Packaging

Cooler Master ships the Mastercase 5 in a fully colored box. It comes with an image of the chassis on the front and a blow-up shot on the back. Here, you will also find some additional information on the enclosure. On one of the smaller panels, Cooler Master placed images of the three Mastercase 5 variants: the one we are reviewing today, the Mastercase 5 Pro, and the Mastercase 5 Maker. On the opposite side is also a list with all of the specifications.

Two thick Styrofoam spacers hold the chassis in place, while a foam bag protects it from fingerprints and scratches.

Contents

Inside the chassis, you will find a small black cardboard box with a few small dividers for six tiny compartments. While a nice touch, it is pretty fragile because of the material used. It would have been nice of Cooler Master to perhaps include dividers out of plastic. Inside these compartments are a mounting bracket for a fan, some cable ties, two Molex fan adapters, and a set of all-black screws.

Extra Parts

Cooler Master put a lot of effort into reinventing the brand and re-aligning all its product groups, all while introducing the new slogan "Make it Yours." The Mastercase 5 is the first of a brand-new range of cases intended to be modular, upgradeable. By offering users separately purchasable parts, each can "make it their own" by adding just those parts they need to supplement any one of the three Mastercase 5 variants.

Thus, Cooler Master also included a few of those parts for us to illustrate how you can modify the chassis's looks and what you may add internally.

The additional parts we received consist of the following:
  • 1x 2.5/3.5" HDD cage for two drives
  • 1x 2.5/3.5" HDD cage for three drives
  • 1x 2.5 SSD bracket
  • 1x Top cover with deep fan/radiator mount for up to 2x 140 mm fans or a thick 280 mm radiator
  • Windowed side panel
