Also in the box...
One of the most interesting provided bits is the cooler. Nestled inside its own box inside the ASRock X99E-ITX/ac's box, the cooler had most its markings removed, so the actual model number might be a mystery...
...and then you removed the foam and found out what's inside. I pulled out the cooler, looking to examine the polished, gleaming metal. I lifted it up and the fan fall off.
The fan is not attached to facilitate installing the heatsink, one that is fitted with a narrow-ILM mounting bracket that matches the socket the board uses in order to make squeezing everything into its tiny form factor possible. As you can see, the fan features vanes as a part of its frame, twisted in such a way as to re-direct the fan's airflow straight out the rear. The large rotor is also designed to support the fan's high rotational speed.
The fan attaches to the cooler with a simple plastic clip that is attached to the heatsink. You have to do so AFTER you install the heatsink since the fan sits over two of the heatsink's mounting screws.
Looking at the bottom, we see a square matrix of pre-applied thermal goop that covers the perfectly flat surface out of heatpipes and a passive aluminum cooler. Look closely and you can see the distinct separation here, and how this cooler is, in a way, two coolers in one, which makes it a cooler with pretty decent cooling performance for its size.
And who is responsible for making this cooler? I think the image above might give a hint.
