Software
Sailing into software waters, I can only repeat what I have written in the past few Corsair reviews since iCUE hasn't changed much. It's very well designed, fast, and bug-free, at the cost of being heavyweight. It's also rather intuitive to use, but Corsair has some great tutorials that can definitely help you out if you happen to be stuck.
Once you launch the program, you have to select your device. With that done, the main screen opens up its profile settings. You can link profiles to specific applications, trigger them with actions, and even give them your own icons if that's your thing. Clicking on the Settings button at the top of the window takes you to the main device settings, as well as firmware updating—for some reason, you can change the polling rate here. Main program preferences are at the bottom of this window. Moving on to the Actions tab, it has all the button-mapping options, accessible after pressing the plus icon on the upper bar. You can create and execute macros, change all the button settings, and choose from a ton of key-press actions here. The DPI tab contains the resolution options, and you can set up to 5 (+1 sniper) CPI levels or disable any you don't need. You can also set the color for the CPI levels, although not individually, unfortunately. Lastly, the Performance page only contains two Windows-related options.
The iCUE software roughly takes up 552 MB of disk space and consumes 190 MB of memory in my configuration. It's rather heavyweight, but the mouse can store one profile to its on-board memory. This means you can simply uninstall iCUE after setting everything up.
Lighting
RGB lighting is one of the main selling points of newer Corsair products, and as indicated in its name, the M55 RGB Pro is no exception. There are a lot of different lighting effects and a huge number of customization options. The colors are very nice and vivid, and the transitions are buttery smooth. Corsair surely does knows their stuff in this regard.
Here's a demonstration video of some of the lighting effects:
