Packaging

Cougar's packaging sticks with the brand's black and orange theme. The front shows off the Forza 85 cooler while also listing CPU socket compatibility, which includes Socket AM5 and LGA1700, along with the max height of 160 mm, being compatible with most chassis on the market. Turning to the left side we find the Cougar branding, but nothing else; however, turning again to the back is where you will find the cooler's specifications. On top of the overall dimensions, fan RPM range, CFM, etc. specs, you will also find a quick overview of the cooler's features which include its vacuum tunnel design, metal-reinforced MHP 120 fan, and its elegant top cover with heat pipe caps for improved looks.

On the right side of the box is just the Forza 85 product name in white on a bright orange panel. Other than that nothing to see here. Moving to the top of the box is essentially the same, except now it is a black panel with the Cougar logo also visible.

I was pleasantly surprised to see foam packaging used here. The heatsink is encased in foam along with the fan. Meanwhile, all the misc mounting components are stored in a separate box. To top it off, one of the foam sheets also has a long screwdriver to aid in installation, so make sure to grab that.

First looks give the impression that the mounting hardware is well thought out and simple by design. It also supports all modern sockets except for AMD's TR4, sTRX4, and sWRX8. However, while simplicity is nice, it can also bring with it challenges, but more on that later. Not shown in the image here is the screwdriver Cougar also includes. I picked it up, then sat it down somewhere, and haven't found it since.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 8x Fan Clips
  • 4x LGA 115X / 1200 / 1366 Back Plate Screws
  • 4x LGA 1700 Back Plate Screws
  • 4x Intel LGA 2011 Screws
  • 4x Plastic Stand-Offs
  • 4x Plastic Spacer
  • 4x Screws
  • 4x Thumb Screws
  • Intel Back Plate
  • Intel Bracket
  • AMD Bracket
