Installation

To install the R1 Ultimate, position the backplate on to the motherboard. Secure it in place by using the included screw pillars.


Next, secure the mounting arms to the screw pillars with the included thumb screws.


Once done, attach the fans to the heatsink and plug it into the CPU fan header. These step can be skipped for most as CRYORIG has cutouts in place for an included screw driver to fit through. I found it easier to just remove the fans.

The MultiSeg mounting hardware provided with the R1 Ultimate can simply be described as sublime. It is easy to work with, and you don't even have to remove the fans. This is by far one of easier coolers to install. Overall, on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest), I would rate this cooler's installation a 10.
