Value & Conclusion

  • The A-DATA 633x 32GB sells for about 175 €-200 €. This is the price you have to pay for one of the highest spec'ed Compact Flash cards on the market.
  • Excellent performance
  • Faster than a 7200 RPM SATA II drive
  • Great random access times
  • Should be able to handle any of latest generation DSLR cameras you throw at it
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Requires very little power
  • No moving parts
  • Interesting for extremely small PCs
  • Price
  • 90+ MB/s read and write speed not attainable
  • No everyday scenario would be able to push the card to its limit
  • Not the best choice for normal notebooks or PCs - better go with an SSD.
The A-DATA 32GB 633x Compact Flash card shows what the company is capable of delivering. While you will find CF cards with 128 GB or even more storage space, A-DATA is pushing the limit with one of the fastest cards on the market. That is its greatest strength and also its Achilles Heel. Being an excellent performer is certainly a strong positive aspect, but odds are you will not be able to find a real world scenario in which to use such a card.
This is not to say, that such an environment does not exist, but those are highly specialized applications and not broadly used. It should also be noted that even though the 633x card from A-DATA is the fastest we have ever reviewed, it does not manage 90 MB/s in a real world test. Sure, it may be attainable theoretically, but not when used with a standard interface. So where does that leave the CF card and what would you use it for? It would be the perfect choice for extremely small form factor PCs, which cannot hold a 2.5" or 1.8" hard drive/SSD. The A-DATA 633x would feel right at home if you require the speed of a modern desktop drive in the palm of your hand - without any moving parts.
