AVerMedia Streaming Center (Windows)

The AVerMedia Versati Go can be used as an ordinary plug-and-play microphone, with no special software or configuration needed. Should you want to use some of its more advanced features though, you'll have to install the AVerMedia Streaming Center, AVerMedia's alternative to OBS, Streamlabs, and other popular streaming software solutions.

The Streaming Center's main screen looks similar to that of the OBS, so its users will find themselves in a familiar environment right from the start. The scenes are shown on the bottom, the video and audio sources are on the left, and the currently selected and live scenes are in the center.

It won't take you long to realize that the Streaming Center is a heavily stripped-down alternative to OBS. For example, when adding a source, you're limited to the essentials: camera/capture card, window, image, and text. For comparison, OBS has 15 different entries in the source adding menu. The deeper you dive, the more apparent the differences become. You could argue that the lack of features could be advantageous for inexperienced users, who can be intimidated by everything OBS, Streamlabs or vMix have to offer, but even if you're a complete newbie in the world of streaming, I'd still strongly urge you to select OBS as your learning platform, as it will scale nicely as you get into more advanced stuff.

As you can see, there are quite a lot of audio settings related to the Versati Go, with AI noise suppression, noise gate, compressor, and 10-band equalizer being the more interesting ones. What I find disappointing is that all of the above are limited to AVerMedia Streaming Center. The aforementioned filters and noise filtering technologies aren't applied to the microphone system-wide; they're only available when the microphone is accessed through the Streaming Center. In other words, if you want to apply EQ to your voice to make yourself sound better over Teams or Skype, you're out of luck – all apps except the AVerMedia Streaming Center get the raw, unfiltered sound from the Versati Go, regardless of how you set it up within the Streaming Center.
