Avexir Core Series 3100 MHz 2x 4 GB DDR3 Review

Initial Setup

The Avexir Core Series sticks measure in at 36.56mm using my digital ruler, which is not that much taller than a standard DIMM. I slid the sticks into a matching Gigabyte board for the pics here.

Looking down on the sticks from above, you can see Avexir's logo in the middle and the plastic-like "bulbs" that stick out of each end. The bulbs are part of a light diffuser that spreads the light of several LEDs on the PCB's surface along the top of the DIMM, under the heatsink. Those slots in the top would normally be for airflow but are for the light to pass through here, creating what Avexir calls "The Spirit of Gaming".

Although there are lights on each stick, they pulse on and off in a slow, independent sweep, like the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe. It is a slow pulse, quite calm, but the light it projects is strong indeed. In the picture above, the stick in front is slightly brighter than the one behind it, and they are offset with my sticks, occasionally matching in pace only to go slightly out of sync with one another on the next wave of light.
