Initial Setup

The Crucial 2133 MHz 32 GB kit adheres to the standard dimensions set forth for DDR4, shown pictorially above. Quite similar to DDR3 sticks dimensionally, differences start to manifest themselves from there.


Once I fitted them into my ASUS X99 DELUXE, I took a close look at the Crucial sticks and quickly noticed how closely the DDR4 slot clips fit into the provided notches, and how the entire stick seated itself firmly into the socket, golden fingers completely hidden from view.


The green PCBs really stand out against the simple black and white colors of the ASUS motherboard, bare ICs facing toward the socket. It's now time to get the rest of the system installed and up and running so testing can properly commence!
