The ECS LIVA One is an interesting device. It can pack a huge amount of power into a small amount of space, but the configuration we are looking at today doesn't provide ideal performance; it, rather, is an affordable option to get you something similar, and to get you into the form factor. Once you add in another $70 worth of RAM, it becomes far more interesting. The idea of adding in the RAM brings the total price to around US$450 or so. The rough metal-reinforced enclosure and decent amount of connectivity make it seem worthwhile if you want a PC that looks like a small air conditioner from the 80's.
I really liked most of ECS's LIVA devices, but the ECS LIVA One kind of breaks the mold for me. I know of a few people who might put this unit to use, and the price for it mostly reflects what they'd be willing to spend on something similar, but that aesthetic design really limits the LIVA One in my eyes.
The ECS LIVA One does feature a 35W Skylake CPU, a decently capable CPU that is well matched with the rest of the hardware it is provided with. It is not like they stuffed some AMD hardware in here; we've got a great option for CPU-focused performance without a discrete GPU. At the same time, the Core i7-6700T with 8 threads and 8 MB of cache and the same power envelope would have been that much nicer, even if it alone costs as much as the ECS LIVA One does!
