Software

The M3 is compatible with the ROG Armoury II software from ASUS. The first page houses button remapping options (mouse, keyboard, media, and macro functions). The second page has options for CPI adjustment (200–7000 CPI in increments of 100 CPI) for four levels, angle snapping (on/off), polling rate adjustment (125/250/500/1000 Hz), button debounce time (12–32 ms in increments of 4 ms), and a basic acceleration/deceleration function. The third page (Lighting) is detailed below. Additionally, a macro editor is present as well. On my system, the software had a RAM footprint of 70 MB on average. Compared to earlier versions, the RAM footprint has gone down a bit as Nahimic is no longer part of the package after the SteelSeries acquisition. RAM usage after terminating Armoury still sits at around 40 MB on average.

Lastly, I want to mention something that irritates me every time I'm using Armoury: It is impossible to minimize the software window by clicking its entry on the taskbar, but it can be maximized that way.

Lighting

The M3 has but a single lighting zone, which is the logo at the back. Four lighting effects are available: Static, Breathing, Color Cycle, and Reactive, the latter of which reacts to button presses. Both colors and brightness are adjustable.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are very good throughout. Here's a short demonstration video of the default Color Cycle and Breathing lighting effects:
