The Power Supply
For those of you who were wondering, yes, you can completely turn the lights of the REVOLUTION D.F. X off if you prefer things that way. If you do like the RGB, you can choose between different pulsing RGB patterns, or select a constant color to illuminate the REVOLUTION logo. While the REVOLUTION D.F. X supports ARGB and can be controlled centrally by connecting the PSU to the motherboard with the supplied communication cable, we only used the built-in button at the back of the power supply (which can definitely be mistaken for a hybrid fan selection button) to toggle between the different lighting modes.
At the top of the PSU we have a simple metal grille with the Enermax logo, covering the 120 mm fan, while on the opposite side there's the sticker specifications.
The painted coating of the entire PSU case has a rough, almost abrasive texture, adding a little to the overall visual flair.
At the front we have all the sockets for modular cables with the 24 pin ATX connector(s) and one PCIe/CPU connector at the top row, followed by four SATA/Molex cable connectors, one 12VHPWR connector and the ARGB sync connector in the middle row. At the bottom we have four PCIe/CPU connectors.
On the back we find the usual C13 socket for the AC cable, an on/off switch and the aforementioned RGB control button. There's no hybrid fan operation switch, the fan always operates in hybrid mode and should remain completely off until the PSU is loaded above 20%.
The PSU itself is lightweight (taking into account the 1200 W power specification), without cables weighs just 1.43 kg.
While one of the sides is completely plain, the other features the LED panel. Besides the image, here's also a brief video of one of the lighting patterns:
