DUNU may not be a giant in the ever-growing world of in-ear monitors, but has certainly left a huge impression on me courtesy the FALCON PRO and ZEN PRO, both of which showcase DUNU's engineering prowess when it comes to making the most of a single dynamic driver. The ZEN PRO in particular is excellent in how much it gets out of that relatively small form factor, driving a well-tuned sound signature with impact and balance simultaneously. The FALCON PRO did get somewhat lost amid the crowd, which I still maintain is a set more people need to actually try out, but the semi-open nature and an extremely competitive ~$200 market didn't help. Both of these used a variation of DUNU's ECLIPSƎ patented driver platform, so when the brand expressed interest in our coverage of a new, ECLIPSƎ-less single dynamic driver offering under $100, I was certainly intrigued.
The new TITAN S, again all capitals because branding and marketing said so, is an update to DUNU's TITAN series of more affordable IEMs aiming to showcase that a good audio experience does not have to come at a price. This particular one even goes with a more aggressive design to attract a more mainstream, gaming-friendly audience perhaps, with a cyberpunkian aesthetic courtesy the angular shells and vent piece that is more for looks than function. Rest assured then that this is no semi-open set, and behind the flashier design lies a highly attractive offering—at least if DUNU's history is anything to go by. Let's put the TITAN S through its paces today to find out for ourselves, and thanks again to DUNU for providing a review sample to TechPowerUp.
