With the Platimax 1500, Enermax apparently wanted to show its capabilities not only to the customers but also to the competition. Although voltage regulation, especially at +12V, is loose, we cannot overlook the high efficiency levels this unit achieves and the tremendous power levels it can deliver even at high operating temperatures. On top of that the Enermax EPM1500EGT is fairly quiet for a 1500W unit and you will have to stress it heavily at high ambient temperatures to make the fan produce audible noise. Personally I was pretty amazed, too by the fact that the unit was able to achieve high efficiency even at very low loads.
This renders such a monstrous capacity PSU suitable even for systems that idle at below 100W. It's like buying a Ferrari to hit the race track but also being able to use it for the every day commute! It sounds pretty crazy, I know, but this best describes the case of the Enermax Platimax 1500 W, since so far I was used to see high capacity units registering horrible efficiency at low loads, rendering them unprofitable in most cases.
To conclude, if you want the strongest PSU available on the market today with the highest possible efficiency then the EPM1500EGT was made for you - if you can afford its price and the price of the graphics cards it will feed. If only voltage regulation at +12V was tighter, then the competition would have quite a hard time competing.
