Value and Conclusion

  • The AVerMedia Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 is available online for $180.
  • Excellent and reliable performance in all supported resolutions and refresh rates
  • Lag-free HDMI passthrough in up to 4K60 with HDR and VRR support
  • Seamless OBS (and other recording/live streaming/videoconferencing app) integration
  • Ultrawide (3440x1440) passthrough limited to 100 Hz
With their HDMI 2.1 capture card launches, the Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 GC553G2 (reviewed here) and Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 (reviewed here), AVerMedia quickly became the de facto choice for anyone looking for the last word in video capture and pass-through. The HDMI 2.1 interface brings a lot of benefits to the table, including 4K60 capture with simultaneous 4K120 or 4K144 pass-through. If you need a capture card for higher resolutions and/or refresh rates, the two aforementioned products made all HDMI 2.0 competitors completely obsolete.

Not everyone needs top specs and performance though, and that's where the Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 steps in. It's a PCI Express Gen 3 x1 capture card equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports. It's $100 less expensive than the aforementioned Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575, but still carries a respectable spec sheet both in terms of capture and pass-through. It will happily do 4K @ 30 FPS, 1440p @ 60 FPS and 1080p @ 120 FPS capture with simultaneous 4K60, 1440p144 or 1080p240 pass-through, with both VRR and HDR support included. At 3440x1440, the pass-through refresh rate is limited to 100 Hz, which doesn't sound stellar, but it's worth mentioning that even the top-of-the-line capture cards can't do better than 120 Hz pass-through in that resolution, so you're honestly not losing a ton with the Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 in that regard.

Reviewing a product like the AVerMedia Live Streamer Ultra HD GC571 is easy, simply because the card does everything it promises, and it does it with no issues whatsoever. With that in mind, if you need the feature set this capture card offers, you can't go wrong by getting it.
