its custom design RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 graphics cards up on its website. The RTX 5070 Ti lineup will be topped by the RTX 5070 Ti Vanguard series, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Trio series. There's also the RTX 5070 Ti Inspire 3X series targeting creators. There are two "entry level" SKUs, the RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X, which the company will price close to the NVIDIA baseline, and the RTX 5070 Ti Shadow 3X, which meets NVIDIA SFF-Ready requirements.

MSI Website Lists New SHADOW 3X GeForce RTX 5080 & 5070 Ti Models

MSI has, quite appropriately, introduced new SHADOW 3X graphics card models in a low-key manner. These stealth-black GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti custom designs have just appeared online via official product pages. We expect to see press material published in the near future, perhaps closer to the launch of NVIDIA's next wave of Blackwell GPUs. MSI's newly discovered product pages place emphasis on the SHADOW 3X's essential features: "a performance-focused design that delivers the gaming experience players want, making it the ideal choice when upgrading or building a gaming rig." VideoCardz believes that the incoming SHADOW 3X cards will be the first to reach Western markets—previous-gen models have released as Chinese regional exclusives. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G SHADOW 3X overclocked (OC) and non-OC SKUs appear to re-use MSI's familiar VENTUS 3X design, just tinted many shades darker.

The new SHADOW 3X cards seem to utilize a fresh design, with no recycling from a similarly appointed sibling product family. MSI's latest barebones/essential tier brings a minimal set of perks: a sizable heatsink, a triple-fan cooling solution, a single 16-pin power connector and a straightforward shroud and backplate aesthetic. SHADOW 3X eschews anything RGB lighting-related. Potential buyers will not be dealing with fancy vapor chambers or liquid cooling systems. MSI will be offering overclocked editions, as well as standard models that conform to NVIDIA reference specifications. TechPowerUp's well-maintained GPU database will be updated with these new additions.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti & 5070 GPUs Added to Vulkan 1.4 Support List

Khronos introduced version 1.4 of its Vulkan graphics API last December—at the time, industry watchdogs believed that this iteration was prepared with NVIDIA "Blackwell" GPU conformance in mind. A mid-January leak indicated that the GeForce RTX 5090 SKU was already present on the Vulkan API's support list. Recent official additions—of GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 GPUs to the cross-platform API's compatibility registry—suggest an imminent launch at retail; insiders reckon that the 5070 Ti will arrive on February 20.

Last week, HWiNFO's development team revealed that they were readying an incoming build (8.21) with support for Team Green's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU. Their "upcoming changes" list did not include the lower-specced GeForce RTX 5070 (non-Ti)—online speculation posits that this model will launch later on in February. The GeForce RTX 5070's inclusion on the latest Vulkan API conformance list is an encouraging sign. VideoCardz spent its weekend searching for any entries alluding to GeForce RTX 5060 Ti or GeForce RTX 5060 (non-Ti) SKUs—they discovered zero evidence. The developers at Khronos are likely keeping these lower-end models under a "confidential" category.

Future HWiNFO Update Will Add Support for GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPUs

The HWiNFO development team are prepping for the upcoming release of an NVIDIA upper mid-range "Blackwell" GPU—their popular system diagnostics tool will be updated with support for GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (GB203-based) graphics card models. Team Green flagship and sub-flagship SKUs were sent to market this week—with mixed results—industry experts believe that stock shortages will be in effect for many months post-release. Volatile retail conditions could force potential buyers—of next-gen graphics technology—into considering options from lower down in NVIDIA's new product stack. The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti ($749 MSRP, with no Founders Edition) and GeForce RTX 5070 ($549 MSRP) GPUs could be tempting alternatives—as stopgaps or permanent fixtures. Press outlets believe that a February 20 product launch is pencilled in.

HWiNFO's incoming 8.21 build is being readied with support for GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards, but the GeForce RTX 5070 (non-Ti) GPU is notably absent from the suite's "upcoming changes" list. An investigative VideoCardz news piece points to HWiNFO being the first bit of software to publicly acknowledge (in advance) support for Team Green's 8,960 CUDA core-equipped model. As reported earlier this week, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is based on NVIDIA's GB203 GPU—also present on a larger sibling: "RTX 5080 maxes the silicon out, enabling all 84 SM, the RTX 5070 Ti is slightly cut down, with 70 out of 84 SM being enabled, resulting in 8,960 CUDA cores, 280 Tensor cores, 70 RT cores, 280 TMUs, and an unknown number of ROPs. The memory size is 16 GB, across the chip's full 256-bit GDDR7 memory interface... Its TGP is down to 300 W compared to the 360 W of the RTX 5080."

AMD Radeon 9070 XT Rumored to Outpace RTX 5070 Ti by Almost 15%

It would be fair to say that the GeForce RTX 5080 has been quite disappointing, being roughly 16% faster in gaming than the RTX 4080 Super. Unsurprisingly, this gives AMD a lot of opportunity to offer excellent price-to-performance with its upcoming RDNA 4 GPUs, considering that the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti aren't really expected to pull off any miracles. According to a recent tidbit shared by the renowned leaker Moore's Law is Dead, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is expected to be around 3% faster than the RTX 4080, if AMD's internal performance goals are anything to go by. MLID also notes that RDNA 4's performance is improving by roughly around 1% each month, which makes it quite likely that the RDNA 4 cards will exceed the targets.

If it does turn out that way, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, according to MLID, should be roughly around 15% faster than its competitor from the Green Camp, the RTX 5070 Ti, and roughly match the RTX 4080 Super in gaming performance. The Radeon RX 9070, on the other hand, is expected to be around 12% faster than the RTX 5070. Of course, these performance improvements are limited to rasterization performance, and when ray tracing is brought to the scene, the performance improvements are expected to be substantially more modest, as per tradition. Citing our data for Cyberpunk 4K with RT, MLID stated that his sources indicate that the RX 9070 XT falls somewhere between the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 3090 Ti, whereas the RX 9070 should likely trade blows with the RTX 4070 Super. Considering AMD's track record with ray tracing, this sure does sound quite enticing.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Launches on February 20

NVIDIA's third graphics card from the RTX 50-series "Blackwell" generation, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, reportedly launches on February 20, 2025, according to a VideoCardz report. Reviews of RTX 5070 Ti priced at the NVIDIA MSRP of USD $749 should go live on February 19, with reviews of cards priced above MSRP following on February 20. All cards go on sale from February 20.

The RTX 5070 Ti is based on the same 5 nm "GB203" silicon as the RTX 5080 that launches later this week, but while the RTX 5080 maxes the silicon out, enabling all 84 SM, the RTX 5070 Ti is slightly cut down, with 70 out of 84 SM being enabled, resulting in 8,960 CUDA cores, 280 Tensor cores, 70 RT cores, 280 TMUs, and an unknown number of ROPs. The memory size is 16 GB, across the chip's full 256-bit GDDR7 memory interface, although NVIDIA didn't confirm memory speeds. Its TGP is down to 300 W compared to the 360 W of the RTX 5080.

MSI introduced its groundbreaking NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics card range earlier today—hot on the heels of NVIDIA's formal unveiling of its brand-new Blackwell architecture. TechPowerUp staffers on the ground at this year's CES managed to wade through MSI's enviable collection of custom cards showcased on the showroom floor—taking up-close photos and discussing the latest designs with company representatives. An entry-level family has debuted—in the form of INSPIRE—alongside a new high-end series dubbed "VANGUARD." In addition, TPU was treated to the usual suspects including top-of-the-range SUPRIM cards. MSI has also tinkered with its design aesthetic for the VENTUS GAMING product line.

We will start with the upper echelon—MSI's new GeForce RTX 5090 32G SUPRIM LIQUID SOC model. Well-heeled gaming enthusiasts will likely be handing over a hefty premium for this well appointed dual-slot card. Its stealthy "diamond-cut inspired" premium shroud houses a micro-fin copper base and MSI's patented water block array—ensuring that the GPU and VRAM are kept cool during the most demanding of gaming or professional sessions. The 360 mm aluminium radiator is coupled with the latest STORMFORCE fans in a triple unit configuration. It should be noted that the Ada Lovelace generation MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID model sported a dual-fan radiator setup. MSI reps did not divulge any details regarding extreme overclocking and boost figures for this top-tier Blackwell model, but we suspect that the extra fan will be doings its best to temper Team Green's "massive" GB202 die.

NVIDIA RTX 5000 Blackwell Memory Amounts Confirmed by Pre-Built PC Maker

By now, it's a surprise to almost nobody that NVIDIA plans to launch its next-generation RTX 5000-series "Blackwell" gaming graphics cards at the upcoming CES 2025 event in Las Vegas in early January. Previously, leaks and rumors gave us a full run-down of expected VRAM amounts and other specifications and features for the new GPUs, but these have yet to be confirmed by NVIDIA—for obvious reasons. Now, though, it looks as though iBuyPower has jumped the gun and prematurely revealed the new specifications for its updated line-up of pre-built gaming PCs with RTX 5000-series GPUs ahead of NVIDIA's official announcement. The offending product pages have since been removed, but they both give us confirmation of the previously leaked VRAM amounts and of the expected release cadence for RTX 5000, which will reportedly see the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 launch before the RTX 5090 flagship.

On iBuyPower's now-pulled pages, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB can be seen as the GPUs powering two different upcoming Y40 pre-built gaming PCs from the system integrator. The VRAM specifications here coincide with what we have previously seen from other leaked sources. Unfortunately, while an archived version of the page for the pre-built containing the RTX 5080 appears to show the design for an ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5080 with a triple-fan cooler, it looks like iBuyPower is using the same renders for both the 5080 and 5070Ti versions of the pre-built PCs. What's also interesting is that iBuyPower looks to be pairing the next-gen GPUs with 7000-series AMD X3D CPUs, as opposed to the newly released AMD Ryzen 9000 X3D chips that have started making their way out into the market.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti Final Specifications Seemingly Confirmed

Thanks to kopite7kimi, we are able to finalize the leaked specifications of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards.
Starting off with RTX 5070 Ti, it will feature 8,960 CUDA cores and come equipped with 16 GB GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit memory bus, offering 896 GB/s bandwidth. The card is reportedly designed with a total board power (TBP) of 300 W. The Ti variant appears to use the PG147-SKU60 board design with a GB203-300-A1 GPU. The standard RTX 5070 is positioned as a more power-efficient option, with specifications pointing to 6,144 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR7 memory on a 192-bit bus, with 627 GB/s memory bandwidth. This model is expected to operate at a slightly lower 250 W TBP.

Interestingly, the non-Ti RTX 5070 card will be available in two board variants, PG146 and PG147, both utilizing the GB205-300-A1 GPU. While we don't know what the pricing structure looks like, we see that NVIDIA has chosen to make more considerable differentiating factors between its SKUs. The Ti variant not only gets an extra four GB of GDDR7 memory, but it also gets a whopping 45% increase in CUDA core count, going from 6,144 to 8,960 cores. While we wait for the CES to see the initial wave of GeForce RTX 50 series cards, the GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti are expected to arrive later, possibly after RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs.

ASUS Teases Next-generation RTX 50-powered Gaming Laptops For CES 2025

Last week, we reported on a massive leak that gave us a glimpse at a surfeit of upcoming ROG gaming laptops from ASUS boasting Arrow Lake-HX and Strix Halo processors, along with RTX 50-series Laptop GPUs. The company has now gone ahead and officially teased its ROG Flow Z13 laptop and the ROG Strix 18 laptop, the videos for which were obtained by VideoCardz. Considering that these were just teasers, the details shared were sparse, but undoubtedly intriguing regardless.

The ROG Strix 18, will likely boast the Core Ultra 9 285HX and Core Ultra 9 275HX CPUs along with NVIDIA "Blackwell" Laptop GPUs, with up to an 175-watt RTX 5090 Laptop with 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. Multiple other GPU options will also be available, with the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU being the entry-point as per the leaked listings. Clearly, the Strix 18 is poised to be a powerful and power-hungry desktop replacement-class laptop, along with a massive 18-inch mini LED screen with a speedy 240 Hz refresh rate. Needless to say, the G18 has no intention of being affordable.

RTX 5090, RTX 5080 Laptop GPUs Leak Alongside ASUS ROG Gaming Laptops

It is barely a surprise that the desktop RTX 50X0-series cards will be accompanied by laptop variants soon after their launch. And as such, multiple listings of upcoming gaming laptops have appeared on the internet. The information is rather intriguing, to say the least. The leaked listings indicate that both AMD and Intel will have products ready to join forces with Blackwell, with Intel's Arrow Lake-HX and, rather shockingly, Ryzen 7000HX-series from Team Red - much to the chagrin of those expecting Ryzen 9000HX to drop sooner. The listings also reveal some other specifications, such as the display, but there is nothing notable there - it's the typical spread of mini LED and OLED panels.

Among the leaked laptops, we have the ROG Strix Scar 18, which will pack up to a Core Ultra 9 285HX "Arrow Lake-HX" CPU, along with either an RTX 5080, or an RTX 5090 GPU. Disappointingly, it appears that the RTX 5090 will be limited to only 16 GB of VRAM, which is half that of its desktop counterpart. The RTX 5080 will also be available with 16 GB of VRAM, which certainly makes us sigh in relief. A lower-tier laptop, namely the Strix 16, has also been leaked, packing either an RTX 5070 Ti, or an RTX 5060 GPU with 12 GB and 8 GB of VRAM respectively. The laptops further down will also have the entry-level RTX 5050, with 8 GB of VRAM as well. Of course, all of this is on the new GDDR7 spec. The full-resolution image of the leaked listings can be found here.

NVIDIA Blackwell RTX and AI Features Leaked by Inno3D

NVIDIA's RTX 5000 series GPU hardware has been leaked repeatedly in the weeks and months leading up to CES 2025, with previous leaks tipping significant updates for the RTX 5070 Ti in the VRAM department. Now, Inno3D is apparently hinting that the RTX 5000 series will also introduce updated machine learning and AI tools to NVIDIA's GPU line-up. An official CES 2025 teaser published by Inno3D, titled "Inno3D At CES 2025, See You In Las Vegas!" makes mention of potential updates to NVIDIA's AI acceleration suite for both gaming and productivity.

The Inno3D teaser specifically points out "Advanced DLSS Technology," "Enhanced Ray Tracing" with new RT cores, "better integration of AI in gaming and content creation," "AI-Enhanced Power Efficiency," AI-powered upscaling tech for content creators, and optimizations for generative AI tasks. All of this sounds like it builds off of previous NVIDIA technology, like RTX Video Super Resolution, although the mention of content creation suggests that it will be more capable than previous efforts, which were seemingly mostly consumer-focussed. Of course, improved RT cores in the new RTX 5000 GPUs is also expected, although it will seemingly be the first time NVIDIA will use AI to enhance power draw, suggesting that the CES announcement will come with new features for the NVIDIA App. The real standout feature, though, are called "Neural Rendering" and "Advanced DLSS," both of which are new nomenclatures. Of course, Advanced DLSS may simply be Inno3D marketing copy, but Neural Rendering suggests that NVIDIA will "Revolutionize how graphics are processed and displayed," which is about as vague as one could be.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Leak Tips More VRAM, Cores, and Power Draw

It's an open secret by now that NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5000 series GPUs are on the way, with an early 2025 launch on the cards. Now, preliminary details about the RTX 5070 Ti have leaked, revealing an increase in both VRAM and TDP and suggesting that the new upper mid-range GPU will finally address the increased VRAM demand from modern games. According to the leak from Wccftech, the RTX 5070 Ti will have 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, up from 12 GB on the RTX 4070 Ti, as we previously speculated. Also confirming previous leaks, the new sources confirm that the 5070 Ti will use the cut-down GB203 chip, although the new leak points to a significantly higher TBP of 350 W. The new memory configuration will supposedly run on a 256-bit memory bus and run at 28 Gbps for a total memory bandwidth of 896 GB/s, which is a significant boost over the RTX 4070 Ti.

Supposedly, the RTX 5070 Ti will also see a bump in total CUDA cores, from 7680 in the RTX 4070 Ti to 8960 in the RTX 5070 Ti. The new RTX 5070 Ti will also switch to the 12V-2x6 power connector, compared to the 16-pin connector from the 4070 Ti. NVIDIA is expected to announce the RTX 5000 series graphics cards at CES 2025 in early January, but the RTX 5070 Ti will supposedly be the third card in the 5000-series launch cycle. That said, leaks suggest that the 5070 Ti will still launch in Q1 2025, meaning we may see an indication of specs at CES 2025, although pricing is still unclear.

Update Dec 16th: Kopite7kimi, ubiquitous hardware leaker, has since responded to the RTX 5070 Ti leaks, stating that 350 W may be on the higher end for the RTX 5070 Ti: "...the latest data shows 285W. However, 350W is also one of the configs." This could mean that a TBP of 350 W is possible, although maybe only on certain graphics card models, if competition is strong, or in certain boost scenarios.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Specs Leak: Same Die as RTX 5080, 300 W TDP

Recent leaks have unveiled specifications for NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, suggesting an increase in power consumption. According to industry leaker Kopite7kimi, the RTX 5070 Ti will feature 8,960 CUDA cores and operate at a 300 W TDP. In a departure from previous generations, the RTX 5070 Ti will reportedly share the same GB203 die with its higher-tier sibling, the RTX 5080. This architectural decision differs from the RTX 40-series lineup, where the 4070 Ti and 4080 utilized different dies (AD104 and AD103, respectively). This shared die approach could potentially keep NVIDIA's manufacturing costs lower. Performance-wise, the RTX 5070 Ti shows promising improvements over its predecessor. The leaked specifications indicate a 16% increase in CUDA cores compared to the RTX 4070 Ti, though this advantage shrinks to 6% when measured against the RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Power consumption sees a modest 5% increase to 300 W, suggesting improved efficiency despite the enhanced capabilities. Memory configurations remain unconfirmed, but speculations about the card indicate that it could feature 16 GB of memory on a 256-bit interface, distinguishing it from the RTX 5080's rumored 24 GB configuration. The positioning across the 50-series GPU stack of this RTX 5070 Ti appears carefully calculated, with its 8,960 CUDA cores sitting approximately 20% below the RTX 5080's 10,752 cores. This larger performance gap between tiers contrasts with the previous generation's approach, potentially indicating a more defined product hierarchy in the Blackwell lineup. NVIDIA is expected to unveil its Blackwell gaming graphics cards at CES 2025, with the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 series leading the announcement.
