Introduction
When EK Waterblocks (EKWB)
parted ways with some of their top management staff last year, everyone was curious what this meant to their product portfolio and design philosophy henceforth. EKWB had a great showing at Computex this year with many new product refreshes and some new concepts as well. One of the new things to come about with the new team there has been more RGB-lighting support, and today, we take a look at the RGB-fied EK-Vardar high-performance fan. This was something I personally would have never expected to see this time last year, so I no doubt join the curiosity of many of our readers who want to see how this performs and looks with the bling factor added. Thanks to EKWB for providing review samples to TechPowerUp.
The very name of the product shares a lot with the EK-Vardar EVO 120ER we examined in more detail
last year and indeed, this fan is based off it. Adding RGB LEDs to an existing fan is not something straightforward, however, especially if you do not want a hit to performance. In many cases, companies add LEDs to the center hub, which in turn reduces the blade length for the rotor and with it the performance potential vs. before. EKWB says they have accounted for this and more, so let us begin the review with a look at the specifications below.
