A Closer Look

Both sides of the modules have the same heatspreader on them. These are secured with frag tape and feature a black flame on top of the golden backdrop. There does not seem to be an easy way to peel these heatspreaders off, without bending them out of shape or risking damage to the ICs.


A single label on each stick gives you a lot of information, but not the one you may be expecting. There is no mention of the CL rating or voltage requirement. Luckily, as we will see later on, the specs are actually part of the SPD programming. The Elixir logo can be found on both sides of the modules.


The print on the PCB itself seems to mean something along the lines of Elixir, week 01, year 2009, so the PCB is of their own design and not bought from another manufacturer.


The kit looks pretty cool installed. Due to the compact heatspreaders, you will not need to worry about any space constraints. Six such modules will easily fit next to each other and the memory is of standard height.
