AMD Elite A-Series A10-7860K APU Design
The design of these latest AMD Elite A10-7860K APUs is pretty straightforward. The picture above is of the included case badge. A list of the specifications for each side of the APU chip is below:
4 Steamroller Cores:- Total L1 Cache: 256 KB
- Total L2 Cache: 4MB
- PCI Express Version: PCIe 3.0
- Base Clock Speed: 3.6 GHz
- Max Turbo Core Speed: 4.0 GHz
- Number of Threads: 4
Radeon R7 Graphics:- 8 GCN Cores (512 Stream Processors)
- 757 MHz
- HDMI 1.4a
- Display Port 1.2, DVI
- AMD Freesync technology
The AMD A10-7860K is both CPU and GPU. The highly capable silicon is hidden under a heatspreader that spans nearly the entire length and width of the PCB, its underside full of pins ready to fit into an AMD FM2+ socket.
A close look at the APU did not reveal much, other than a golden "S" stamped into one corner and that the heatspreader is fairly thick.
In the middle of these pins is an open area, apparently there for some SMDs, but none were put on this chip.
