PMC Unveils the Flashtec NVRAM Drives

PMC, the semiconductor and software solutions innovator transforming networks that connect, move and store big data, today established a new ultra-fast storage class memory tier to accelerate critical applications in scale-out storage and all-flash arrays. Marvell Introduces the 88SS1093 PCIe 3.0 NVM Express SSD Controller

Marvell today announced the introduction of its first native Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) solid-state drive (SSD) controller, the 88SS1093. The Marvell 88SS1093 NVMe SSD controller delivers high-performance solid-state storage solutions with a fully Flash-optimized architecture overcoming the SAS/SATA performance limitations by optimizing hardware and software to take full advantage on NAND and addressing the needs of data centers and client systems that utilize next-generation PCIe 3.0 SSD storage. Toshiba to Showcase Latest NAND and Storage Products at Flash Memory Summit

Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it will showcase its latest NAND flash and storage products at Flash Memory Summit, the world's largest flash memory conference, which will be held from August 5 to 7 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California, USA. The exhibition part of Flash Memory Summit will be held in the latter two days, August 6 and 7, and Toshiba will be exhibiting at booth #504.

Unannounced OCZ ARC 100 SATA Solid State Drives Listed Online

As revealed by several store listings Toshiba-owned OCZ Storage Solutions is just about ready to release a new consumer-oriented solid state drive, the ARC 100. Coming in 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities, this SSD features a 2.5-inch form factor (7 mm height), a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, a Barefoot 3 M10 controller, and Toshiba-made 19 nm MLC NAND Flash memory chips.

The ARC 100 drivers are capable of sequential read speeds of 490 MB/s and reach 430 MB/s (400 MB/s for the 120 GB model) while writing. The 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB can be found priced at $74.99, $119.99 and $239.99, respectively, but they are out of stock.

AMD Readies Radeon R7 Branded Client SSDs

AMD's Radeon brand is turning out to be its only hope in capturing high-end gaming PC sales. The brand now covers AMD's high-performance GPUs, system memory modules, and now, client SSDs. The company is giving final touches to three client SSD models in the 2.5-inch SATA form-factor, bearing the Radeon R7 brand, featuring capacities of 120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB.

All three feature SATA 6 Gb/s interface, and offer sequential read speeds as high as 550 MB/s, sequential writes of up to 470 MB/s on the 120 GB variant; and up to 530 MB/s on both the 240 GB and 480 GB ones. The three offer 4K random access throughput of up to 85,000 IOPS, 95,000 IOPS, and 100,000 IOPS, respectively; with 4K QD32 steady-state throughput of 12,000 IOPS, 20,000 IOPS, and 23,000 IOPS, respectively. The three are based on OCZ's Indilinx Barefoot 3 processor, driving Toshiba-made 19 nm MLC NAND flash chips. The three will be formally launched on the 13th of August, 2014.

Silicon Motion Introduces SM2256 SSD Controller with Support for TLC NAND

SMART Modular Announces DDR4 NVDIMMs with SafeStor Technology

HGST Research Demonstrates World's Fastest SSD at Flash Memory Summit

Enterprise storage leader HGST, a Western Digital company, today is previewing a new architecture for solid-state drives (SSDs) that enables applications to provide faster insights to the data-intensive questions of tomorrow. The demonstration shows unprecedented SSD performance levels that are achieved by utilizing a combination of HGST's new, latency-optimized interface protocols with next-generation non-volatile memory components.

The SSD demonstration utilizes a PCIe interface and delivers three million random read IOs per second of 512 bytes each when operating in a queued environment and a random read access latency of 1.5 microseconds (us) in non-queued settings, delivering results that cannot be achieved with existing SSD architectures and NAND Flash memories. This performance is orders of magnitude faster than existing Flash based SSDs, resulting in a new class of block storage devices.

Lite-On Showcases Enterprise Storage Solutions at Flash Memory Summit 2014

MSI Rolls Out the WT Series Mobile Workstations

MSI rolled out its third mobile workstation after the GT series and WS series, the WT series. Styled much like MSI's Gaming series notebooks, the WT series comes in four models, the WT70-20K, the WT70-20L, the WT60-20K 3K IPS, and the WT60-20J. The WT70 duo feature 17.3-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) displays, while the WT60 ones feature 15.6-inch displays. A stand-out here is the WT60-20K 3K IPS, which features a 15.6-inch 3K (2880 x 1620 pixels) IPS display. The WT60-20J, on the other hand, features full-HD.
