Performance

USB 3.0

Taking a look at HD Tach with USB 3.0 attached, the hard drive within the system becomes the bottleneck. In terms of performance with USB 3.0, the drive has that usual downward performance line. This means that the USB 3.0 interface is able to tickle everything out of the drive, much like eSATA would. Compared to other USB 3.0 enclosures out there, performance is virtually identical, so you will not notice a difference during everyday use.

In terms of small file writes, the drive ends up being noticeably slower and somewhat more erratic than the Verbatim Store'n'Go USB 3.0 drive for example. The performance even dips below 60 MB/s write at one point.

USB 2.0

The CH11 delivers a stable read and write line when connected to a USB 2.0 port. As you can see, it does quite well in terms of read, but the write speeds are a bit slower. You may notice this when writing one big file to the drive, as you will have to wait a tad bit longer for it to transfer.

ATTO delivers very similar results, with the same performance ceiling as seen when benching with HDTach. The overall performance is by no means bad, but it should be mentioned that there are better enclosures out there in terms of write speed.
