LG Unveils New UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor With 480Hz Refresh Rate and DP 2.1

LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its latest, premium UltraGear OLED gaming monitor GX7 (model 27GX790A). Designed for serious gamers, the new model features a 27-inch, QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440) WOLED display with a 0.03milliseconds Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response time and a 480 Hz refresh rate - the fastest of any QHD OLED monitor. The 27GX790A, the most compact UltraGear OLED display yet, delivers enhanced gaming immersion with exceptional picture quality, silky-smooth performance and 4-side virtually borderless design. It also works seamlessly with the newest graphics cards, thanks to an array of advanced connectivity options, including DisplayPort 2.1.

The all-new 27GX790A is equipped with LG's WOLED display technology, which employs a white OLED light source with color filters to produce accurate RGB colors and impressive screen brightness. OLED Monitor Shipments to Reach 1.44 Million Units in 2024, Marking 181% YoY Growth

TrendForce reports that the OLED monitor market is set to receive a boost with the introduction of new 31.5-inch OLED models. Panel makers are focusing on product differentiation and improved specifications, while several gaming brands are aggressively launching new models to capture market share. OLED monitor shipments are projected to reach 1.44 million units in 2024—representing YoY growth of 181%—with strong growth expected to continue in the coming years.

Samsung is expected to secure the top spot owing to strong sales of its 49-inch OLED monitors and a steady pipeline of new product releases. Its 2024 market share is forecast to expand to 31%. LGE, leveraging ample panel resources and continuous product line expansion, is poised to take second place with a projected 19% market share.

ASUS Announces Availability of ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP Gaming Monitor

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced availability of the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP gaming monitor. It boasts a 32-inch 4K WOLED anti-reflective panel that delivers HD and UHD visuals with impressive motion clarity and desktop fluidity due to its ultra high dual mode refresh rate and low pixel response. The PG32UCDP enables users to switch from 4K @ 240 Hz to FHD @ 480 Hz depending on the game you are playing as well as the importance of motion clarity. Aspect ratio control customization allows for further resolution and refresh customization.

Third-generation ROG OLED and Micro Lens Array Plus (MLA+) technologies enable the PG32UCDP to showcase 15% brighter images compared to other monitors in its class. The PG32UCDP delivers vibrant colors and contrast is outstanding alongside impressive peak HDR performance for video and gaming content. A 0.03 ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time ensures next level motion clarity whether in SDR or HDR. ASUS Launches Glossy 1440p WOLED Gaming Monitor

Today is a good day for those of you that have wanted a glossy OLED gaming monitor, as ASUS has launched the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG, which is a glossy WOLED gaming monitor. The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG sports a 2560 x 1440 pixel WOLED display with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 0.03 ms grey to grey response time. ASUS also claims up to 20 percent brighter image in SDR mode and deeper black hues under any lighting conditions, quite something to live up to. On the more technical side, the panel is said to offer a 1.5 million to one contrast ratio, support for 99 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space or 135 percent of the RGB colour space and it's should also have 10-bit colour support.

Connectivity wise, there will be disappointing sights from some, as the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG relies on a single DP 1.4 with DSC and a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports for video inputs, which means the HDMI ports are limited to 144 Hz. It also only has two USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 Gbps ports and no USB Type-C input, although there's a headphone jack for those that want to use that. Other features include FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible support, as well as ASUS' trace free technology, GamePlus, shadow boost and OLED care. No word on official pricing at this point in time, but it's non-glossy counterpart retails for US$900.

Update May 21st: ASUS has announced the offical pricing for the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG and the MSRP is US$699, which makes it around US$200 cheaper than its non-glossy counterpart. It'll go on sale from the 30th of May.
