Kingston Digital Introduces SDHC/SDXC UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) Memory Cards

Toshiba Introduces 32 GB FlashAir SDHC Memory Card

Toshiba Corporation today announced the expansion of its line-up of "FlashAir", the SDHC memory card with embedded wireless LAN communications, with the launch of the latest 32 GB card. The new card will go on sale on November 16th in the Japanese market, and sales in markets around the world will follow.

"FlashAir" is an SDHC memory card that incorporates a wireless LAN chip set plus an antenna for wireless communications. The card supports wireless sharing and transfers of photos from digital cameras to smartphones and tablets.

New SDXC And SDHC Memory Cards Support 4K2K Video

The SD Association today announced a new high-performance option and symbol specifically designed to support a wide array of 4K2K television and video products. A new Ultra High Speed (UHS) Speed Class 3 (U3) symbol will indicate products capable of recording 4K2K video and will operate exclusively on SDXC UHS-I and UHS-II memory cards and devices and SDHC UHS-I and UHS-II memory cards and devices.

The UHS Speed Class 3 defines a sizzling fast 30 Megabytes per second constant minimum write speed to ensure high-quality video recordings. Toshiba to Showcase SDHC Memory Card with TransferJet Wireless Transfer Technology

Toshiba Corporation will showcase a reference display of an SDHC memory card with TransferJet close proximity wireless transfer technology at the 2013 International CES, to be held from January 8 to 11, 2013, in Las Vegas, U.S.A.

The SDHC memory card on reference display will be a product under development, integrating a TransferJet transceiver IC, a coupler, an RF filter, peripheral passive parts, an SD bridge connection circuit, and Toshiba's NAND flash memory.

Japanese peripherals maker RatocSystems announced a new wireless multi-format card reader built on a similar principle to wireless hard-drives, where the drive is tossed out, to make room for the reader. The REX-WIFISD1 from Ratoc features an SDIO slot that supports micro/mini/standard SD/SDHC/SDXC cards, and a USB 2.0 port, to which any mass-storage device can be plugged in. Contents of the two are then made accessible wirelessly over 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, as network shares. The card reader packs in its own power source, a rechargeable 3,000 mAh battery, which can keep it connected for approximately 9 hours on a full charge. I-O Data Japan introduced a thoughtful new device for road-warriors, called NUBES, an SDHC/SDXC card reader that is completely wireless. Toshiba America Introduces the FlashAir SD Memory Card

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the wireless LAN embedded SD memory card "FlashAir." The FlashAir is a standard SDHC (High Capacity) card that incorporates a wireless LAN1 chip set plus antenna for wireless communications. For a limited time, Olympus will offer the FlashAir for free through a mail-in rebate when purchasing select Olympus Cameras. Rebate forms can be downloaded at www.getolympus.com/olympusimageshare.

Foxconn AT-5570 Mini-PC Detailed

Foxconn Channel brand unveiled the AT-5570, a new mini PC based on the AMD "Brazos" 2.0 platform. Measuring 19 cm x 13.5 cm x 3.8 cm, and weighing 600 g, this VESA-mountable PC is driven by AMD C-70 APU with Radeon HD 7290 graphics. Connectivity options on the AT-5570 include two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0/1.1 ports; SD/SDHC/MS/MS Pro/MMC card reader, stereo HD audio, 802.11 b/g/n WLAN, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, and D-Sub (VGA). The AT-5570 from Foxconn is expected to be launched later this month.
