Project CARS
Project CARS is a motorsport racing game developed by Slightly Mad Studios, which, funded by the racing-sim community and the developers themselves, is quite a change from the usual publisher-financed titles. Thanks to epic community feedback, contributions, and crowdsourcing that went into funding its development, the game offers a wide range of realism settings, tons of cars, loads of circuits, and an entertaining career mode.
Project CARS is arguably the most photo-realistic race sim out there because the developers put a design focus on realism. The game is built upon Slightly Mad's Madness Engine, which has been used in other racing titles before. It supports advanced lighting techniques to make the cars look better than ever. The game uses DirectX 11 without the conventional approach to tessellation. It uses a deferred rendering engine with a custom Ambient Occlusion technique. We tested with the game running at its highest settings.
