Tt eSports Announces the Nemesis Switch Gaming Mouse

Tt eSports, Thermaltake's gaming peripherals division, has announced their new take on what an RGB, MOBA or MMO-oriented mouse should deliver. The Nemesis Switch Gaming Mouse features, as its distinguishing feature, a patented switch system that allows for the customization of up to 12 switch keys. Eight of those are available straight away on the left-hand side of the mouse, with four additional keys being hidden inside the mouse.

"But what good are they for if they're hidden and thus inaccessible?", you ask? That's a good question. That's where the patented system comes in: you simply push the panel where the eight side keys are held, and like magic, four other keys come from inside the mouse. Due to this lever system, you'll certainly lose time with the mechanism rolling inside the mouse and exposing either set of keys, so maybe you should take care which actions you configure these extra four keys with. The twelve macro-supporting programmable buttons are configured by Thermaltake's Tt eSports Plus+ mobile and PC application. The Tt eSports Plus+ app also stores activity logs, performance statistics, and other information.

New Cherry MX Black Silent Switches Announced; No Longer Exclusive to Corsair

Cherry GmbH, the German-American computer peripheral-device maker best known for its mechanical keyboard switches, has announced a new addition to their Silent line of switches. The new Silent Black switches join the company's Silent line-up of Silent Red, Silent RGB Red, and Silent RGB Black. Cherry MX Silent switches are not particularly new, but until now, they were limited to linear Red switches, and were used exclusively on Corsair products (such as the STRAFE RGB Keyboard). Now, though, Corsair's exclusivity has come to an end, leaving other companies free to implement the Silent switches onto their own keyboards.

The "silent" operation is achieved via a rubber pad which dampens the sound of both the switch bottoming out and the rebound noise. Otherwise, the switches' specifications are identical to those of their non-silent counterparts. It's also worth noting that both Red and Black switches are linear, meaning there's no extra click within the key travel. The Silent Black switches are specified for 60 cN +/- 20 cN actuation force (against the 40 cN of their Silent Red counterparts), 2mm +/-0.6 pretravel, 4mm /-0.4 actuator travel, <5 ms bounce time, and are rated at 50 million key presses.

AMD's Stock Edges Upwards of $10; NVIDIA's Soars Past the $100 Mark

AMD has definitely been on the upswing in recent times, with CEO Lisa Su having seemingly conducted a frail, collapsing company through the muddiest waters in its history. The general sentiment towards the company seems to now be leaning towards the "bullish" side of the equation, which translated into a cool $10.66 per stock at Friday's closing time (having increased, after hours, towards the $10.80 mark. This is great news for a company which has essentially increased their stock value by a factor of four in the last year alone.

Shares of AMD's rival Nvidia, however, have risen 60% in the past three months and nearly 200% in the past year. NVIDIA's share value closed last Friday at a historic $100.41 (having since declined towards $99.55), over a strong bullish sentiment towards the company, which has recently signed a Warrant Termination Agreement with Goldman Sachs for a $63 million value. This basically shows investors that the company has sufficient cash so as not to allow them to see their share value diluted by the sudden entry in circulation of $63 million of shares, should Goldman Sachs exercise their (now terminated) warrant.

G.Skill Adds Cherry MX Speed Silver Switches to its KM570 Keyboard Lineup

Ever-increasing its offerings within the KM570 and KM870 lineup of mechanical keyboards, G.Skill has recently put up a product page for yet another iteration of their KM570 keyboard: the Cherry MX Speed Silver equipped KM570, which joins the companies' offerings of Blue, Red and Brown Cherry MX switches.

The Cherry MX Speed Silver switches feature a shorter - and therefore faster - 1.2mm (as opposed to the more common 2mm) actuation distance with a light 45G switch weight. Constructed with a 50 million keystroke durability and a smooth linear key response as well as contoured keypads for greater comfort, the KM570's other features include macro support with on-the-fly macro recording, per-key lighting customization with seven lighting patterns, full n-Key rollover and 100% anti-ghosting technologies, as well as shortcuts for Windows functions, keyboard functions, media playback and volume control.

The RIPJAWS KM570 MX with Speed Silver switches comes in at $109.99, $10 more than the companies' Red, Blue and Brown offerings, and $10 less than the equivalent offerings with RGB lighting capabilities.

NVIDIA Claws Back Console Chips Business: Nintendo Switch Announced

After months of speculation, the lid is off Nintendo's "NX" project, with the company finally announcing today its much-awaited games console, the Nintendo Switch. With an expected release slated for March 2017, the console blurs the line between a games console and a handheld device, by making use of a docking station which will allow it to connect to a television, much like a traditional games console, while instantly entering a so called "portable mode" when it is undocked. As both a console and a portable device, the Nintendo Switch will use cartridges known as Game Cards, displaying games in a "high definition display" embedded on the console while on the go, with two detachable Joy-Con controllers stepping in as input devices.

For PC hardware enthusiasts, that may not be all too interesting. What is arguably more interesting is that this games console will make use of NVIDIA hardware: most notably, a custom Tegra processor is the one pulling out all of the console's processing needs, with the graphics being served by what the company calls "the same architecture as the world's top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards."

Orico Unveils HDD Power Switch

Have tons of hard-drives plugged to internal ports in your machine? Want control over which ones stay on, and don't trust your OS or apps to wake random drives up from their slumber, stepping up noise and power draw? Orico has a solution for you. The HD-PW6102 is an accessory that fits into any of your multiple empty 5.25-inch drive bays, and gives you manual switches to six SATA power cables. The device draws power from two 4-pin Molex connectors, and gives out six SATA power cables, which are sleeved. Each of the six cables can be manually plugged out of the box.

To use the HD-PW6102 properly, the SATA controller needs to be set in AHCI mode, with hot-plugging enabled. The device manually gates power to drives to turn them off. With AHCI hot-plugging enabled, you can use the "safely remove hardware" menu in your system tray to deactivate a drive before switching it off with the device. To use the drive again, simply switch it on, and the OS mounts it like any other PnP storage volume. In addition to push-switches, it has power indicators for each of the six drives. The main body and front bezel are made of brushed aluminum. The accessory started selling in Orico's homeland China, where it's priced at 373 RMB (US $60).
