Initial Setup
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first powered up the G.SKILL RGB DIMMs, but I could not have been more impressed by what I saw before me. Although the white bar across the top might look light, it might have also dimmed any LEDs, but the G.SKILL TridentZ sticks lit up with such vibrant colors that I was shocked. The DIMMs don't stay a color or slowly pulse from a color to the next; colors
scroll down them in a freaking
rainbow.
Pinks and blues and reds and greens and yellows dance down each stick differently, creating a rather captivating look that had me just sit and watch them for a few minutes in wonder.
Once installed, you can download the most recent version of the control software from G.SKILL's site. The tool offers a lot more functionality here than I had thought I would find. There are numerous patterns pre-programmed into the software, each with options. Some of these you can set per DIMM, even making for a crazy light show if you want. Unfortunately, it's not recommended that you use the software with other LED control software, so you do need to be aware of that (although there are rumors of integration into ASUS AURA at some point).
