The first thing that caught my attention after I got over the beauty and richness of the package is the sheer build quality of the 1MORE Quad Driver. These honestly feel indestructible, which is mostly due to their all-aluminum body. They're also stunning to look at with their jet-engine design and subtle red rings. When you're spending $200 on a pair of in-ear headphones, this is exactly what you want them to look and feel like.
On the other side of the headphones are clear markings for their proper orientation. You'll have no trouble figuring out which one goes inside which ear. After a day or two, you won't even have to look for the markings anymore as the ear tips are slanted, so that will become a faster method of determining which ear to push them into.
After removing the factory-installed silicone ear tips, it becomes obvious that the nozzles (sound tubes, if you will) are huge. That leads to one of only a couple of downsides with the 1MORE Quad Driver - putting the ear tips back on is a nightmare, especially if you decide to go with smaller ones. I absolutely hated every single second of the experience. Once I finally managed to put them back on, I felt extremely lucky that I had found those that fit my ears perfectly on just the second try. If I had to repeat the process and experiment, I can't say for sure that I wouldn't have cried. Whatever you do, do not skip on finding your ideal ear-tip size. You're looking for those that fit your ear canals snugly, but don't feel uncomfortable. This isn't important only in terms of wearing comfort; it's also essential for sound quality and passive noise isolation. If you use ear tips that are too large for your ears, your ears will quickly become irritated and start to hurt. If the chosen ear tips are too small, the fit will be too loose, the headphones will fall out of your ears and your surroundings will be audible as well, which messes with the sound's presentation.
The cable is 1.2 meters long and has a Kevlar coating that makes it harder to bend and tangle. 1MORE calls it "tangle resistant", which is a fair description - it definitely can and will get tangled, but not as quickly and thoroughly as your regular IEM cable. It's also easier to untangle because of the aforementioned Kevlar coating. The cable generally feels robust and seems like it will have no trouble withstanding the test of time. Same goes for the angled 3.5-mm connector the cable terminates with. Like every other vital part of the 1MORE Quad Driver, it too is encased in metal.
10 cm down the right headphone is an in-line remote control. It sports an all-aluminum chassis and is every bit as nicely made as the headphones themselves. There are three buttons on it which can be used when the 1MORE Quad Driver is connected to an Android or iOS smartphone. The top and bottom ones adjust the volume. The middle one has several functions. When you press it once, it will play or pause whatever is playing. Pressing it twice will skip to the next song. If you're using an iOS device, you can also press it three times to go back to the previous song. Doing so on Android will simply cause your music player to skip ahead two songs.
Microphone Performance
The middle button has yet another function regardless of the platform: it can be used to answer or end phone calls. The small hole on the rear of the remote contains a microphone. This is why the in-line remote control is located so close to the face - so you can talk in your normal voice and have a conversation with the person calling you. Here's a sample recording of the microphone in RecForge 2 Pro, after connecting the 1MORE Quad Driver to my smartphone (OnePlus 2):
As far as in-line microphones go, the quality of the one supplied with the 1MORE Quad Driver goes above and beyond anyone's expectations. This is a great in-line microphone that will serve you for phone calls perfectly. Nobody I talked to had any trouble understanding me, which is great!
