Logitec Readies Compact Wi-Fi N-300 Router

Logitec Japan unveiled the LAN-W300N/RS line of compact wireless internet routers. Measuring just 56 x 42 x 13.5, weighing 23 g (excluding the light AC adapter), the router is ideal for carrying around, when traveling. Its WLAN module supports 802.11 b/g/n with 300 Mbps transfer rates supported in 802.11 n mode. Its wired interfaces include a 10/100 Mbps downstream Ethernet connection, and a WAN uplink. Wireless security standards such as WPA/WPA2-PSK with 64-bit and 128-bit AES encryption, WPA2-PSK with TKIP, and WEP are supported. The router is available in two color choices, black and white. Slated for late-May, the LAN-W300N/RS from Logitec, is expected to sell for 3,570 JPY (US $44.4) a pop.

NETGEAR Introduces New Additions To 802.11ac Product Line For Next-Generation WiFi

Buffalo's 802.11ac Wireless Solutions Available Now

Belkin Announces Entry Into 802.11ac Wireless Networking Market

Belkin International, creators of people-inspired products and technology solutions, today announced plans to become one of the first to market with a line of wireless dual-band routers supporting the new 802.11ac wireless networking standard. New Belkin products will feature Broadcom's fifth generation (5G WiFi) 802.11ac chips, which enable speeds up to three times faster than existing 802.11n technology.

Cisco Reports Third Quarter Earnings

Cisco, the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate, today reported its third quarter results for the period ended April 28, 2012. Cisco reported third quarter net sales of $11.6 billion, net income on a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis of $2.2 billion, or $0.40 per share, and non-GAAP net income of $2.6 billion, or $0.48 per share.

"We delivered solid results this quarter with record revenue and non-GAAP earnings per share," said John Chambers, Cisco chairman and CEO. "We are successfully executing against our long-term strategic plan of growing profit faster than revenue, and in a cautious IT spending environment, we continue to outperform our competitors."

Kingston Expands Device Support for Wi-Drive

Easy-To-Use Wi-Fi An Essential Offering For Service Providers

Seamless connection to Wi-Fi on the go is the overwhelming preference of smartphone and tablet users, according to a new survey released today by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Ninety percent of those polled said they would likely stick with their current service provider if it offered the ability to connect automatically in Wi-Fi hotspots, and 72 percent said they would pay more for it. Seventy percent said they would switch providers if necessary to access this type of offering.

Conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of the Wi-Fi Alliance, the poll results indicate that easy-to-use Wi-Fi can drive loyalty and impact service providers' bottom line. It comes at a time when providers worldwide rely on Wi-Fi to ease exploding data demand on their networks, and consumers gravitate to it to stay connected. A new certification program from the Wi-Fi Alliance, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint, is poised to transform Wi-Fi into a true extension of service provider networks.

LG Introduces the First Real Streaming Multimedia Cloud for all Three Screens

LG Electronics (LG) announced the beta opening of LG Cloud service on May 1 with the aim of providing seamless connectivity and streaming access to all digital content across various electronic devices. Although cloud is today's hottest IT buzzwords, LG Cloud is the first that allows users to manage and consume all types of content on "three screens" which includes Android smartphones, PCs and smart TVs (including but not limited to CINEMA 3D models) without a separate set-top box.

To use the service, users need to download the LG Cloud app from Google Play or LG SmartWorld app store from their Android smartphones, LG SmartWorld store from their LG Smart TVs or the LG Cloud website from their PCs or laptops. LG's Cloud service automatically synchronizes smartphone content with the cloud server and the user's PC and TV. Photos and videos taken with the smartphone can be viewed and streamed to the PC or TV almost instantaneously. Videos edited on a PC can be uploaded to LG Cloud for viewing seconds later on a smartphone. TV Recording Feature added to Hauppauge Broadway

Hauppauge Digital, Inc.
