A Closer Look

The Lab is extremely compact compared to other racks like the DimasTech Benchtable or the Danger Den Torture Rack. The unit is painted in black inside and out and has a very simple layout. You will not find any possibilities to mount water cooling components anywhere on the Lab nor can any extra fans be added to the device. That said, I should mention that I am a bit disappointed about the fairly high price of around 90 US Dollars or 80 Euros. Sure, other test stations or racks do cost more, but also offer a lot more expansion possibilities and features.


Four large rubber feet elevate the unit about an inch above the table and allow air to pass to the power supply bay through a large opening on the underside.


You may install two devices into the front left area of the Lab. These can be a combination of a single 3.5 inch hard drive and an 5.25 inch optical unit or two of the latter. The right side is to remain empty, as there are only the power and reset buttons in this area.


These buttons are clearly labeled and of different colors. The odd part is the different placement of them, as the red reset one is noticeably higher than the power one. The entire right side of the Lab is intended or the power supply, as the unit is to be installed with the power plug toward the front of the rack.


You will find an additional 2.5 inch bay in the rear behind the two 5.25 inch ones. This is a nice little feature for those wanting to use an SSD or notebook drive within the unit.
