The unit's fan spins at low speeds with light loads, so it won't bother you. As expected, the fan has to spin fast at high loads and temperatures to handle the thermal load.
Noise and Fan Speed (~30°C)
There is no passive operation, which I don't mind as long as the fan spins at low speeds with light and medium loads. With more than 375 W load, the PSU breaks the 30 dBA mark; with more than 480 W, it exceeds 40 dBA.
