Zalman Intros ZM-SF3 Case Fans with ''Shark's Fin Blade'' Design

Zalman today announced the ZM-SF3 fans in Europe, which feature what it calls "Shark's fin Blade" design. The ridges and protrusions on each fan-blade reduce turbulence, resulting in a better airflow to rotational speed ratio, and more importantly, reduced noise. This fan blade design is backed by a motor that makes use of what Zalman calls "Everlasting Quiet" (ELQ) bearing that makes use of a nano-composite material that results in a lifespan of over 150,000 hours with minimum noise.

The fan's frame uses blocks of silicone at its corners that dampen vibration, and silicone pins are provided instead of metal screws that bring down vibration transfer to the chassis even further. This results in a rated noise level of under 25 dBA. The fan measures 120 x 120 x 26.4 mm, weighing 118 g. It spins at speeds between 900 and 1,500 rpm. It takes its power from a 3-pin power connector. Zalman, however, did not announce pricing.

Zalman Displays CNPS9900 MAX CPU Cooler

One of Zalman's latest creations is a refresh on its CNPS9900 CPU cooler, the CNPS9900 MAX. While identical to the CNPS9900 base model (copper) in many ways, the MAX sports a black+graphite look, making use of nickel-plated copper. The design involved two loops of copper fins to which heat is conducted by heat pipes, while air is circulated by a 120 mm FDB bearing fan that spins between 800~1200 rpm, with a noise output of 18~43 dBA. The cooler measures 94 (L) x 131 (W) x 152 (H) mm, weighing 730 g. It supports all current CPU sockets out of the box, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, AM3, and LGA-775. A tube of ZM-STG2 thermal compound is bundled with it. There's no word on the pricing yet.

Zotac Readies GeForce GTX 480 Amp! Edition Graphics Card

Zotac is ready with one of the first non-reference design GeForce GTX 480 graphics card, the Zotac GTX 480 amp! Edition. At the center of its design is the Zalman VF3000 GPU cooler sitting atop an NVIDIA reference design PCB. Overclocked out of the box, the amp! Edition card has clock speeds of 750 MHz (core), 1512 MHz (shader), and 950 MHz / 3800 MHz effective (memory), against reference speeds of 700/1401/924(3700) MHz.

The gigantic VF3000 cooler makes the card require three expansion slots. As with every other GTX 480, the GTX 480 Amp! Edition packs 480 CUDA cores, is DirectX 11 compliant, and has 1536 MB of GDDR5 memory across a 384-bit wide interface. Zotac has not let out any more information, particularly pricing and availability.

Zalman Readies Trimon 24-inch Full HD 3D Monitor

Zalman is readying a new 24-inch 3D LCD monitor, the Trimon ZM-M240W, which is a design upscale of the 21.5-inch ZM-M215W. The display is bundled with a pair of stereoscopic glasses, and lets users switch between 3D and 2D display modes. The TN-panel used has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 (full HD), with a response time of 5 ms. It has a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1, and input connectivity which includes DVI and D-Sub. Expected to launch sometime in May, the Trimon ZM-M240W will cost around 380 EUR.

New Cases, Coolers and 3D Displays From Zalman

Zalman is actually in a local hotel suite, showing off some very interesting products. They are showcasing their 3D monitor in the 21.5 inch variant with FullHD resolution. A 24 inch version can also be had, while a 27 inch LCD and a 32 inch 3D TV LCD are also in planning. We also got a good look at their upcoming VGA coolers for ATI and NVIDIA cards. Due to the different placement of GPU cores, there are now two different coolers with the same general structure. We were told, that the final NVIDIA version will be green, while the red variant is final and will be intended for ATI products.

Zalman Unveils Upcoming Products

Zalman unveiled three new products which it plans to release very soon. The three include CNPS10X Performa CPU cooler, VF3000 series VGA coolers, and Z7 PLUS case. To begin with, the CNPS10X Performa is a tweaked version of the other two CNPS10X series coolers. It sheds away some cosmetic features for those that matter. It retains the tower design structure with five copper heatpipes making their way through an aluminum fin block. Thanks to its cost cutting, the CNPS10X Performa may strike a price-point below $40, where all the action is with coolers from the likes of Arctic Cooling, OCZ, Xigmatek, etc.

The VF3000 series VGA coolers seem to pack quite some cooling power into its racy design. It boasts of being a universal VGA cooler, supporting most of current GPUs, including ATI HD 5000, HD 4000, HD 3000, and NVIDIA 9 series, and 200 series. It comes in two liveries - black and red. The design is similar to many coolers in its league: two copper heatpipes pass through a GPU contact base, leading to two aluminum fin blocks which are cooled by LED-lit fans. Lastly, there's the Z7 PLUS case. This ATX mid-tower packs features essential to today's mid-range gamer PCs, with a perforated metal front bezel, all its drive bays can be converted to external bays. Zalman Readies MFC1 Combo Fan Controller

Zalman is readying a new multi-channel fan controller, the MFC1 Combo. This fan controller occupies one 5.25-inch drive bay, and comes with a brushed aluminum bezel. Out of the five independent channels the controller provides, four work on the conventional voltage-control principle, while one provides PWM (pulse-width modulation) control. Each channel delivers up to 7W / 0.6 A. The PWM-controlled channel also comes with a PWM-mode with three speed presets a fourth one can be user-defined. The Zalman MFC1 Combo should be priced at around 40 EUR.

Zalman Releases PWM Mate Fan Controller

Zalman launched its pulse-width modulation (PWM) based universal fan controller called the PWM Mate. This nifty little device connects to 4-pin PWM fans (such as those on CPU coolers), and provides more precise fan control than what traditional fan controllers would offer. PWM fan controllers adjust the speed of a fan by supplying the motor pulses of current instead of reduced voltage. The device is able to provide precise fan speed control between 25~100 percent speed. It comes in the form of a hand-held pod that can stay within your chassis or pop out. The main unit measures 55 (L) x 24 (B) x 13.5 (H) mm and uses a 4-pin fan connector to connect to the motherboard and then to the cooler. Those finding it familiar will note that the PWM Mate has been selling as part of the CNPS-10X Extreme's package. Its pricing and availability are yet to be known.

Zalman Rolls out CNPS-10X Flex CPU Cooler

Traditionally, a specialists in aluminum/copper fin 'ring' type CPU coolers, Zalman maintained a performance leadership till aluminum fin tower type CPU coolers took over as the better performing design. Zalman was forced to keep up with the trend, which it did with the introduction of its CNPS-10X series coolers, namely CNPS-10X Quiet, and CNPS-10X Extreme. The third one in the series, which Zalman recently made available to European stores, is the CNPS-10X Flex. This is basically a tower-type heatsink that uses a block of 56 aluminum fins (some of which are anodized black), to which heat is conveyed by five copper heat-pipes. While it does not include a fan of its own, it gives you the flexibility of using your own 120 mm fan, and allows for two fans in all. The retention module supplied supports all current CPU sockets, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. Priced at €40, it is €10 cheaper than the CNPS-10X Quiet, enough price difference to allow you to buy a decent-quality 120 mm fan of your choice, be it performance-oriented, or quiet.

Zalman Rolls out ZM-RC1000 Memory Cooler

Korean cooling specialist Zalman rolled out its first memory area cooler called the ZM-RC1000. Like similar products from popular memory vendors such as Corsair, Kingston, and A-Data to name a few, the cooler latches on to the motherboard's long DRAM slots and blows air onto the installed memory modules with its two 60 mm fans. The cooler measures 66 (L) x 155 (W) x 70 (H) mm, weighing 160 g. The retention mechanism has anti-vibration grips to dampen noise, and its thumb-screws make it tool-free. The fans spin at 2700 rpm with a maximum noise output of 25 ± 2.5 dBA. It comes with two panel colours: silver and blue. An early listing by a European store prices it at 16.30 EUR.

Zalman Prepares More Mid-Range PSUs

Korean PC cooling specialist Zalman is preparing two new PSU models for the mid-range PC market, the ZM500-ST and ZM600-ST. As the names suggest, the ZM500-ST is a 500W PSU, and the ZM600-ST a 600W one. When placed in their price points (yet to be known), the manufacturer promises the two to have the best price-performance ratios. Both have non-modular, sleeved cabling with connectors most common to PSUs in the class. Both PSUs are ATX12V 2.3 compliant, have dual-forward switching circuitry, and are 80 Plus certified for high efficiency. The +12V circuit is built of two rails. Backed by a 3-year warranty, the two are expected to hit stores soon.

Zalman Intros CNPS9900A LED CPU Cooler

Zalman rolled out its newest CPU cooler, the CNPS9900A LED. This cooler is near-identical to the CNPS9900 LED, with the same dimensions of 94(L) x 131(W) x 152(H) mm, weight of 730 g (1.61 lbs), and an all-copper heat dissipation components design. The differences between the two are that CNPS9900A LED packs a Zalman RC33P resistor cable, and a tube of Zalman's ZM-STG2 thermal compound.

The construction involves a copper CPU contact base from which three heatpipes dissipate heat two two circular copper fin rings on either sides of a blue LED-lit 120 mm fan. Without the RC33P cable, the fan spins at 1000 rpm ~ 2000 rpm, with noise levels of 19.5 dBA ~ 38.0 dBA. But when the RC33P is installed, the speeds and noise outputs are reduced, at 800 rpm ~ 1300 rpm, with noise levels between 18 dBA ~ 28.5 dBA. The ZM-STG2 thermal compound has a thermal conductivity of 4.1 W/mK. 3.5 g of this compound is supplied in a tube. The CNPS9900A LED is compatible with all major sockets including Intel LGA-775, LGA-1156, LGA-1366, and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3, 939/940, 754. It is expected to be priced at US $64.

Zalman CNPS-10X Quiet Cooler Detailed

Zalman is readying another CPU cooler in its 10 series, a successor to CNPS-9900. The company broke away from the trademark copper-fin ring design it used for CNPS-9300, 9500, 9700, and until lately, 9900. After the introduction of the CNPS-10X Extreme, the company disclosed the CNPS-10X Quiet. The differences between the two lie in the construction. The CNPS-10X Quiet uses lesser number of aluminum fins, a good 33% of which are anodized with the Zalman blue theme colour, and holds a simpler PWM controlled fan. The cooler measures 135 x 100 x 160 mm, and weighs 750 g. The 120 mm fan attached to it uses a simpler clip-based retention mechanism, it spins at speeds between 700 and 1400 rpm, with a maximum noise level of 26 dBA. The cooler constuction involves a pre-lapped copper CPU contact block, from which five copper heatpipes convey heat to a vertical aluminum fin array - the design standard of today. Its retention module consists of a bolt-through kit. The package includes a tube of Zalman's ZM-STG2 thermal compound. The cooler is compatible with all standard desktop sockets of today, including Intel LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, AMD AM3/AM2+/AM2, and 939. The cooler will hit stores at an estimated price of under 50 Euro.

Zalman CNPS9900-NT Closing In

Having released the 120 mm copper monstrosity, the CNPS9900, Zalman is looking to give the NVIDIA-branded CNPS9700-NT an update, only this time, there's no NVIDIA branding to be seen. The CNPS9900-NT is decked with nickel-plated copper, which gives it the chrome appearance. Between the two copper-fin blocks, is nested a 120 mm green LED lit fan, which gives the same illumination as the older NT versions of Zalman's coolers. It measures 94 x 131 x 152 mm (LxWxH), and weighs in at 730 g. The fan spins at speeds between 1000 and 2000 rpm. The cooler supports all current CPU socket types, including LGA-1366, LGA-1156, LGA-775, and AM3/AM2(+). It packs a tube of the company's ZM-STG2 thermal compound. When released in Europe, it is expected to sell for 70 EUR.

Zalman Intros ZM-RHS90 VRM Heatsink for Radeon HD 4890, HD 4870

Korean cooling specialist Zalman introduced the ZM-RHS90 heatsink specially designed for ATI Radeon HD 4890, and HD 4870 reference-design PCB. The heatsink is made of anodized aluminum. It measures 93.4 x 36.5 x 23 mm (LxWxH), and weighs 55 g. Due to the large number of Radeon HD 4890/HD 4870 graphics cards in the market using the reference AMD PCB design, Zalman expects a good compatibility range. The heatsink is mounted behind the VDDC chokes, and covers the most significant set of MOSFETs on the card. It uses push-pin retention mechanism. The use of this heatsink is recommended by Zalman, when users opt for their compatible GPU heatsinks that don't cover the card's VRM area. It will arrive at stores very soon.

Zalman Launches ZM500-RS Power Supply

Korean PC cooling specialist Zalman launched the ZM500-RS 500 W mainstream PSU. The PSU provides connectors most common to PSUs in its range, offering support for basic SLI or CrossFire setups, or powerful single graphics cards. Under its hood is the Resonant Switching Circuit Design (RSCD), which Zalman claims to be more efficient than dual-forward switching designs, in minimizing energy loss and heat output.

The PSU uses two 18 A +12V rails and Active PFC support. It has a rated efficiency of 87% and qualifies for the 80 Plus rating. On the connections front, apart from the 24-pin ATX and 8-pin CPU connectors, it provides four SATA, four Molex, one floppy, one PCI-Express 6+2 pin, and one PCI-Express 6-pin connectors. The unit is cooled by a silent 120 mm fan. Following the launch, the PSU should reach markets shortly.

Zalman Shows off Core i5-ready CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler

Zalman, the pioneer in ultra-quiet computer cooling, is gearing up to release the multi-fit Zalman CNPS10X Extreme processor cooler. Oddly enough, the CNPS10X shares no similarity with any of the previous Zalman products. It measures 135 x 100 x 160 mm, weights 920 grams and features a copper base and five 6 mm heatpipes. The heatsink of CNPS10X is nickle-plated and chilled from a dual ball-bearing 120 mm PWM controlled blue LED fan working at speeds between 1000 and 2500 rpm (noise level between 20 dBa and 39 dBA). The CNPS10X Extreme supports AMD's Sockets 754, 939, 940, AM2, AM2+, AM3 and Intel's LGA 775, 1366, and 1156. Bundled with the cooler is a tube of ZM-STG2 thermal grease and Zalman's PWM Mate - a nifty controller for the fan's rotation speed.

Gigabyte GeForce GTS 250 w/ Zalman Cooling Spotted

As NVIDIA gears up to give GeForce GTS 250 a gala CeBIT launch, its partners seem to be ready with their products, and press-shots. Gigabyte will be one of the first to be out with a GeForce GTS 250 based graphics accelerator that uses the company's own design, GV-N250ZL-1GI. For those new, the GeForce GTS 250 is simply a re-launch of the NVIDIA's 9800 GTX+ accelerator. It is based on the same G92b core and uses identical specifications.

Gigabyte's first accelerator sports the Ultra Durable PCB construction. The PCB consists of 2 oz (56.6 g) copper layers that help spread heat and minimize ground electrical noise. It also consists of the all solid-capacitor, ferrite choke, low effective RDS on MOSFETs design. The most interesting feature of this card is its cooler: a Zalman VF1050. Heat is drawn from the GPU-contact block using four heatpipes that convey it to a dense array of copper fins, nucleated by a PWM-controlled fan. The clock speeds on this card remain close to the reference speeds: 740/1850/2000 MHz (core/shader/memory). It might hit the stores after NVIDIA makes the GPU official.

Galaxy GeForce 9600 GT Green Edition Pictured

The GeForce 9600 GT Green Edition is NVIDIA's newest SKU that is based on an energy-efficient variant of the GeForce 9600 GT graphics processor. The SKU maintains the G94 GPU design, except for that it is built on the newer 55 nm silicon process (model: G94-350-B1), that is expected to add to its energy efficiency, also that the GPU makes do with a lower core voltage of around 1.0V from its original 1.1V figure on the 65 nm variant. At its default voltage setting the GPU uses reference clock speeds of 625/1625/900 MHz (core/shader/memory).

Galaxy designed its first accelerator based on the new GPU, to which it added its own set of innovations. The card uses a jumper to allow users to manually set the GPU voltage. At its default state (pins 1-2 short), the GPU operates at 1.0V, but when pins 2-3 are short, the GPU voltage enters a "pressurized state" (increases). When the jumper is removed (neither pins short), the GPU voltage plummets to 0.8V. The Galaxy accelerator needs the 6-pin PCI-E power connector for operation. The GPU is cooled by a classic Zalman VF703 Al cooler, while the memory is passively cooled under its air-flow.

Zalman VF2000 LED in Pretty Pixels

First spotted at the recent CES 2009 event, the Zalman VF2000 LED is incing towards launch. The Korean cooling specialist added a smart bit of innovation to this GPU cooler: it can also be used to cool a CPU. The VF2000 LED is a simplistic looking GPU cooler that is compatible with most GPUs such as the NVIDIA G9x and ATI RV700 series. Designed primarily for graphics cards, the VF2000 LED maintains a short profile. It measures 126x110x45 mm and weighs 290 g. Its construction is fairly simple, consisting of a contact block from which four heatpipes emerge, conveying heat to a dense aluminum fin array. The 90mm PWM-controlled, blue LED-lit fan is embedded into a circular cavity atop the array.

The provision of additional retention modules makes this cooler compatible with the Intel LGA-775 and AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3 sockets. However, the catch is that this cooler is recommended only for CPUs with rated TDPs below 110W, and hence can't be used for overclocking adventures on air-cooling, however, its slim construction sets it up as an ideal cooler for low-profile PCs. BFG Announces New GeForce 9800 GT ThermoIntelligence Graphics Cards

BFG Technologies announced two new graphics cards, the company's non-reference versions of the GeForce 9800 GT accelerators, using the company's own PCB design and the ThermoIntelligence cooling system. The cooling system consists of a central Zerotherm-made GPU cooler and heatsinks over the cards' memory and VRM areas. The GPU cooler as claimed by the company, drops the operational temperatures of the GPU by as much as 30 °C in comparison to the reference NVIDIA cooler. The black PCB holds a 4+1 phase power circuit for the GPU and memory.

These cards come in the OC2 and OCX variants. OC2 represents a level-2 overclock of 650 MHz (core), 1,620 MHz (shader) and 1,926 MHz (memory), and OCX represents a level-3 (top) overclock of 680 MHz (core), 1,674 MHz (shader) and 2,000 MHz (memory). Both graphics cards provide features standard to the GeForce 9800 GT graphics processors, with 112 shader cores and CUDA support for GPU PhysX API acceleration.

Gigabyte Unveils Radeon HD 4870 1GB Equipped with DisplayPort

Gigabyte today, has released a new graphics card based on the ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics processor (GPU), in a non-reference design. While sporting a thin and light appearance, the card retains high-grade electrical components such as digital PWM circuitry the reference PCB sports. The prominent features of the card include a DisplayPort connector alongside an HDMI port, both on the PCB. The card features 1 GB of GDDR5 memory made by Qimonda, across a 256-bit wide bus.

Being non-reference and Gigabyte, it's expected to have a blue coloured PCB. The GPU is cooled by a Zalman VF830 cooler, which features on several of today's graphics cards by Gigabyte. The memory is left to be cooled under its air-flow. The VRM area gets a heatsink of its own. The card is powered by two 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors. It uses reference clock speeds of 750 MHz for the GPU and 900 MHz (effective 3600 MT/s) for the memory. It is yet to be priced.

HIS Releases Radeon HD 4650 iSilence 4

HIS made an addition to its lineup, with a silent Radeon HD 4650 graphics card. The card is passively cooled by a passive cooler by Zalman, the VNF100. The PCB is sandwiched between parts of the cooler. On the top side of the PCB, is the GPU contact block which has some aluminum fins, while three heatpipes arise from it. The heatpipes convey heat to a large and dense array of alumium fins behind the PCB. With the location of these fins being above the PCB in most installations, better cooling is achieved with air heated by the card moving upwards.

The GPU is clocked at 600 MHz. The card uses 512 MB of DDR2 memory clocked at 1000 MHz. The card has started selling in Europe for 77€.
