Scythe Also Unveils the Mugen MAX CPU Cooler

Scythe made an addition to its iconic Mugen line of tower-type CPU coolers, with the Mugen MAX (model: SCMGD-1000). The new cooler is bigger, and relies on 140 mm fans to ventilate. The Mugen MAX features a classic tower-type design, consisting of a nickel-plated copper base, from which six 6 mm-thick heat pipes of the same material, convey heat to an aluminium fin stack. The fins feature jagged edges and non-planar shapes, to create turbulence, and dissipate heat better. The fan included is a Scythe Falcon 140 mm PWM, with rotation speeds ranging between 500 and 1,300 RPM, pushing between 37.37 and 97.18 CFM of air, with noise outputs between 13 and 30.70 dBA. Measuring 145 mm x 110 mm x 161 mm (WxDxH), it weighs in at 870 g. The Mugen MAX supports nearly all modern CPU socket types, including LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA1366, AM3+, and FM2+. It's expected to be available around mid-June, 2014.

Scythe Unveils Kodati Ultra Low-Profile CPU Cooler

Scythe unveiled the Kodati ultra low-profile CPU cooler (model: SCKDT-1000), which could give Intel's stock heatsink a run for the money in compactness. Its biggest selling point is its height of just 3.4 cm (including fan). Kodati is a C-type aluminium fin-stack heatsink, in which heat drawn from a nickel-plated copper base is conveyed to a dense aluminium fin-stack, which propagates along the plane of the motherboard, by a pair of 6 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The fin stack is ventilated from below (blowing upwards through the stack), by a 10 mm-thick 80 mm fan, which features 4-pin PWM connector. The fan can push between 6 and 24.8 CFM of air, spinning at speeds between 800 and 3,300 RPM, with noise outputs ranging between 8.2 and 32.5 dBA. In all, the cooler measures 82.5 mm x 95 mm x 34 mm (WxDxH), weighing 180 g. Among the CPU socket types supported, are LGA115x, LGA775, AM3(+), and FM2(+). Its availability is slated for mid-June, 2014.

Scythe Rolls Out CorePower SFX 300W Power Supply

Japanese peripherals maker Scythe announced a 300W variant of its CorePower line of PSUs in the SFX form-factor. Measuring 125 mm x 63 mm x 100 mm, these units offer continuous 300W delivery, and connectors that include 24-pin ATX, two each of SATA and Molex, and one Berg. There's no mention of PCIe connectors. All modern electrical and thermal protections are on offer. The unit is cooled by an 80 mm fan that can spin at speeds of up to 2,200 RPM. Scythe didn't announce pricing.

Scythe Unveils the Kaze Master Flat II Fan Controller

Japanese cooling-expert Scythe is hereby announcing the successor of the Kaze Master Flat. The new version is using the classic design of the predecessor but omits the Protective Display Cover and replaces it with a solid front-panel with decently implemented buttons, offering users a clean appearance and fast access.

The big Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) covers most of the front-panel space and provides great overview of values that matter. Total of four touch-sensitive buttons are located in the corners, giving access to all the main functions of the Kaze Master Flat II fan-controller. The buttons on the right side allow users to adjust the fan speed in the range from 0 to 9.999 RPM, depending on the connected fan. Fan speed is adjusted by changing the input-voltage between 3,7 and 12 volts, as it has been done with other Scythe fan-controllers in the past. Each fan channel supports regular 3-pin and 4-pin PWM fans. Total consumption per channel has been tripled to 3 ampere (36 watts).

Scythe Unveils Tatsumi 1000B CPU Cooler

Scythe unveiled the Tatsumi 1000B entry-level CPU cooler. Measuring 102 mm x 83 mm x 146 mm (WxDxH), and weighing in at 450 g, Tatsumi features a tower-type heatsink with three 6 mm thick copper heat pipes conveying heat drawn from a nickel-plated copper base, to an aluminium fin stack; and ventilated by a 92 mm PWM controllable fan. The fan spins at speeds ranging between 200 and 2,500 RPM, pushing between 6.7 and 55.55 CFM of air, with noise output ranging between 7.2 and 31.07 dBA. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA1366, AM3(+), and FM2(+). Scythe is expected to begin shipping the Tatsumi in early-May.

Scythe Unveils Iori Top-Flow CPU Cooler

The evolving PC market moves towards yet smaller and faster Computers. Scythe reacts to the trend and offers a compact Top-Flow CPU Cooler, which is especially developed for Mini- and Micro-ATX systems. Iori supports the latest platforms of both AMD and Intel. But it gets even better: Thanks to the low-weight of the heatsink, an improved version of the Push-Pin mounting mechanism has been used, allowing fast heatsink mounting on virtually every motherboard.

In spite of its compact dimensions of 107 x 92 x 136 mm and its low heatsink weight of only 400 grams, Scythe Iori is able to cool latest CPUs from both Intel and AMD. Scythe achieved this by utilizing three 6 mm copper-heatpipes, which are crossing the heatsink twice, and the use of a custom-made PWM axial-fan. Fan speed of the supplied 100-millimeter model can be controlled by the motherboard thanks to the PWM-function between 300 and 1.800 RPM. Hence allows the fan to move between 7,3 and 43,74 cubic feet per minute (12,4 ~ 74,3m³/h) at a low noise level between 4,5 and 26,7 dBA. The custom-made axial-fan is equipped with common 92 mm mounting holes.

Scythe Announces SCIOR-1000 CPU Cooler

Scythe announced the SCIOR-1000 CPU cooler in Japan. The mid-range cooler features an aluminium fin stack that's arranged along the plane of the motherboard, fed by three 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes that draw heat from a nickel-plated copper base. The fin-stack is ventilated by an unusual 100 mm PWM-controlled fan that spins between 300 and 1,800 RPM, pushing up to 43.74 CFM of air. Measuring 107 mm x 136 mm x 117 mm (WxDxH), the cooler weighs about 400 g. It supports most modern CPU socket types. Slated for 26th December, the SCIOR-1000 is expected to be priced at 3,480¥ (US $33).

Scythe Unveils Kotetsu Tower-Type CPU Cooler

Scythe announced a new mid-range tower-type CPU cooler in its home market of Japan, named Kotetsu, and bearing the model number SCKTT-1000. Its design involves a mirror-finished nickel-plated copper base, from which four 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes emerge, passing through a dense aluminium fin stack with patterns of differently-aligned fins, to increase turbulence, and with it, heat dissipation. The fin-stack is neatly topped off by a plastic plate.

Measuring 130 x 58 x 160 mm (WxDxH), the heatsink weighs about 480 g. It's ventilated by a Falcon 120 (120 mm) PWM-controlled fan, which spins between 400 and 1,400 RPM, pushing up to 79 CFM of air, with a maximum noise output of 28 dBA. Kotetsu supports all modern CPU socket types, including LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA775, AM3+/AM3, and FM2+/FM2/FM1. It's priced at 3,480 JPY (US $35).

Japanese manufacturer Scythe, famous for its innovative and market leading cooling concepts and accessories, introduces a new edition of the popular Mugen 4 CPU cooler. In the past, Mugen series was modified in cooperation with the experts from the Ger-man Computer Magazine "PC Games Hardware". Scythe Kaze Chrono Fan Controller Pictured

Scythe unveiled its groovy new Kaze Chrono fan controller (model: KM07-BK). Its head unit, which is designed for 5.25-inch drive bays, is characterized by a large LCD panel with a brick-matrix, similar to Tetris handhelds, which can display fan-speed of its various channels, temperature, or simply work as a clock. As a controller, it draws power from a 4-pin Berg connector, giving out four 3-pin fan headers. Speed is controlled by selecting a channel, and holding down the + or - buttons. Its mode can be switched between fan control, temperature monitoring, clock, and display-off. The controller can detect a stopped or failing fan, and flash an alarm. Measuring 148.5 x 83 x 42 mm, it weighs about 165 g. Scythe is expected to begin shipping the Kaze Chrono sometime in July. In Japan, it is expected to go for 3,980¥ (US $40).

Scythe Grand Flex 120 mm Fan Series Detailed

Japanese PC cooling expert Scythe unveiled its brand new high-performance PC fan series, the Grand Flex. The company started off with its 28 mm-thick 120 mm variants, among which are four fixed-speed variants, including the Grand Flex 800 RPM (SM1225GF12SL), 1,200 RPM (SM1225GF12L), 1,600 RPM (SM1225GF12M), and 2,000 RPM (SM1225GF12H). All four of these feature 3-pin connectors. Scythe also unveiled the Grand Flex PWM (SM1225GF12SH-P), which spins at 600 to 2,500 RPM, and features 4-pin PWM fan control.

The Grand Flex series feature a unique new impeller design that maximizes air-flow at the given speeds, resulting in good airflow-to-noise ratios. The 800 RPM variant pushes 30.5 CFM at 18 dBA noise output; the 1,200 RPM variant does 45.8 CFM at 23.5 dBA; the 1,600 RPM does 61.1 CFM at 28.5 dBA; and the 2,000 RPM variant pushes 76.6 CFM at 34.5 dBA. The Grand Flex PWM pushes 24.2 to 98.6 CFM, with a noise output ranging between 13.5 to 39.5 dBA. Its head features fluid-dynamic bearing, with a lubricant that can withstand temperatures as high as 250°C. Scythe didn't release pricing, but announced it would begin shipping these fans by July 3.

Scythe Expands Slip Stream Series with 140 mm Models

Japanese cooling-expert Scythe expands one of its key portfolio segments by introducing a new lineup of native 140 mm axial-fans. Scythe adds total of five brand new models to the very popular Slip Stream case fan series as a reaction to the market demand.

The successful design of "small hub & large fan blades" was originally introduced with the first Slip Stream series. Scythe made the effort to further improve the design for the new Slip Stream XT and Slip Stream XT PWM. In result, a new frame design with notches has been developed to reduce the overall noise level even further. In addition, all the Slip Stream XT and Slip Stream XT PWM fans are supplied with a set of vibration dampers to reduce the vibration transfer to the PC chassis.

Scythe Introduces the Kama Panel 3.1 Featuring USB 3.0 and 2.5-inch HDD/SSD Rack

Japanese manufacturer Scythe is hereby announcing an update of the Kama Panel series. Kama Panel 3.1 offers an easy and fast way to extend the PC chassis with additional connectivity such as two USB 3.0 ports and a HDD Rack for 2,5 inch Hard Drives (HDD) as well as Solid State Drives (SSD). Useful features such as a built-in fan controller for two fans, a card reader and front audio connectors have been kept from the earlier models and remained throughout the revisions.

Kama Panel 3.1 is based on the successful design of the former versions, which has been gradually upgraded with new functions and technologies to offer the best possible connectivity and usability, packed into a single 5,25 inch bay in the front panel. Japanese manufacturer Scythe, known for high performance CPU Coolers and innovative PC accessories, is hereby announcing the brand new Ashura CPU Cooler.

Scythe Ashura is featuring a versatile mounting mechanism for latest CPU sockets and a very slim tower heatsink design to deliver high performance at low noise levels. Hence allows efficient cooling of latest six-core CPUs as well as almost inaudible operation especially with low consumption CPUs in silent systems. Furthermore it is equipped with a Scythe Glide Steam axial-fan, which was recently introduced with Scythe Kabuto II.

Like the Mugen 4, this cooler comes with HPMS, a new retention system that takes fewer steps to install, and supports the new LGA1150 CPU socket. Slated for April 24, it is priced at 4,980¥ (US $50).

Scythe rolled out the fourth generation Mugen CPU cooler, in its home market of Japan. Mugen 4 (model: SCMG-4000), builds on the design of its predecessor with a feature it calls TMAPS (three-dimensional multiple airflow pass-through structure), a fin stack arrangement that works to improve air-flow and heat-dissipation to the flowing air. Another abbreviation Scythe is throwing at you is HPMS (hyper-precision mounting system), a new retention module that takes fewer steps to install, and supports all modern CPU socket types, including the upcoming Intel socket LGA1150, on which desktop Core "Haswell" processors will be based.

Scythe Announces Kama Bay Amp Pro 5.25-inch 2-DIN Amplifier for PCs

Japanese manufacturer Scythe today officially announcing the availability of the flagship amplifier Kama Bay Amp Pro. With the new Kama Bay Amp Pro Scythe was able to make a big step forward in terms of functionality and usability. Like the earlier models this flagship model can be both used on its own and inside a common PC chassis, fitting inside the 5,25 inch bays (occupying two 5,25 inch bays). It is furthermore featuring a brand new infrared remote control as well as a front USB port, allowing media devices such as MP3 players or Smartphones to be charged.

Kama Bay Amp Pro is drawing its power from a powerful MAXIM MAX 98400A IC, enabling a continuous max. output of 24 watts per channel at 8 Ω (48 W total). At the same time a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz can be covered by the new flagship. High energy efficiency was one of the key targets when designing the new amplifier, alongside with maximum functionality. Scythe Announces SlipStream 140XT Fan Series

Japanese peripherals maker Scythe announced a pair of cost-effective 140 mm fans, the SlipStream 140XT and the 140XT PWM. The 140XT (3-pin, non-PWM) is available in four variants based on their top speeds, the 500 RPM SM1425XT12SL, the 800 RPM SM1425XT12L, the 1200 RPM SM1425XT12M, and the 1700 RPM SM1425XT12H. The 140XT PWM (4-pin PWM connector), comes in just the one flavor, the 1300 RPM SM1425XT12M-P. Both fans feature the same basic-looking design, measuring 140 x 140 x 25 mm, with square frames that feature mount-holes for both 140 mm and 120 mm fan-size standards. Both feature 500 mm-long cables for those hard to reach headers on your motherboard, and sleeved bearings that yield 30,000 hours MTBF.

The SM1425XT12SL has a speed tolerance level of ±30%, can push 27.2 CFM of air at its rated speed of 500 RPM, with a noise output of 9.6 dBA. The SM1425XT12L tolerates ±20%, pushes 43.5 CFM of air, with a noise output of 14.3 dBA. The SM1425XT12M pushes 65.2 CFM of air, with a noise output of 23.2 dBA. The SM1425XT12H is the most pushy fan of the lot, driving 92.4 CFM of air, with 36.4 CFM noise output. The SM1425XT12M-P pushes a maximum of 70 CFM of air at 1300 RPM, with 24.7 dBA noise output.
