Software
The Hydrogen comes with its own software. All options are accessible on a single page. CPI adjustment is possible for up to six color-codes levels, ranging from 100 to 12,000 CPI in increments of 100. If needed, vertical and horizontal CPI can be set independently. Lift-off distance can be set to either 2 or 3 mm. Since polling for click/scroll and motion events is detached on the Hydrogen, only the sensor target rate can be adjusted. Possible values are 8, 16, 31, 63, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, and 8000 Hz.
All settings changes are saved to the on-board memory, so the software does not need to be running (or even installed) all the time. On my system, the software had a RAM footprint of 88 MB on average when running in the foreground along with considerable CPU usage, the latter of which disappears when minimized to the system tray. Upon exiting the application, all processes are terminated, as they should be.
