Included Software
There was very little software with the ECS LIVA X
2, but given this box is so cheap and, this time around, truly a complete PC with an OS, I don't mind much. There were two utilities; one for updating the software and another for the firmware.
The ECS LIVA X
2 is Windows 10 compatible, given the mic array really was meant for Cortana support. You do have to download Windows 10, which is fine by me, but might not be so for everyone. Given I reviewed other Braswell-based SoCs recently, 4K playback at 30 FPS isn't expected here, so benchmarks are rather useless at this point. The previously reviewed ASRock unit required a specialized memory design for 4K playback that just isn't present on the ECS LIVA X
2, but since the ECS LIVA X
2 costs far less to get up and running, that is 100% acceptable to me.
