G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600 MHz DDR4 (2x 4 GB) Review

A Closer Look

The G.Skill Ripjaws V memory line features a new esthetic, although all the standard colors (and perhaps some new ones) are available, so you can buy sticks that match your thematic build.

On one side of the stick is a Ripjaws V logo, while the other has a label denoting the DIMM's speed, timings, voltage, and other such pertinent information.

There are not a lot of markings to be found on the sticks, although there is a note with the size and speed on the PCB, and there seems to be some sort of batch code on the other side. There are also markings that show how many layers these sticks use, which is ten, two more than I am used to seeing on high-performance DRAM. It seems such high-speed DIMMs benefit from additional PCB layers.

Looking at the top of the DIMM, I found a nice G.Skill logo, which will be visible when the stick is installed into your system. Flipping the DIMM over and looking at it from below, I saw that these sticks are single-sided, which is as expected for 4 GB DDR4. The middle memory IC's also don't actually touch the heatspreader.
